My sons 10u travel team recently started training with a Garmin bat sensor. His bat speed was 3rd on the team at 103 kph. Top was 105 kph. But his hand speed was top at 41 kph. Second was 35 kph. Why do you think his hand speed is 20% faster, but his bat speed isn't?
Just found this by chance, great video on hand speed and use of the tools, the Wiffle bat is a must to one's workout to help out w/your bat speed I've been doing that for the last 10+ years, including a Chute with a weight on the game or a softball wood bat 3 set x 10 rep each on my off days mostly two days before a game. Thanks for doing this video.
This is just superb, I have been researching "baseball speed agility training" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Penonnor Baseball Babaco - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my mate got amazing results with it.
This is just superb, I've been looking for "youth baseball hitting drills" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Penonnor Baseball Babaco - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my brother in law got cool results with it.
I have a question..I dont know if you can help softball players also but I play college ball and I am having a huge problem with having slow hands. My coach isn't really familiar with slappers, so I was hoping if you had any suggestions on how I can pick up my bat speed. Right now all he has me doing is constantly just hitting off the tee and getting used to keeping my hands closer to my head and not so far back.
You better check that device you use to measure bat speed. you are swinging like 80 not 99 bro!. Even MLB players only avg 80-90 Are you sure you are not measuring exit speed?
Obviously this is a segment from a longer video that does teach technique and drills on increasing bat speed and getting more rotational power. If you had watched another segment before commenting you may have learned something.
I think I got stronger as I got older, people don't take enough batting practice and are not willing to work at it, too many people, adults and kids who play baseball and softball depend on the bats more than just going out and hitting. I loved hitting 500 to 700 swings a week. Would love to get back into super major level again, and play at Disney world complex.
