@SopurkhKaur No leaks at all! I've been very fortunate to have very little problems! And the couple of problems I have had, I've been able to fix myself (sink cartridge needed replacing, water pump replacement and 1 blind broke) And the sink cartridge and water pump thing I believe was my fault. They popped up after my first winter and I did not winterize it, so I think that's where those failures happened. No issues since fixing them!

We stayed on one a number of years ago. Unless you back in, I would take more than a 20 or maybe 24 foot back there. There is very little space to pull forward and we needed 4 wheel drive to do that. Once in it was a very nice spot, but it’s pretty tight for the 27’ they have listed in their website. Also. The stairs on site 2 are on the back side of the camper
@WeekendWandering

@nettiew4267 agreed! Our camper is 19 feet and with my smaller SUV at the time, it was tough! I'm curious how well I could do it with my full size SUV. I can't imagine someone getting a 27' rig in there! And yes, very true ok the steps, but both are still nice spots!

Does the top sheet attach to the fitted sheet? Was seriously looking at Beddy’s until this video, didn’t realize that the fitted sheet was not zipped like Quickzip.

So the top sheet doesn't zip to the fitted sheet like Beddy's, so the bed may not look as neat and "put together" like Beddy's but I much prefer the ease of cleaning the sheets and just having to zipper it back on!

Hi what year is your Sol? Can you show us what a Moon Shade is that you talk about and where to buy it. I do not know what that is and what size order number etc. Also, do you bring camp chairs (where to store them if so), do you have a little outdoor fold up table you use and where to store, or do you put some type of lights on outside of camper on this awning or moon shade and if so are they solar? Just wondering how you store you dishes, silverware, pots and pans.. Do you just use one mini dehumidifier and find that is sufficient for whole camper to keep it moisture free, and does that need to run 24/7 to do the job, or do you need to run more than one? I know you are trying to have small items/appliances to use to save space looks like it would fill up fast. Little vac you use on your link not available anymore, was it a good one? I had a mini one once didn't work well, but with camper that would really help out. I know you use system under bed to prevent mold, do you use that under dinette cushions too that you make into your dog bed, does it get moldy under there too with moisture building? How do you hang up your three pocket fabric shelves that you put socks/undies etc. in, I would hate to have to drill holes in wall? Have you ever tried to bring air fryer along or is it too big of energy hog? Possibly thinking of getting Sol someday, but would go on longer trips than 1 week so just double checking. Love the 3 pocket wall thing. Sorry for so many questions:)Thanks.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering 4 месяца назад
Hi there! My Sol is a 2021. I actually have a quick video on my channel showcasing the MoonShade (setup & how I use it) - I have now removed my outdoor kitchen and don’t use it the moonshade quite as much as I used to, but it does still get used in certain situations! I also love that I can use it on my car. And the size I have is just the regular original size (9ft x 7ft) (Video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rAmm-ztcZZc.htmlsi=dl1tV9En5hB4HjZd) I do bring camping chairs and I will either store them in my car or in the storage compartment where the outdoor kitchen use to be. It really just depends on what else I’m taking that trip on where the chairs go, but they will fit in that storage compartment! I used to string up lights on the outside, they were the Luci Solar String lights by MPowered and I liked them because of their simplicity and flexible use. I’ve dangled them on the camper awning as well as the moonshade. They stopped working last year after they were rained on A LOT and I just haven’t bought anymore yet. I’ll either buy more of those or I’ll look for another similar option! For now though, I just use the light that is on my camper. As far as the dishes go, I do have another video on my channel also showcasing my Kitchen setup! (Video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iSRKhVqi2kU.htmlsi=9B8vxXq9aI8MY5E5) I do just use the mini dehumidifier. I’m sure that a bigger one would work even better, but I think it does a good enough job for what I’m looking for. If my camper was any bigger, it would definitely take more than just that one! The AC also helps when it can be ran, but the little dehumidifier is just the one I picked to help save space and knock down some moisture in the air. When it is really humid here in the Summer, I maybe have to empty it once a week. It has an automatic shutoff though as long as it is sitting level. The little vacuum is still going strong! I haven’t had any issues out of it and it still serves its purpose! I’m sorry that one isn’t available anymore. I can’t find the exact brand, but I see this one has decent reviews and I’d maybe try it! a.co/d/cYG8uYU I haven’t had any issues with moisture under the dinette cushions since I’ve had my camper, but I do know someone who did. They actually were in Alaska and running their furnace constantly so they had a lot of condensation which resulted in the excessive mold growth. This is where a good dehumidifier would help as well as some fresh air coming into the camper via a cracked window, plus trying to use electric heat vs the propane furnace whenever possible. I’d say in that situation, that system would be a good thing to try under the cushions. I just can’t say exactly how it would work under the cushions since I’ve never tried it. In my opinion, I think the cushions get better airflow under them than the mattress would just in regular use. Those little 3 pocket things are held up with Command hooks! I haven’t drilled anything at all into my walls. I only use command strips and hooks and they work great! I’ve even used them to hang up the artwork on my walls. You just have to be careful to not put anything too heavy on the actual side walls. The little wall paper material will start to separate if you do. I had a small hook with one of those 3 pocket things and I had waaaay too much stuff in the pockets so once I saw the material separating from the wall, I had to relocate that hook! I do bring an air fryer along sometimes (actually just used one this weekend!) As long as we are hooked to power whether it is at a campground or through a generator, the air fryer works great. I think the Sol is a great unit to consider! Take your time looking at all of the different rigs that are out there and think through how you’ll use the space in any camper you look at! InTech RV certainly has a great quality camper and I’ve loved mine. My interest gets peaked from time to time with other campers, but not enough to make me want to switch at this time. Ask questions anytime! I’ll always try to get back to you as soon as I can!

