I saw John perform live at the Country Gold night club in Modesto California! It was about 1980 I believe. I saw many a country singer there including George Strait. I believe he had just a couple of songs out. Yeehaaaaaw!

Boxcar's stellar rendition of this George Jones' classic is a striking testament to his versatility. Seemingly every time he sang, and every song he offered, came from the heart. Along with an undeniable wealth of talent, I think that was a key to his appeal. He truly loved what he did. Alas, the same cannot be said of far too many of today's country stars. To me, the man was, remains, and ever will be an icon.
