The book is about just some emo complainer. No shit, life sucks, bitch a little harder about it why don’t you? Most of the chapters of the book could be cut out and it wouldn’t change the plot. So along with the protagonist being completely miserable to being inside the head of, most of the time spent with him is also pointless.

We have alot more people to deal with. This makes appreciable change hard to come by and differences multiply. We have 1/4 th of Switzerland total population just in our jail system. Some of our cities have a higher population than entire European countries. For instance, NYC has about the same population as Switzerland. So we are not comparing apples to apples here. If you take into account the rest of even just NY state. The state of NY has more than double the population at about 19m to Switzerlands 8m So if you really want to compare apples to apples, most European countries should be compared to about half of one of our states. So a fair comparison would be The Hudson River Valley NY compared to Switzerland. Even tho that is still alot more people than Switzerland... maybe just within a nuke strike of NYC. This is like comparing getting your family to decide on a place to eat for the night vs walking into a Gas station and getting everyone there to follow you to your favorite place to eat. Europe is smol and has similar values with their citizens. Usa Is big and has a melting pot of values.

calling ulysses elitist is probably the dumbest thing to say about the book. it is the most lazy analysis to make, saying that "regular people" will not have the necessary level of intellect to understand the book, the language, the style, even the references (which are pretty much searchable in the internet) is pure prejudice. pretentious? yes, and that's part of what makes Ulysses interesting.

I only grew more fond of it, upon reading it as an adult. I wager these "critics" hate it so much because it struck a nerve. It doesn't really surprise me that a bunch of degenerate "woke" people who hate themselves, God, and the sanctity of innocence and purity; hate the book and Holden as a character. I'm sure they would have rated the novel highly if instead of protecting Pheobe, Holden was taking her to Drag shows and Gender Studies lectures at the local University.
From my understanding, I always thought it was one of the classics as a kid. You know, it’s got the whole title where it sounds deep or is trying to communicate a metaphor for something. Regarding the vapid c*nts in the vid, there are no "cis" men. There is the male part of the human reproductive equation, and "men" covers that. The qualifiers are reserved for those whose lifestyle strays from that dynamic. In other words, there is no "cis men" and "gay men." There are only "men" and "gay men." No heterosexual man has ever needed a qualifier. They simply consider themselves men. It's everyone else who needs to be "gay," "bi," "pan," etc. thrown in front of "man." I would love to learn which channels they are. I love books and Booktube has been an ocean of crap with intellectual midgets professing profound insights into literature and the world. It really really stinks. And I don't want it to be that way.
