No offense, but you don't remember the original story. There was one ship, with a super weapon that was probing Earth defensive capabilities. It wasn't an armada. It was sent to probe if an attack on the Federation was feasible. It was a remote outpost, and the Enterprise was the only ship that could intercept and attack. But it's all stupid fiction anyhow. We will never leave this solar system, not as human beings anyhow.
@@fuzzywzhe because the one ship got away. Reported the plasma weapon was only good for stationary targets due to its limited range. They needed faster and better armed ships, so they made a deal with klingons for the D-7
PERFECT. THIS is what I want to see. The ORIGINAL. The BEST. The round nacelles, the thin, straight pylons, the old deflector dish. I have NEVER liked the refit as well as the original, nor any OTHER ship in sci-Fi, Sorry, MILLENNIUM FALCON. But, a few questions: 1. The mechanical arm says, "Canada"? I thought Earth had a united world government in the 2300's. Canada still exists? 2. They still use welding in the 2200's? Even naval shipbuilding today has to be careful when constructing seagoing ships - liberty ships during WWII were known to occasionally break in half due to poor welding due to the rush to get ships into service. And that is just at SEA. The forces those welded ships would have to endure in space are INFINITELY worse. NO weld is going to hold up formore than a fraction of a fraction of a second. Hit "ahead slow" and Everybody Be Dead.
If they had used a more detailed version like this in STTMP (instead of the refit version) I think it would have been much more emotional for the fans.
This scenario is inaccurate. The Outpost were not equipped that many phaser cannons. During this time period Starfleet only has total of 12 StarShips same class as Enterprise. Even if rounded up every freighter, passenger cruiser and research vessel they still need time retro-fit weapons arrays
I’ve always felt that the Phase II refit is the bridge between the TOS and TMP constitution class. It’s a shame that it never had an official onscreen appearance.
As great as this is, I find it kind of amusing that the front of the bussard collectors look just like the Polar Lights lighting kit, LEDs on a flat board and all, lol
I'm not sure if this has been said already, and I'm not going through all the comments to find out. I'm going to say it anyway. The music from the launch sequence is originally from ST TMP and was composed by Jerry Goldsmith.
Much better, in my opinion, than the refit we saw in STTMP - which was really more of a complete rebuild, and hence probably not practical in the world of Trek. It wasn't just that the interior spaces were so different, the very dimensions of the basic ship changed. This was much better - new nacelles, weapons ports in the dorsal, shuttle attach points, etc.
I think why this scene was of such utmost importance in both this and the motion picture was that it put clearly in focus the immense size of the constitution class star ship! It is beyond beautiful! And this had never been done in the TV series!
At last! Someone who remembers that the chillers only glow blue when the ship is at warp or is powering up to jump to warp, and when the ship is traveling at sublight and the deflector is on low-power mode, it's yellow, not blue! The refit is still the most beautiful starship ever!
Entertaining but really this is really nonsense. You have that all wrong..... lets start with the Romulans never used their heavy weapons in your show, nor does the Federation ships. You over estimated the effectiveness of the phasers. The fight with the asteroid base would be taken out with just 3 birds of prey and all they have to do is launch their dreaded plasma torpedoes. One to draw defensive fire, the other to wipe it out, the third just in case. The Romulans would never fight like a flight of clay pigeons, neither would the Federation come to think of it. Not saying the Federation would loose, it may, depending on the tactics each side uses.