Hi I watched your video, and have a question. You mentioned something about memory foam bed mattress, was this the original one mattress that came with the camper from Sol Horizon? If not, what mattress are you using and where did you buy it, order number, cost, link etc. Are you happy with mattress or would you get a different one, you said it's ok. Also, do you use a mattress pad protector cover? I have major dust allergies, and mattress pad covers are nice as you keep dust mites down that get in mattress and can wash the mattress protector for the bed. Thank you.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering 4 месяца назад
The mattress I have is what came with my camper and it is better than most stock mattresses. I’m not sure if InTech is still doing that or if it was a dealer thing, but it is good enough! The Froli system definitely helps with comfort. If we ever decide to upgrade the mattress, I really want to try Brooklyn Bedding… I’ve heard great things about them! I do have a mattress pad cover that we just bought from Walmart. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!!

Good video, for the most part. Suggestion: since you made notes ahead of time, rather than stammering trying to remember numbers, specs, etc, write those down. About the toilet…how long do you stay in there??! Do you really need a window?? I’ve glanced at the Horizon, and didn’t realize there is only one waste tank…that’s a bummer. One last thing: remember that adding solar panels will subtract from your “officially” available cargo weight.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering 4 месяца назад
Oh buddy, trust me, I wish I could stay on track... that is not a strength of mine. 😂 I don't really NEED a window in the bathroom, I just like windows haha! There is only one waste tank and it is a bummer with how small it is, but it's a small camper. Some have changed out the toilet for a compost toilet and just use the tank as a grey tank. And you're right about that. My plans have changed since making this video. We'll eventually just use a portable power station and portable panels rather than adding a fixed setup to the Horizon! Thanks for your feedback. Whenever I get around to making another video, I'll try to stay on track 😉

Get a bigger rig, lol. You're mentioning all of the gives to the small rig take. The axle weight rating is just that. The axle. You still have tongue weight rating to add to that. The gvwr is over 4k lbs.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering 5 месяцев назад
The dry weight of the Horizon is 3375lbs (at least for mine according to my spec sheet with the options I chose) the axle is rated for 4000lbs so I have 625lbs of capacity that I can safely add to the camper for traveling. That includes fresh water, propane, and any other content that I throw inside. The tongue weight is what your tow vehicle is carrying and has to be considered when lookingat the cargo capacity of your vehicle. It isn't a separate number that is added to the listed weight of the camper. My SUV at the time of this video handled this rig fine. It had the towing capacity for it, but I have since upgraded to a bigger rig and do notice a difference in towing... especially on longer hauls.

