About 1951 i was 8 yrs old. My mother picked up bread for the pig's food from a bakery. Bread was packaged in waxed paper back then. The bakery broke the loaves open so it would be unusable as people food. She brought it home and salvaged half loaves as best she could. (It was not free but the cost was low.)She worked full time at a war plant making bombs for the Korean War. My stepdad was a tenant farmer. Yet we ate "mayo" sandwiches when there was no baloney. Food is precious. We must value it whether from the garden, the food bank, or even a stores surplus meant for animal food. I respect your openness and values.

Thank you so much for sharing about your mom. Shes a wonderfully frugal superhero and great example of making it work and being savy. I totally agree that food is precious and we need to make the most of what we have and can get for free or reasonably priced. I so appreciate your comment!

I am truly enjoying your videos, they come from the heart. In respect to the $$ to spend in the year as in 6000+. You are ahead of the game as you have chickens and a big garden. If someone truly had to only live on that amount it would truly be a stretch. I am in Canada and items are very expensive, in my opinion. I am enjoying your journey and look forward to following along.

First, I love your intro with the cows, and the continuing serenade. I too struggle with emotional eating when I’m stressed. I don’t have a clue how much we spend on groceries each month. Thanks for nudging me to be more mindful.

I'm glad I'm not alone with my emotional eating. Glad you love the cows as much as I do! Thanks so much for joining me.

Shalom! I'm the opposite of you when it comes to stress/anxiety. I tend to unintentionally fast. My last stressful period was about 4 days and I had two meals over that period......and I had to force myself to eat those!!!! You had me look at my budget to get a ballpark of what I spent on groceries in 2023...and the figure is way higher than I thought for a family of 2!!!!! 😮😮😮😮. I could probably cut it by a third if I purchased conventional produce.......😌😔😌😔 I have to do my spreadsheets for 2024, so I'll do a cumulative sheet for the entire year.......this will help me keep yearly goals and not just monthly goals. Thanks for the roundabout suggestion!!! 😊😊 😂😂😂I was cracking up when you called the cow's moo a shofar........Is it Yom Teruah time?!?! Lol

Shalom my sister! I'm still thinking about you strategy and I think if I stick to buying the "dirty dozen" organic to avoid the heavy pesticides and give myself grace on the other produce that may help my budget. I am also thinking maybe go more for organic frozen fruit especially with berries that tends to be cheaper. So many things to consider! I'm so glad you are sharing in the experience with me. Oh and if I fasted when I was stressed I would certainly be at a healthy weight lol fasting has tons of benefits but regardless the stress in any case isn't good. Thank for sharing and hanging out with me!

So this year we are going low spend year. I have a stocked pantry that I built over the years. The thrifty plan says my husband and I are allotted $6804, however we are going lower. We are doing $75 per week which is $3900 for the year. Then I have allotted $120 per month which will be for either Thrive Life or Azure. So our total budget is $5340. I do the pantry challenge in January and February so that cash will just sit in an envelope. So, it’s on this year!
