My highest Azure order has been about $700.. some of things I always buy is Nancy’s probiotic sour cream, Azure Raw Berry/wildflower Honey, Sierra Nevada organic Raw grass fed 5lb block medium sharp cheddar cheese, Sierra Nevada Raw jalapeño jack cheese, calico cheese.. azure organic multicolored popcorn, Mothers choice butter… Lol there’s other things I regularly buy as well but those are some of our favorites… The Honey is absolutely amazing & really reasonably priced..
So this year we are going low spend year. I have a stocked pantry that I built over the years. The thrifty plan says my husband and I are allotted $6804, however we are going lower. We are doing $75 per week which is $3900 for the year. Then I have allotted $120 per month which will be for either Thrive Life or Azure. So our total budget is $5340. I do the pantry challenge in January and February so that cash will just sit in an envelope. So, it’s on this year!
I am truly enjoying your videos, they come from the heart. In respect to the $$ to spend in the year as in 6000+. You are ahead of the game as you have chickens and a big garden. If someone truly had to only live on that amount it would truly be a stretch. I am in Canada and items are very expensive, in my opinion. I am enjoying your journey and look forward to following along.
I just found your channel with the video popping in my YT feed today. I'm doing the pantry challenge too, and planning on going through March. Enjoyed this video so had to sub!
Hey! New sub here! I am also documenting my weight loss journey on youtube! Also we are about the same weight! I am so looking forward to seeing your journey! I love the scale and all that it tells you! What a great way to keep track of progress! Good luck dear!
The prices are getting scary. I am always shocked when I go in to a store. I went yesterday to my local grocery store, same experience as you. Everything is going up. I hear prices are going to continue to rise.
Think my biggest order has been around $500. And that was this last one with the recent extra discount. 😊 I am an household of one, but am prepared for way more than me. Slowing down on the buying and working on using up some of what I have. In the last couple days I have watched two Azure hauls and thought I should've bought more while it was on sale. I often see on Azure haul videos things I would like to try. Like that date syrup.
Enjoyed the video. The Azure order video came across my feed first. Look forward to your future videos. Would love to see a video of you canning that wonton soup. It sounds good to me right now. My pantry looks simalar to yours and I am doing the pantry challenge too.
I would NEVER trust any company with my period data. They have a history of turning over user data without even getting a subpoena. Women are already getting arrested for completely normal miscarriages, I don’t want a late or irregular period to land me in jail…
I'm in Americus KS now but grew up in SC. Planning to move to NM in the summer. Wondering how gardening will be there? As for the collard greens and black-eyed peas, I almost always greet the new year with them and pork loin. I prefer to call my peas hopping john when I serve them with rice. Now im craving new year's food.
Good luck on your move! And start checking out that growing zone information for that area. I had to rethink gardening all together when I moved from the north to the south hopefully nothing crazy from east to west but definitely a different climate.
In my mind I keep making plans to shed the weight. This year, I will have the focus to do so. I’m not as techy as your plan is😅however, I will be going a more natural direction with prayer and fasting! I appreciate you sharing your journey and being candid about it!
About 1951 i was 8 yrs old. My mother picked up bread for the pig's food from a bakery. Bread was packaged in waxed paper back then. The bakery broke the loaves open so it would be unusable as people food. She brought it home and salvaged half loaves as best she could. (It was not free but the cost was low.)She worked full time at a war plant making bombs for the Korean War. My stepdad was a tenant farmer. Yet we ate "mayo" sandwiches when there was no baloney. Food is precious. We must value it whether from the garden, the food bank, or even a stores surplus meant for animal food. I respect your openness and values.
Thank you so much for sharing about your mom. Shes a wonderfully frugal superhero and great example of making it work and being savy. I totally agree that food is precious and we need to make the most of what we have and can get for free or reasonably priced. I so appreciate your comment!
You aren’t crazy! My biggest order was $1084 when they put the cases of organic prairie burger and tenderloin steaks on sale last year at $48/case. We bought a new freezer and filled it to the brim😮
Wow nice I totally missed that sale I hope I can catch the next one! The freezer probably didn't count towards the haul lol 😆 but well worth it nonetheless!
Where did you find the coupon code? I order frequently and have been for over 5 years but I’ve never heard they offered coupon codes. Great to hear you discussing buckwheat flour. My 96 year old grandmother often mentioned that they used buckwheat flour during the Great Depression as that is what was cheapest and readily available.
They had a video update come out that I saw in my email with the founder announcing the code. It was for December called abundantpantry 2023. I am hoping they do it again at some point every little bit counts when it comes to saving. Its so nice to hear your grandmother talking about buckwheat. This is my first year giving it a go and so far so good. I also plan on growing some as a cover crop! Thanks for stopping by!
First, I love your intro with the cows, and the continuing serenade. I too struggle with emotional eating when I’m stressed. I don’t have a clue how much we spend on groceries each month. Thanks for nudging me to be more mindful.
