At Pointy not Sharp I'm bringing you in depth breakdowns for as many different bayonets as I can get my hands on. If you would like to see something in particular, please let me know. If I make any mistakes or you have more info I missed, please feel free to comment or message me. I'm committed to making an accurate and easily accessible resourse for anyone interested in pointy stabby things
More often than not the more tools you attempt to cram onto something like this, the actual practicality of each tool dwindles as more things are added. With all those tools at the end of the day, the most common thing you’re gonna use is the bottle opener and the staby end
Hi, i just got a 1916 dated sawback, i tried to take the wooden grips off for çleaning, but the two bolts/screws just spin around, as u know the bolts dont have a screwdriver slot for grip/tighting/untighting, they are flat, do u know how to unscrew the bolts from the screws? Thanks alot for ur help, great channel by the way👍
I've seen quite a few of these with wooden grips. Any info on these different versions? It reminds me of the Danish krags that had both leather and wooden grip versions as well
All great bayonets! I regret giving my friend the Glock knife. Keep it! You cannot find the M78 versions anymore! The OKC is great. I wish i got one while I was in, but I had a grenade launcher so I didn't get one. Got one now! It was made to resemble a Kabar because they are a strong part of Marine culture. That victorinox is beautiful and I bet its the most well made and comfortable out of all of them. I need one!
@@pointynotsharp8436 They may be made in the same factory but the commercial ones are of markedly inferior quality all the way around. Any leads for originals would be appreciated. How do you like the quality of the 87 you have?
@@pointynotsharp8436 I'm still a bit new to bayonets, didn't even know the dutch made an M1 Carbine one until now. They look nice but dang that price is high. I have a Bren-Dan M4, do you know how they compare to M7s? they seem pretty similar.
So happy I found this video. I didn't know if my AK bayonet was Bulgarian or Russian, and now I know it's Bulgarian. I don't have any other AK bayonets, but I have a L85A1, Stgw.57, Swedish Mauser, Kar98k, Gewehr 98 (the narrow one) a Ottoman Mauser 1887, a German DEMAG knife (fits mausers) the Glock AUG knife/bayonet, Manuhrin SG540, German G3, Danish G3, along with a selection of military fighting knives, pocket knives, military machetes and other stuff. I feel like I'm forgetting a bayonet too. I really want a few bayonets I'm missing, the Swiss Stgw.90, the OCK USMC bayonet, the Eickhorn G36 Bayonet (and the KM2000BW knife) and that Valmet Puuko bayonet you have there. All those I've heard are great knives.
I've been dying to find that out I guess there's a book. With all the margins but these came soldier in Germany or something. I'm your best metal everything come from there that's like Hilti nowadays get the best metal comes out of that Liechtenstein. I bet the company is still in business. I mean mine is 11/2 at least $130 years old the aluminum hand insurance tight as f*** I'm missing the Brown spring lock for the gun . Will I have a 20 years and I just wipe it down with high-end motor oil. Once a month everything's tight this unbelievable tool.. Hey I know you made this video like 2 years ago but I have when the aluminum ones. It's got a bullet dent. And it was used it's a little offset it ran into somebody. It is an 11:09. I would like to get a frog leather frog mount. Or something just so you can charge it to anything like a backpack dirt bike. What would I ask for. Anybody know a I'm going to make some. Give me the number can you let me know.. please. I've just been oiling it with a Castro high mileage once a month for years. Mine is very sharp. The metal sheath is awesome. Mine has a 50 caliber bullet dent in it. I'm going to design a rapier version of this. With a longer tip. Slide out blade on the metal scabbard. You'll be on everybody's go bag. I mean seriously how do you feel when these things you can't just the perfect size sword for nowadays .
I just got mine, though my version has the saw teeth on the top with the muzzle ring. I got the yellow off the blade with a soapy green dish scrubber pad, I got the scabbard cleaned out using two pipe cleaners side by side, it took a few of them but it got cleaned up pretty quickly.
this is just not even remotely true. china has hundreds of different steel types available just like anywhere else on earth. it all depends on using the right one for the correct application.
In the first world war German soldiers were issued bayonets with a saw back and as they arrived on the front lines they had to remove saw teeth. The cuts from them not only were hard to sew up but very hard to heal, in many cases for soldiers wounded with bayonets like that meant death in agony. German soldiers that wear caught with saw back on their bayonets could be slaughtered or horribly mutalited. So it was never said that it's a war crime but it was not tolerated in the trenches of the great war.
China abandoned this bayonet because it works and it's build better..... Corrupt Chinese military officials don't like things that would last long and work for a long time. They need things that breaks easily so they could profit from it during production or purchase.
I wanna ask where do you buy your bayonets in Australia? Im planning to get one of these M7 bayonets and bring it back to Hk, would it be possible ? thanks
Just bought one of these, they look awesome especially for soviet/post soviet military impressions you get a almost full on bayonet minus the blade without the high cost and no ID required. Great for collections or re enactment! 😃
