It used to be available through Power Trax directly for the S10 front diff, but it has unfortunately been discontinued. You might find a used one on eBay
@@milesspeed7547 probably out of my wheelhouse then lol. Thanks for the reply. Im just getting ready to start building an S10 and clearance for tires has been my number 1 concern. Thanks for putting so much info in the description, it answered a lot of questions for me
I have 2...but in alot of ways the regular S10 platform is easier and cheaper to build. Easier to v8 swap, easier to SAS, easier in general to work on.
I love the regular cab ZR2! Especially seeing it with lockers, I'm building a ZR2 clone off a regular cab Sonoma with my extended cab ZR2 bed and fenders, and then turning my rusty cab ZR2 into an off road beater
That's how a truck is supposed to look not the squatting trucks I see all over town or them low riders that can't even go over a speed bump without getting stuck.
I did not delete any vacuum lines to the HVAC controls, I only removed the vacuum lines leading from the back of the engine down to the transfer case. With the Bravada shaft conversion, you no longer need vacuum for the front two-piece axle disconnect system.
@@milesspeed7547 that sucks but thanks for the heads up iv been looking everywhere but before I'd do a air locker I'd go ahead and do a solid axle swap.
Thank you! It's a set of factory offered aluminum skid plates. There's a small access door that opens on the front skid plate, that allows you easy access to the oil filter.
I'm not sure the name of the trail, but there is a lake below Hoosier Pass outside of Breckenridge. If you take the road around the lake to the back side of it, there is a trail that begins there and goes west through the mountains.
No. It currently fits 32x11.50's or 33x10.50's just fine, under full suspension compression off-road. That's also the tallest tire I would run under the factory differentials I've got, which are a 8.5" rear and 7.25" front. More lift would raise my center of gravity, which I want to keep as low as possible. You always match your lift to fit the tires you are going to run, while also staying within the working limits of your axles/diffs.
@@CarGuy5141 With the factory short/long control arm suspension, full suspension compression & extension is limited by the operating angle of the ball joints, CV axles & tie rods. I've maxed that operating angle as far as I am comfortable, and even use modified Energy Suspension poly bump stops to even limit that compression & extension. My point being, lifting this factory suspension won't increase suspension travel. It just raises the COG and changes the breakover, approach/departure angles. To be honest, it's very well balanced off-road right now. For what it is, with lockers front & rear and 32" tires, it works very well. That being said, if I ever decide to go with larger tires, I would replace all the factory suspension with either a 4-link/coilovers SFA or a full tube front end to support Ultra4 style long travel IFS. Big dollars though! Lol
I had three of these over the years. (Extended cabs tho) Man I miss the old girls. Was rolling down the road the other day and saw one in mint shape (body anyway) sitting on (I'm guessing) 33's broke down on the side of the road and nearly left a note on the window asking if it was for sale.
@@hayhov_.9217 If the bumper on your 94 GMC Sonoma is the same as the one on my 99 S10, yes, if you remove the plastic valance on the bottom of the bumper, it will look like mine.
@@milesspeed7547 Chevy built the 4x4 truck to handle off-road terrain. These guys are acting like they scared to let the truck do what it was designed to do.
@@BUTGOD-j1x Chevrolet did not build the ZR2 to do what it is doing in this video. I am the owner of the truck, and the one driving it. I am also who modified the vehicle with the lockers it has front & rear, that equip it to take on that kind of rocky terrain. It was a rock climb that required very slow speed, and delicate driving to make it through. No stock S10 ZR2 is going to walk that section of trail.
@@milesspeed7547 I was just joking around. You did a great job. I have a 2000 Sonoma, 5spd, 195k miles. Vortec. V6, single cab. How much you think its worth? Could I modify it to Zr2 specs?
@@BUTGOD-j1x Gotcha. Yes, you're could be modified in the same way, but you would need a suspension lift to get the 32's to fit properly, and a good bit of fender trimming.
I had a Z blazer. Truck was fantastic offroad. The new Z's aren't bad too damn big though. I don't need or want anything more then a shorty. Id take this one any day over a new one
If you click on the little arrow beside the video description, I listed out all the details on the truck. No aftermarket lift is really required to fit 32's, with some creative fender/flare trimming and bump stop management. Only lift was slightly tweaking the front torsion bars in that video, but have been replaced with coilovers now.