Great haul! I’ve never cooked mung or adzuki beans, would love to see how you use them. I’m also interested in sprouting broccoli seeds. Thanks so much for sharing. ❣️
Thanks for stopping by! I will have to make some videos in the future using these items. I am adding it to my video list 🙂. Oh and broccoli sprouts are super delicious!
You are not crazy, the prices on fruit are very high compared to a couple years ago. Ten years I realized the prices on food were going up and planted an orchard. But the apples you got for buy one get one free was a good deal. If you can put some berry bushes on , the prices on those are astronomical.
Thats awesome to hear your orchard is in place already. That is one of my big goals for this year. We do have wild blackberry bushes that I can delight in during the spring hopefully its prolific so I can preserve some. Thanks so much for stopping by and letting me know I'm not crazy lol.
I'm waiting until after the pantry challenge to really get into it. I am trying to finish up some of the "bad foods" I need to stay away from this way I'm not wasteful.
Your NOT crazy ..with food prices only going up we like to keep a 2 to 3 year panyry plus help our kids. My daughter has 4 kids who love yo eat well and her husband but everything costs so much now its hard for the so my next 2 otders are stocking for her ..but my last Dec withthe discout was 3,600.00 . My January order is 5k+ as is my February the for march I will be using my azure cash for an order and will probably a fill in gaps..I think our grandmothers and great grandmothers had the right idea they most always kept pantries and root Cellars..most houses today dont have all that foid storade ..but there are ways if ya think out side the box just dont forget about it.. I pretty much only buy from Azure .I get eggs for other drop people who have chickens and the sell salves etc.its great meat so many nice people who think basically alike ..I am hoping Feb will be my last huge order but may have to slip a April in if I can.. loved your hall you git basically allt he good staples .very nice haul!! Thanks for sharing.
Wow I could only imagine another 1000 on what I spent your car must have been super heavy lol. I too am always saying...this is my last big order and then I place another one just incase 😌. So this is actually the first time I'm regulating myself and strategically placing orders although its very tempting especially in these times. Thanks for coming to my channel!!
@Rationed07 my car was full.but could have fit more in it if it was packed right but everyone was putting boxes in my car so I was greatful for the help andI paid 1 of the young men probably 12 to load my car for me .cause I had a heck of of a time when I got home..but could have never done both Im 65 with several back surgeries and not much of a back lefr to speak of ..I have 2 more large orders I am taking most of this to my daughter..they just dont understand stocking up for whatever may come .but I have always kept a year long panyry anyway..lol grown kids call me a hoarder..I said yep but at least I will eat as well as others ..but now that food has gotten SO expensive she is starting to come around to maybe keeping more on hand.So I am buying things they use .she has 6 in her family. I am just happy I am able to do this for her.. The prices are only going to continue going up ..so I will keep on. I also know from now buying from Azure for 4 years now..I buy gallon jars of spices .I use alot of spices. If they are kept sealed in dark .tbey dont go bad .I have bern using dry mustard I have had for 6 years still tastes great..I am very careful to keep my food very dark room .as cool as possible.and of course rotate..I stock bulk food in mylar and in food grade buckets .I do not use oxy absorbers.waste of money I think. Happy stocking!!
@@sharrilswindle752 you're an awesome mom and I'm glad slowly but surely your daughter is starting to see the value in keeping a deep long term pantry. I also am trying to combat prices so I understand completely and I know its only going to get worse. Sorry to hear about your back but I'm glad you got help! Can't wait to share my next round of Azure mid year (gives me time to save a chunk of change) and see what else you may have added your pantry at that point 🙂 .
Shalom! I'm the opposite of you when it comes to stress/anxiety. I tend to unintentionally fast. My last stressful period was about 4 days and I had two meals over that period......and I had to force myself to eat those!!!! You had me look at my budget to get a ballpark of what I spent on groceries in 2023...and the figure is way higher than I thought for a family of 2!!!!! 😮😮😮😮. I could probably cut it by a third if I purchased conventional produce.......😌😔😌😔 I have to do my spreadsheets for 2024, so I'll do a cumulative sheet for the entire year.......this will help me keep yearly goals and not just monthly goals. Thanks for the roundabout suggestion!!! 😊😊 😂😂😂I was cracking up when you called the cow's moo a shofar........Is it Yom Teruah time?!?! Lol
Shalom my sister! I'm still thinking about you strategy and I think if I stick to buying the "dirty dozen" organic to avoid the heavy pesticides and give myself grace on the other produce that may help my budget. I am also thinking maybe go more for organic frozen fruit especially with berries that tends to be cheaper. So many things to consider! I'm so glad you are sharing in the experience with me. Oh and if I fasted when I was stressed I would certainly be at a healthy weight lol fasting has tons of benefits but regardless the stress in any case isn't good. Thank for sharing and hanging out with me!
