Of course, you know I forgot to mention a couple of things! (Typical of me) 1. The holding tanks will only get you so far depending on how you use them!! Some Sol users can get multiple days out of their tanks. With our experience in the beginning, we could only go a couple of days before needing to dump. We were both showering Friday & Saturday nights (military showers), plus dishes and going to the bathroom (trying to conserve water as much as we could) Now, we just use campground showers unless we have full hookups. This will allow us to get maybe 1-2 more days if we need it! 2. You are going to need a surge protector if you’re staying in campgrounds!!! PLEASE KNOW BEFORE YOU TOW! Do not just buy this trailer assuming that your vehicle can haul it! Make sure you check all specs and ask for help from an expert if you are not sure! I appreciate you being here and please share whatever else you’d like to see on the channel!

This is one of the most practical videos for any new travel trailer owner. Great job! Especially the “must haves” and “nice to haves.”

We have been looking for a long time at small trailers(We did do a LOT of research). Your videos helped with our decision...We just purchased a 2024 Sol Horizon Rover. We have been car camping/boondocking for a long time and have most of the gear we need. We have purchased quite a few of the things you mentioned on this video. I am lucky as a licensed electrician and former car stereo installer I am upgrading the batteries right away with a 300AH Lithium and 3000watt inverter. We already have dual batteries in our 4Runner with solar to run our fridge and other lighting/charging needs. One thing we have is a portable toilet with bags. Maybe not ideal, but will keep the black out of the tank. Can't wait to get out this spring and try it out...

More tongue eight means more stability-good with a single axle. We tow with an Audi Q7, and it’s great without a weight distribution hitch. Love this trailer!

We upgraded from tent camping to a 16' utility trailer DIY homemade camper thing. Its a lot of effort for setup/tear down, but for now, it works. At some point, we will get an actual camping trailer. Your videos are extremely helpful in our hunt for the right setup in trailer, kitchen stuff, etc... yes, I take notes. The Intechs look fabulous. I'm seriously leaning toward the Sol Dusk (twin bed version of the Horizon). And off-topic, I love the music you use in your video shorts. "Beauty of the Mundane" and "July" are going on my playlist.

They are great songs, aren't they?! I love when I find a good one. Excited to hear when you do get one, but there's nothing wrong with a homemade camper! As long as you can get out, anything works!

Hi, good job on the video. We have a new Sol Horizon, Rover and in our fuse box there is a switch to choose between lead acid and lithium batteries so the electronics are already in your camper. I don’t know if this is a new feature or not. You’ll know if you have it because there will be a sticker on the outside of your fuse box. We love our camper, and we love your channel. Also keep up the good work.
@WeekendWandering

I haven't looked in my fuse box in a while, but I feel like I've heard that is the case! I'll definitely check it out again. And congratulations on your new Horizon! Isn't it such a great little camper?! And thank you so much for your kind words! 😊

Something you may want to consider is getting a portable power station. I know it's not as convenient as having a converter directly installed in the trailer, but then you can use it in your tow vehicle outdoors or in the trailer. I have even used ours in the house when there was a power outage...We have a couple Harbor Freight 100 watt solar panels we use to charge our batteries as needed. We just ordered a larger EcoFlow Delta 1300 watt one they are on sale $500.00 off right now as the new model has come out.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering Год назад
YES! We actually have one and used it on our last camping trip when we went boondocking! I had the exact same thought! It'll do the trick until we can afford to get a nice beefy solar + lithium setup! But you're so right. It's excellent for power outages, and it can be used in car/tent camping scenarios too!
@kurtburkhardt5862
@kurtburkhardt5862 Год назад
@@WeekendWandering You're correct the power supply will come in handy as we are still Car/tent camping until we get a Horizon. We finally saw one in person, wow, it is as nice as we hoped. We are already starting to get some small items we can use in the trailer. The power supply will augment the dual AGM batteries I installed in our 4Runner. Being an electrician and a mechanic I am lucky to be able to do most of the work myself. Your channel has given us great ideas and is helping with our decision. This summer we already have a Overlanding trip planned going completely around Lake Michigan. Once we purchase a trailer we will take a few small trips to get acquainted with it and will go out West next summer and take some time visiting our daughter in Utah. We have subscribed and wish you well on your channel and travels.

you should also look into a solar generator. if you have a good sized one like a 2000W or higher will run all of your camper. these are all in one units and they can be used for other projects. they can be quite spendy but you can charge them with solar panels and/or 2000W gas camping generator. I've seen others use that set up while they are boondocking and they love it. you don't have a generator running all night long. you can charge the solar generator with the gas generator during the day when it doesn't bother anyone else.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering 2 месяца назад
I've actually got a smaller one! I wanted to get a big 2000W one when I was looking with the solar panels, but couldn't afford it at the time so went for one that is like 800W. One day we'll upgrade to something!

I also removed the the blackstone. It was a pain to clean and you have to be perfectly level if you don't want your eggs to end up in the corner of the cooktop.

If traveling long distance check to see if there is a place to fill your tanks close to your destination instead of pulling the extra weight.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering 5 месяцев назад
Yes!! Always a great idea! We tried this for one trip and didn't have any luck (but I also didn't do a ton of looking into it beyond calling a couple of places!) My problem was I waited last minute to figure this out 😱 But this is an excellent suggestion!

Have you ever weighed the trailer? I looked at this the payload is too low for 3 people plus camping do dads plus water and propane.
@WeekendWandering
@WeekendWandering 10 месяцев назад
We haven't weighed it ourselves. Our spec sheet said ours was 3375 dry weight. Even if we travel with a full water tank and 2 full tanks of propane, that's an additional 307lbs. So if I really wanted to max I out, I have an extra 200lbs, but we rarely travel with a full water tank. When we do, we distribute weight differently or we just put things in our tow vehicle.You don't really have to worry about weight of people since they won't be in the trailer while traveling. There certainly isn't much wiggle room with the payload, but we haven't had any issues so far! We are just very mindful of how we pack it if we do have to travel with a full water tank.

Consider the dollar stores for kitchen equipment-it’s flimsier stuff, but you’re not going to be using it day after day, and it’s really inexpensive!
