@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE Thanks Zane! We always appreciate your support and comments. Alex has some great progress on the panel van that will be coming to the channel in the next few weeks.
@@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE thanks Zane, it means a lot! We’re doing our best to get back into the swing of things as much as we can. It will still be interesting for the rest of the year and maybe into next year as we try to clear up things from the family and everything connected with that and the channel. Thanks for stopping by as always! Glad you like the new roof! 😃 and my tools are dry now hahaha Happy Building my friend! 🤙🏽🤙🏽⚒️⚒️
I should have kept my battery with me today cause I could have swapped out the bad battery in the unit today but I'm like 25 miles away from the battery
Nice work *CRR Pop!* 😁👍 I've got the older model Porter Cable that has a cup brush as an almost permanent fixture 🤣. I use it for cleaning steel and really like it. The grinder had terrible reviews but I've never had an issue. I always keep the shields too. I've had too many cheap cutter disks disintegrate 😬
Thankyou fir sharing the knowledge. Great to see what gearing works with a drill, and that it has enough power. Ive got some "retired" drills and didnt fancy buying a motir and controller etc etc like so many pimped bead rollers on youtube. Ive done similar tbings with drills and usually run a string round the trigger down to a bit if wood as a pedal. Getting it the right lenth is a fiddle and for the next one i was thinking a push bike brake and cable.
Those are good ideas too, we didn’t think of a brake cable, pretty smart! The drill works pretty well, it doesn’t like some of the thicker sheet metals but that is to be expected. Thanks for stopping in and leaving us a comment!
You got me with the memes on this one!! 🤣 You done a *fantastic job* on the back rack Alex! Following the angle on the back glass was a nice touch. I like the gin pole too! 🔧🔩
Haha thanks! 😆 I had fun adding those all in, I figured if they made me laugh hopefully other people would too! Lol thanks for the kind words as always my friend! If only the gin pole was real hahaha 🤣 Happy building Zane! 🤙🏽🤙🏽⚒️⚒️
We don’t have an indoor shop to work in and we get a good bit of snow where we are so it’s pretty much wrapped up until spring. I think @crrpop might be working on editing another video about it. I’ll send him a message and see if he can get you a more detailed answer. 👍🏽
@Brandon_obs_ls thanks for checking in. As Alex mentioned, winter here is tough for us to get work done. The C10 video I posted in January is all I have for the moment. The winter is going by pretty quickly though.
That's a shame to hear about the frame being tweaked *CRR Pop!* But like you mentioned, you could swap the body onto another frame once the welding is done 🙂👍 it's looking awesome though, glad to see another upload. Happy wrenching 🔧🔩
*That's a huge leap forward!* 😁👍 You both got the engine installed, now it's on to the small stuff. You're getting SO close to driving it Alex!!! 😎 I'm happy for you my friend. Happy New years 🥳
Yessir! Gotta order some more parts 😁 I’m hoping to drive it a little in the spring. Thanks for stopping in my friend! Merry late Christmas and Happy New Year!
@@Brandon_obs_ls we’re kind of at a stand still for the time being, we don’t have an indoor shop to pull vehicles in and the snows have started here in NH. We got 13” of snow last week and 9 inches coming Tuesday. We’re going to work as much as we can but sometimes get limited through the winter months. I think @crrpop is making a plan for the wipers, I can’t wait to see what he comes up with either. Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment! 😃 🤙🏽🤙🏽⚒️⚒️
@@Brandon_obs_lsI got some footage this past weekend. It'll be a few weeks before I can get it to something watchable with the holidays coming. Thanks for checking in!
Thanks! We like saving rotten old rigs here at CRR, Rot is common on older vehicles up here in the salt belt. We do a lot of rust repair. Thanks for stopping in and commenting! 🤙🏾🤙🏾⚒️⚒️
From cutting out rust, to patch panels and then the coating... I enjoy watching the *entire process* Alex! 🙂👍 You done a fantastic job my friend. One step at a time! Can't wait for the engine installation video 🔧🔩
Thanks for the input Zane! Next time I’ll record the patch panel shaping too 😃 I was worried it was getting repetitive and boring people haha Thanks for stopping by! Happy bodging! 🤙🏽🤙🏽⚒️⚒️
wow...brilliant idea who ever taught you the foil and h20 trick, thank you cheers! looking forward to using this on our family heirloom 1941 buick str8 engine loving your channel thank you for sharing your approach and experience through this restoration.
It’s an old hot rodder trick I learned from RU-vid and my old boss at the street rod shop. It works well! That’s an amazing heirloom! I hope to leave mine to my kids some day as well. 😊 thanks for stopping in and commenting! Good luck with your build!! 🤙🏽🤙🏽⚒️⚒️
You don’t feel burns after a while of doing it. Lol just like being out in the sun for long periods, after a while you just get tan 🤷🏽♂️ now the grinder smell on your arms…. That’s annoying 😂😂
@@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE haha thanks man 🤣 VGG called his hammer Tanya once and it stuck in my head. And the rubber mallet just made sense 🤣🤣 thanks for stopping in and commenting my friend 🤙🏽🤙🏽⚒️⚒️
@@workingmansrestorations7071 good deal. It's amazing how close the floor matches side to side. Blending the upper firewall took some trial and error to see how much to cut out. Hopefully my videos will help others save some time with that part.