Dawn owner here, so of course our camper is a tiny bit different, but the bed is still a PITA to make.....we solved it for ourselves with buying a queen sized sleeping bag. We sleep on air mattresses, so I just push them up and fold the bag on top of it. I had bedding and when we pulled apart on a rainy day, we looked like were homeless with everything piled up at the big window. That became a very hard no for me, so changes were made. The tanks ARE small and beyond buying a relief tank was how we solved it. When at campgrounds, we use the bathroom they have normally except at night. I also just bought a small covered trashcan to put paper waste. That will allow a lot more ease in dumping. Unfortunately, the water hold isn't going to allow for a lot of water, no matter what. You aren't the only one who isn't big on cutting. I catch a lot of crap on the one InTech group I belong to because I don't like nailing stuff. My problem is I want things to look like they belong. We have done several mods, but about to make a big one where our microwave is, probably this weekend and we are going to put a shelf in to pull our air fryer/convection/microwave out. We will also be putting the lagun table in, but we are presently waiting for a custom table top to come in from England. The InTech is timeless, sort of like an Airstream or a Scamp. In 10 years with good care, it will look the same and you won't have to worry if you go west and there are age restrictions. I believe it's a great unit....I just wish we could have found an Eclipse when we were getting ours.

I feel you! I wish the Dusk would've been an option. Those twin beds would be great. I'm always interested and looking at other rigs, but it would have to take something really special to get me to switch from intech! No camper will ever be 100% perfect, but Intech definitely comes pretty close for me! Making the bed is much easier with quickzip sheets. I am so happy we bought one. We only bought the fitted sheet and then I use random bedding for the rest. Fighting with the corners is no longer an issue! Seems like you guys have figured out a good system though!

Great review. If you didn't have the outdoor cooking set up would the stock fridge be adequate? That's one thing that struck me as lacking. I'm assuming that space can just be outdoor deep storage.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering 5 месяцев назад
Hey, thanks! So we have actually removed the outdoor kitchen since this video, and we now use that space for extra storage. We now just take a camping stove as far as cooking outside, and we much prefer that because it's not as messy! We still use the outdoor fridge, though. We really need the extra space for drinks and sometimes whatever food won't fit in the inside fridge if we are cooking for elaborate meals. If I'm camping by myself, I don't use it, but if my husband is there or anyone else, the extra fridge is being used. A cooler would work just fine, though!

you should also look into a solar generator. if you have a good sized one like a 2000W or higher will run all of your camper. these are all in one units and they can be used for other projects. they can be quite spendy but you can charge them with solar panels and/or 2000W gas camping generator. I've seen others use that set up while they are boondocking and they love it. you don't have a generator running all night long. you can charge the solar generator with the gas generator during the day when it doesn't bother anyone else.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering 5 месяцев назад
I've actually got a smaller one! I wanted to get a big 2000W one when I was looking with the solar panels, but couldn't afford it at the time so went for one that is like 800W. One day we'll upgrade to something!

Sorry for the multiple comments, but I’m commenting as I watch. Good video btw. Saving water while brushing teeth … as we learned in backpacking or scouting - One cup of water is all it takes to brush your teeth! Fill your cup with water. Dip your toothbrush in it then put toothpaste on the toothbrush and brush your teeth. When done, spit the toothpaste in the sink (or near the base of a tree-not too close to the camper if you are in bear country). Rinse your mouth with some of the water from the cup. (Your toothbrush is still toothpastey.) Drink some water and spit it into the sink or on the toothpaste at the base of that tree. Swish your toothbrush in the rest of the water to clean it. Then dump the rest of the water in the sink to clear the other toothpaste in the sink (or dump the rest outside) on the toothpaste you spit out, to dissolve it. All done! It might take a little extra water to rinse the sink but not much.

Re gray and black tanks going off grid… You are doing it right with “military showers”! Two more things… Wash your dishes outside and water a tree after. (Use a table near the outdoor shower hose.) Also, a composting toilet will make your black tank go much further. We use a DYI version of the Luggable Loo, and keep it in the shower. We use wood shavings not kitty litter. Wood shavings are lighter, cheaper and better smelling. That’s how people who go off grid often do it. Hubby didn’t like the idea but at least he gave it a try. He has has decided he prefers the Loo to flushing the tanks and only uses the Loo. We will stop at a koa overnight sometimes with full hookups and dump before we leave.

