With sufficient public will and support of the entire community, we believe it is possible to eliminate hunger and its root causes. Oregon Food Bank collects and distributes food through a network of four OFB branches and 16 independent regional food banks serving Oregon and southwest Washington. The OFB Network helps nearly 1 in 5 households fend off hunger. OFB also leads statewide efforts to increase resources for hungry families and to eliminate the root causes of hunger through advocacy, nutrition education, garden education, and helping communities strengthen local food systems.
I am sad. I am not getting my nutritional needs met. Who can I contact to share my concerns. The last 3 weeks that I have gone to the Food Bank. I have walked away with no dairy products, no meat, no bread, amongst other foods that are not available. I waited in line for over a hour just to be told that the Water melons were gone. They could have been cut in half so more starving Senior Citizens could have had Water Melon. This needs to be addressed so all of us could have WaterMelon. Celery, and tiny red apples were all the fruit fresh offered! No juice was available again. This is disturbing due to all the new cars parked at the Food Bank. I am without food for 10days out of the month due to The Oregon Food Bank not supporting more nutritional foods for those od us with no food with vitamins and nutrients needed. I have lost 40 pounds due to lack of food for my self. I am struggling financially. I can't afford gas money. I'm 71 years of age. This is a very sad way to live. I brought this concern to the Volunteers. The response I got was troubling. I was told that Food Banks aren't grocery stores!! How mean spirited of him to speak to me that way. I am at a desperate place in my life. I, like others need and deserve adequate nutritional needs. Last week no bread was available by the time I waited in line. This week only white rolls were left.4 loaves. This is unacceptable and scary! I'm spiraling down hill, due to know nutritional food available. this may sound counter Productive but obviously each member of a Family coming to a food Bank has to be hungry and in each food Bank I suggest a small area where hot cooked food can be given "before" receiving food in boxes. this WILL cut down on the whole amount of food in cans and boxes as their bellies will be full and they won't DIVE into the food just given to them as one Family did due to being SO hungry. for myself I can't believe ANY Politician doesn't tear up seeing 5 yr olds crying themselves to sleep from hunger????!!!!
as a Canadian living next door to America I am totally appalled at what's currently taking place with those going hungry in the Richest Country in our Planet's History. Billionaires like warren get $29B from Tax Breaks and corruption is the rule of thumb here. I believe that just ONE BILLION in Each City in America given as Donations could feed every mouth going hungry for a year. I have heard that $3. in canned goods would be 5 times as much if given in Dollars and allow those who know the system to buy food at dirt cheap costs. every Politician in America should be totally ashamed of themselves!!
DId y hear that dentists ? why wont you donate dental help the same as food is given because of your love of monies?????? you wont help people in your same town but you will go to other countries so you can get noticed by your church sounds like a pharsasy to me
So..... They foreclose on people..... put them out on the street.....but they will give out cans of food to the people they put out on the street..... Really? BofA Really ??
