I was born in California and raised in Arizona. My wife's mother's family are the Hammonds/Sutton's as in Sutton WV. I stumbled on Wheeling exploring West Virginia's beautiful hollers, towns and cities only via the internet. But when I came across Wheeling the visual appeal or architecture and landscape, the history her story, I became a bit enchanted. Over 3 years now Ive fallen in love with the spirit of Wheeling from a far over and over again by watching videos and reading articles on it. That last comment from Melissa though, about the people of Wheeling have a spirit like no other, because "in one aspect of their [lives] working to make Wheeling a better place" and never experiencing so many people so invested in doing so. I feel that energy 2000 miles away, its very inspiring and hope to bring our family to visit soon. Great channel and videos! As well as great job Melissa!
Would really cool to make this into a huge beer garden and tap rooms. The environment and building is beautiful in its own way and definitely needs to be saved!
My great grandfather worked at Centre Foundry way back at the beginning of the 20th century. He was a stationary engineer. He ran a large, single cylinder gas engine that powered the overhead belt and pulley system that drove much of the equipment in the factory.
I want to throw up , and cry ! This is difficult to watch even for those who never experienced the loss . I have been metal working since high school , I’m 45 now and been having to watch the closing of plants , mills , foundry’s way to long. I’m not sorry I remember when the decline after the first Gulf War shit started to change. And there was a certain administration that really fueled our decline and made us weaker (saxophone player) It really sucks that all these jobs are done in other countries that don’t care ! The skills are lost but not completely. Unfortunately if these places continue to be shut down there will be no place to utilize those skills .
I live here in Wheeling and I have worked for this company before. I just want you guys to know most of the people who work there smoke crack. True story.