Yes, I've considered the composting toilet option! We've been figuring things out with each trip, for sure! And yes, we wash our dishes outside whenever that is the best bet!

Hi about bedding, we found the easiest for us was a DIY Bed Buddy system. 1-buy 2 XL Xtall sleeping bags (not “mummy” bags of course) and zip them together. Ours are rated 20 degrees so they are very warm. 2-make or buy a cotton sleeping bag liner. Or 2. I made ours by sewing the bottoms of 2 flat sheets together, and 12” up the sides. Pick a size that is 1-2 feet wider than your mattress/bags. 3-for a pretty cover, use a comforter or duvet cover or comforter. You NEVER have to make the bed. You only have to unzip one side of the bags, put the bottom of the liner in the bottom of the sleeping bag and throw the duvet on. Throw or roll the sleeping bag out. It’s super simple and gives lots of layering options. In the summer we sleep on top of the sleeping bags just in the liner and use the duvet cover for a light blanket as the night cools. Our sleeping bags zip together for a 60” queen bed. The comforter and liner being wider than the bags keep us covered when rolling over. Hope this helps!

We have been looking for a long time at small trailers(We did do a LOT of research). Your videos helped with our decision...We just purchased a 2024 Sol Horizon Rover. We have been car camping/boondocking for a long time and have most of the gear we need. We have purchased quite a few of the things you mentioned on this video. I am lucky as a licensed electrician and former car stereo installer I am upgrading the batteries right away with a 300AH Lithium and 3000watt inverter. We already have dual batteries in our 4Runner with solar to run our fridge and other lighting/charging needs. One thing we have is a portable toilet with bags. Maybe not ideal, but will keep the black out of the tank. Can't wait to get out this spring and try it out...

We would probably go with the newer Sol Dusk with the twin beds because we're older, so, uh, how you put it... less limber. Love love love the Sol line, and greatly appreciate your courage to portray the luxuriously mundane with a twist... literally. Thanks for putting your fun self out there. I'll leave a note on my wife's computer so she can watch it when she wakes up, in the morning, and wonder what in the $#@%^ world her husband is watching at work at 3 o'*$&#^@clock in the morning. It's research, honey... necessary research...

Hahaha well happy it was entertaining! It was interesting to put together and a hot mess, as you can see! 😂 And YES! The Sol Dusk has peaked my interest for sure. If it was available when we were looking, we probably would've gone for that one. I really would love to see one in person. Who knows, maybe we'll upgrade in the coming years! Thanks so much for watching!

Consider the dollar stores for kitchen equipment-it’s flimsier stuff, but you’re not going to be using it day after day, and it’s really inexpensive!

More tongue eight means more stability-good with a single axle. We tow with an Audi Q7, and it’s great without a weight distribution hitch. Love this trailer!

How do you situate the animals when they are with you?
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering Год назад
Well... we *try* to put all 3 dogs in the dinette for sleeping (but we don't always have all 3) -- River will sleep in the dinette by himself, no problem... the other 2, well they think they belong in the bed since that is how they sleep at home (in a king bed!) So if that happens, one of us will just sleep in the dinette bed, and the other gets the bed with the dog(s) 🤣 It's a mess, really, haha

Have you ever weighed the trailer? I looked at this the payload is too low for 3 people plus camping do dads plus water and propane.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering Год назад
We haven't weighed it ourselves. Our spec sheet said ours was 3375 dry weight. Even if we travel with a full water tank and 2 full tanks of propane, that's an additional 307lbs. So if I really wanted to max I out, I have an extra 200lbs, but we rarely travel with a full water tank. When we do, we distribute weight differently or we just put things in our tow vehicle.You don't really have to worry about weight of people since they won't be in the trailer while traveling. There certainly isn't much wiggle room with the payload, but we haven't had any issues so far! We are just very mindful of how we pack it if we do have to travel with a full water tank.

Hahah well all you need to know is all sites are good sites here! You'll enjoy it if it's your first time. This is one of our favorite spots to camp. We usually camp here at least once a year! We'll actually be there next month. Thanks for watching and have so much fun!

I actually ordered mine without them! I told them I just wanted the Sol logo on there and nothing else... others have taken theirs off though!
