Garchomp needs Dragon Dance and Metagross needs Shift Gear or Shell Smash to keep up in a meta where half the competition are super effective against them offensively or resistant to them defensively.
i dont get why Slaking is NOT a Pseudo-Legendary Base stats 670 sure it has a bad Ability Truant bit why not and if it is cuz it is npt a dragon so are Tyranitar and Metagross help me
I know its not the "official format", but I think in Smogon singles, pseudos have resisted a bit better, while many of your points still apply. Dragapult is OU top tier, and Dragonite is thriving in this gen as well, Baxcalibur and Archaludon (pseudo by stats) were banned to Ubers and the rest are sitting in UU (UUBL in Garchomp's case), which considering the tier's power level, is nothing to be ashamed of. The only outlier is Goodra because it's directly outclassed by its regional form
The problem with Pseudo Legends is that after Metagross they decided everyone had to be a Dragon for some reason. The Paradox show the value in very strong Pokemon of any type.
btw heres the actual reason pseudo legendaries fell: Baxcalibur is boring and ugly and heck. like cmon they made the coolest pseudo legendary with Dragapult then made that? holly molly
Nice video but it doesn't really answer the question. Why are they getting less use? Sure, power creep, but what exactly make the new pokemon that much stronger if it isn't sheer stats ? I think that deserves to be explored a bit more in depth.
its time to give metagross shift gear and crabhammer and a better HA in iron fist, analytic, download or even sheer force thick fat suits dragonite but idk if if would help that much, speed boost ties in well with the pokedex entries salamence can get the inverse of intimidate which is defiant tyranitar could get by with solid rock or maybe battle armor hydreigon and berserk are meant to be together goodra needs a huge rework, add poison type, regenerator or filter Kommo-o is still busted imo just give dragapult parental bond delete baxcaliber from the game pls
Summary: -Today’s Pokémon are minmaxed to hell in back like they’re swiss army knifes, making mons that were once considered “good” look bad nowadays in comparison (or mid at best) -The average pseudo and legendary are always built like “Jack of all traits”, or used to be until Gen 8 -Fairy is so broken it makes Dragon look bad (Roaring Moon, Raging Bolt, Koraidon and Miraidon would like a word with you) -Look above but add in Psychic being more and more useless in Tyranitar’s case -In Metagross’ specific case, Steel losing its Ghost and Dark resistances in Gen 6 really hurts the Steel/Psychic, making weak to said types ever since. The Explosion nerf also didn’t help.
Mace Windu: You are in the 600 BST Club. But we do not grant you the rank of Pseudo Legendary Archaludon: What. This is outrageous. How can you be in the 600 BST Club but not be a Pseudo Legendary
I think the main thing that happened with pseudolegendaries is that their stats aren't as optimized as the new Pokemon. A lot of the Pseudos have a lot of points in both of their attacking stats allowing them to be mixed attackers or choose between being fully physical or special, heck even Garchomp has run Fire Blast at times for coverage. They also often have middling speed stats, that either have been powercrept enough to be considered slow, or aren't fully slow enough to take advantage of trick room. The new paradox pokemon are the most obvious example of this optimization creep. Their base stat totals aren't as high as the pseudos, but they're much more optimized. Flutter Mane has 135 in special attack and speed, and the rest of its stats are mostly irrelevant, allowing it to hyper specialize into being a fast special attacker. Iron Hands and Great tusk have like, 0 special attack and speed stats and dumped everything else into attack and bulk, allowing them to be incredibly optimized bulky physical attackers. Power creep is definitely a thing, but optimization creep is the real killer here.
The quality of your videos is really amazing, keep up the good work! If you ever wanna spar I'm down lol, I always like fierce battles with intensity xD
18:00 i consider Archaludon as nothing but a mistake of gen 9 power creep, we got ANOTHER set of legendary level categorized pokemon (the paradoxes), multiple evolutions to older pokemon reached the 550 BST and above the highest of these reaches being Archaludon, moves that were already good like dragon dance and acid spray got superior versions in tidy up and Lumina crash, and oh ya, outright mistakes like the ruinous quartet were made.
600 base stats is getting closer and closer to average every gen, and without the comsiderable stat advantage most of them are just underwhelming and don't have the best typings