Hi! So the farmers markets are cheaper than the stores where you live? I live in Sweden and here it´s a bit the opposite. But it´s not that much expensive and it´s often much better quality and worth it for other reasons to. When I buy stuff at the farmers market I know that it´s a local product and that I support resiliens, economy and families in my area. I know who grew it and that it´s organic or near organic tho grown by a small family farm that can´t afford getting the "organic seal" tho are at least as good as the ones who have one. And at the farmers market here all produce are in season in our area. The price you pay for that fruit is about what we would pay in a grossery store tho bananas would be double that prize and even more for organic and fair trade. I wouldn´t buy cantalope in the winter since it´s not season (isn´t that tasty this time of the year either) in this parts of the world but I can´t resist bananas... I am doing the #threeriverschallenge to, I do something in that way every year. We live in a appartment, in a city without alot of land to grow stuff on. I am foraging alot (we are aloud to do so everywhere in Sweden), both mushroom, berries aso. friends and family gives me loooads of overflow from their gardens to and I am very thankful for that. I can quite alot, jam, pickles, chutney and such and I do some big batch cooking tho we are also just two, not a big homesteading family. This year I am challenging us to eat out the pantry, freezer and fridge during at least january and february , perhaps march to. We have way to much food that need to be rotated and eaten up before spring/summer and new harvest. I eat 100% vegetarian and my partner eats meat but enjoy vegetarian food to, as long as it´s not loads of beans. In january I gave myself about 50 dollar if we need it for fresh greens and if we are out of something that can´t get substituted in a recipe. It´s the 16:th today and I have about 30 dollar left. In february I hope to get by with 50 dollar to tho I am not sure if my partner think that is enough, he is not as flexible with what he eat as I am...
Wow thanks so much for commenting. The farmers market here that I am referring to supplies more of wholesale fruits and veggies not necessarily organic and thats why the prices are cheaper. We have another farmers market on Fridays but the real farmers there don't sell any fruit unfortunately, but I do try to support them as best I can when I can. I love that you forage so much and get to reap the rewards of your family's harvest throughout the year. Its nice to hear from small families of 2 and its great that you and your partner are able to work from 50 a month! I wish you well on your challenge and want to hear more about it as we move along.
About soybeans. 100 lbs of dry soybeans will make about 120 lbs of tofu, and leave you with a fair amount of okara. Okara can be added to baked goods. Soybeans are good just cooked as beans. They have a high fat content for a bean so storage is a bit pickier than for other beans. Dryness matters a lot. I was not happy with making soy milk using the stove top method, too much trouble for inconsistent results, and bought a Soybella. Since I use soy milk regularly, I made back the expense of it before I was a third of the way through a 25lb of soybeans. If you decide to make tofu often you might find it, or another soy milk maker, useful. Also consider eating the new oats while they are fresh. I’d suggest storing the packets in an airtight container for an emergency. Don’t deprive yourself of the great taste and health benefits of the good oats, to save money. Everything I wrote is meant with love, if it sounds otherwise I am a clutch. hope you did not get too tired putting it all away. That is a lot of work.
Oh my goodness such great tips thank you so much for your comment. I haven't heard of okara but will be researching it for sure! I have a vitamix blender that does very well with making bean and nut milks I just strain it through a nut bag although we don't drink much soy milk. I am so glad to know how far 25lbs of beans goes thats super helpful. Please definitely keep sharing great information like this! Much appreciated 🙂
Im new and considering making my first purchase from azure. So you can get your azure order shipped to your home? If so do you still have to wait the same amount of time as picking it up from a drop location?
I have only ever gone to a drop location for pickup as home delivery was more expensive but it is an option and I think that changes the speed at which you receive your order but I'm not 100% sure. Either way I really do enjoy using azure for bulk ordering but still do your research so that you can find the best deals possible.
I also love the spices and oils and that things are organic and nongmo. I dont often get the produce because of the distance but I might consider it for next time! Thanks for stopping by.
Price if you bought individual apples - cheapest sale type that week? BOGO not necessarily the best price in my store. Will you two actually eat that much fruit in the week or is that more than a week's worth?
Yes I agree sometimes the loose fruit is the better deal but not this time unfortunately. My husband and I do eat a alot of fruit during the week he eats way more than I do and uses bananas in his smoothies everyday. We are going to be planting an orchard soon but it will take some time before we can reap the rewards of that. If I am lucky I will have some fruit rollover into next week but it won't be much.
Thank you! I am family of 1 with a son in college who is home during the usual school breaks. I think I am going to place an order. Definitely ordering sprouted wheat berries.
Yes I've seen people make tofu from different legumes I haven't tried to yet but I would like to at some point! If you try to make it before me let me know how it turns out I'd be curious to know!
Western Washington state. From central Illinois farm family so gardening family for sure. Collards not our family history but i like them. Sixty years on West Coast means fish and Asian foods a normal part of my diet now. New to your channel.
Weight will vary from day to day - poop time or not. Your general pattern is weight loss. Very good. With less pounds will come less hunger. (240 and now 170 due to medical problem but also less appetite.) Looking good to me. Remember the weight went on slowly, i assume, and goes off slowly too.
I got all of mine from sams club they are nsf grade shelving. They are really durable and on wheels so I can move them and clean around them easily. Hope that helps!!
We do cabbage, hog jowl, pork, blackeyed peas, potatoes and cornbread.❤❤❤ Its always nice to find a christian channel. Hope you have great success on youtube. I have 3 cats.
