Great info! We need to work on Deschutes County and Bend allowing eMTB! There are people with health issues that could ride if allowed to use eMTBs. It is just crazy!
Standardized motor mount bolts, you can pick your favorite geometry and pair it to the motor, in a smart world, but it's a greed world. Probably won't happen so in meantime at minimum rebuild kits. And as you guys said universal range extenders and batteries, easily possible. Surely engineers worth their salt can make solid quite removable batteries, essential for battery health imo. They have to design bikes for mechanics and not consumers with money to blow.
Honestly I don’t need a 6th, 7th or 8th app! So not interested. Strava Trailforks Mission Control Rockshox axs Bosch E-tube All of these new comers need to partner like Bosch did with a Komoot Love you guys though for your reviews
Walking or biking on riverside in Tulsa has become dangerous because of the heavy fat tire ebikes going full speed while darting around people. No coutesy given so none deserved.
I bought my Turbo Levo just about 1 year ago and I have never changed any of the geometry settings. I don't even know how they work, so this video is perfect. I ride mostly flow trails, with occasional rocky enduro type trails. I prefer the more technical rocky trails, but I don't have that terrain close by. I have ridden Specialized mountain bikes since my very first Specialized Big Hit in the early 2000s. I love the bikes, but the one complaint is the low BB. I like how it feels planted, but every ride I get at least one pedal strike. I couldn't imagine having my BB lowered using the flip chip. But I will give it a try after watching this video just to see what it's like.
What are the 3 main benefits of OnX over TrailForks? TF has been very useful and reliable as I explore trails all over the Rockies, Southwest and even other countries.
We’ll give you the two we enjoy most - more up to date / refreshed satellite imagery so we don’t drive several hours to a spot that still has snow. And the other is no heat maps or sharing of information for trails on private land or secret stashes.
I'm using Gaia GPS for hiking / snowboarding / jeeping / mountain biking and it works well too. I like the combination of Gaia, Trail Forks and Strava. I would give OnX a shot but their "three different apps" approach just doesn't do it for me. If they would just combine the (backcountry, off road, hunting) maps into one product for one price I'd buy it and give it a shot.
As the latest bikes get ever closer in performance, could you actually add a Cateogry, for "the bike i WOULDN'T take home"? Ok, it's a negative award that might not sit well with the manufactures who loan out these bikes, but honestly, i'd rather know which NOT to buy than which to buy ;-)
That's a tough one, but we know where you're coming from. There are bikes we personally wouldnt want for our preferences/riding zones but thats not to say they wouldnt be good for someone else. If we had an absolute turd on test, we would definitely call it out though.
You guys were instrumental input into my Yeti 160E purchase. Love the reviews here, and even more stoked you tested in part at Coler before the tornado came through. It's gonna be a long time before things are great here again, but we still have plenty in reach to go ride.
Here ya go: www.oneupcomponents.com/products/e-carbon-handlebar Their alloy bar is also pretty good if you want to save a few dollars, its just not "e" optimized.
I got a Cube Stereo Race Carbon frame 29 wheels 750 battery 150 front 140 rear for £3100. Tell me a better bike for the same spec. £5000 is not budget.
Finally a tailgate pad with proper downtube protector. How hard is it to make a tailgate pad? Makes zero sense to have such thin padding for the downtube.
The ability to purchase and replace the motor on your own is the most important. Stop paying absurd amounts of money (either upfront with purchase price or after warranty) to have a shop do this. I should be able to buy the motor off the shelf for $500 and put it in my bike just like I can with literally every other part on bikes.
Some people laugh at me for riding an Ebike on the trail. I have a few analog bikes and I think even if I were on my analog bike I would still beat you up this hill. Some people tell me emtb tear up the trails and I ask whats the difference if a 20 pound heavier rider than me is on the trail? I weigh 150 pounds with turbo levo carbon 48 pounds together weighs just under 200 pounds. I see people out on the trail that probably weigh 200 pounds without a bike. Should we not allow heavy people on the trails too? As for e-bikers riding too fast both analog and emtb's both can ride the same downhill speed and yes some people ride too fast next to hikers both ebikers and analog bikers can be unsafe. Would it ruin your ride to be courteous and slow down?
I have mostly experienced good vibes from MTBers. Most are pretty stoked to see anyone out there on no matter how crappy of a bike. Ebikes and the 'vid changed things though. I can tell a difference between MTBers who picked up an ebike and people who entered the sport on an ebike. Two anecdotes: I got to the top of a local climb with someone I met on the trail. I guess my pace was a little quicker but he kept up and at the top remarked that he got up in only 30 minutes, which was his fastest time ever. Right then, 2 guys pull up on ebikes and look at each other. I've says, "that slow, really? We always get up here in like 12." I honestly think they were just clueless to what it's like to pedal an acoustic bike up. Second story: a group of 5 of us climbing up a fire road. My buddy in the back of the pack yells, "look out!" Right then, an ebike buzzes by, just squeezing by on my left and nearly clipping my bars. 2 more followed him. Not a single one called out to let us know they were back or turned and apologized as they went by. I think ebikes are great for certain applications, but I will say in general that of those who went straight to emtb since 2020, at least out here in SoCal, many lack trail etiquette. They kind of bring a moto attitude and disrespect acoustics. This isn't hate on emtb, though: I do wish I had one! I'd rip out 6-8 laps instead of 2-3 and get it all as zone 2!
DT can make cheap and strong wheels. Not this time 😮 They should've made them with bold colors for the release they look like any other DT, the type of person who shell out 3k for this is probably concerned about that 😂
I'm confused about the euro brake setup, why do some do it? I've heard that it's because of Moto but Moto has a rear foot brake.. I think scooters are euro but not real 😊motorcycles.
@@vashon100 I get that but on a scooter the rear brake is on the left. They claim it is because of a motorcycle but really it's because they ride a Vespa.