Thanks! I’m gunna miss this little rig. The wheels are old 15in American Racing Steelies and the tires are 215/75 R15 Milestar Touring SLE white walls. They’ll be going on my 52 panel van when we swap the engine from the s10 into it
5:14 That looks like a 6' 9" LD with 23" moldboard(?). I have a 6' 9" LD, 26" tall. MM1, 25" spacing. The 6' 9" plows are pretty rare. As far as I know there werent too many vehicle mounts made, only S10 (Blazer), Ranger (Explorer), Tacoma (4-runner), maybe Nissan pickup and a few others.
@Hubjeep, good eye. I think you are on the money for the size. I have no idea what it was originally mounted on. I certainly don't see many this size around but it works nicely on my 4runner, very nimble for my driveway shape. I had to make the plow mounts and modeled them off a 1st gen Tundra setup I think. Thanks for commenting!
@@CRRpop I too had to make my own mount for my 1999 XJ Jeep Cherokee. Especially since mine is lifted a bit. Had to keep the A-frame level, basically built a bolt-on sub frame under the bumper. They are sturdy plows for sure and I like the trip-edge better than full trip plows.
@@Hubjeep that's pretty funny as I also put a plow on a 99 XJ before the 4runner. I did not have to build the whole mount and it was not a Minute Mount so a bit of a pain to remove/attach. I found an 88 XJ with the plow but it only had the Fisher big lower section not the front frame mount side, I guess that was unobtainable at the time. I got the whole setup cheap as the installer did not do a good job attaching the front side and it broke off on the former owner so he gave up on it. I used tow hook mounts and some thick angle iron and never had a problem with it on the 99. Plowed with it for 7 or 8 years and sold it to someone to do his parking lot. The 4runner is much better pushing snow. Love the trip edge on the Fishers. Sorry for the book, thanks for visiting! 🙂
Sorry, the case is just a bunch of screws that hold the halves together. Pretty simple to split. I think for the battery, a Weize tl1218 will fit but always check the measurements. I didn't put a part number because those seem to change as manufactures come and go. We're still learning on this video tutorial stuff. Thanks for watching.
Good idea using the chain like a saw Alex! 🙂👍 Very nice of you and *CRR Pop* to help the family member out. 🔧🔩 That little machine looks like it could fit in the bed of your s10! 😂 BUT, it's a hell of a lot easier than digging that trench by hand
Thanks! Haha I was thinking chainsaw noises when I was doing it 😝 that machine really saved our rears with this one. Haha I think the s10 would snap in half if we tried to load it up lol thanks for stopping by my friend! 🤙🏽🤙🏽⚒️⚒️
@flatlanderoutdoors2549 thank you! I generally use whatever I have laying around that is at least as thick as what the frame is. Probably in the 11 to 12 gauge range in this case. I'm pretty sure that piece of metal came from an old cellar bulkhead door. 😀
Getting closer and closer *CRR Pop!* 😁👍 Great job with the trimming, it's fitting quite nicely! I hope you and Alex are doing well. Be safe, have fun and happy wrenching 🔧🔩
Thanks Zane! Hopefully I only need to lift the old cab one more time. Doing well but way too much rain and the cold weather is coming quickly. Hope you're doing well too.
@@CrustyRustysRestorationdo you think the original motor for the wipers will fit ? I wanna do the same because I have a 69 c10 cab but the floor and fire wall are gone it’s really bad and I was swap a 04 z71 4x4
@@Brandon_obs_ls, thanks for visiting our channel. My wiper motor was removed before I got the cab so I'm not sure how big the unit is. I plan on trying to use the Tahoe one because I want the functions that come with it. If you have rough measurements I can take a look to see if it should work. Curious on using the Z71, is that a longer wheelbase truck? I toyed with using a longer wheelbase and making the C10 into an extended cab. Almost bought a late 60's Suburban to make it easier.
@dddddddd3333, there's multiple reasons for that, big one was the floor and bracing was junk on the C10. I also want to use the HVAC, braking parts, gas pedal, seat, wiring and other floor/firewall bits all in one without transferring to the old rusted metal. This is also ultra low budget aside from time which may look like there's a ton of in the videos but really not bad compared to replacing the whole floor and moving all the bits over that I want to use. Plus the body mounts are already in place. I originally saw this done on a C10 forum and decided to go this route. Thanks for commenting!
It has rust *BUT* it's even more solid than ones you see here in Missouri 🔧🔩 I've had a hand full of early 80's Nissan trucks and the frames always rot out something terrible in the salt. A diamond in the rough Alex. Still completely workable 🙂👍 Can't wait for the videos my friend. It's in great hands 😉
Thank you my friend! Its definitely in better shape then I thought I would find around here 😂 I haven’t found any rot on the frame miraculously, mostly body panels and I found some on the bed cross member after this video. My next video next month should be the Datsun as well I think. Thanks for stopping in Zane! Happy building! 🤙🏽🤙🏽⚒️⚒️
