I think these performances reveal the contrived and potentially misleading nature of these shows and acts. The judges, such as Simon, act and speak as if they are judging these acts for the very first time and genuinely impressed by them (e.g. "I've never seen anything like this in my life..." when in fact they have). However, as others have rightly highlighted, these acts have been performing for a while and are already known to Simon and the producers (the woman in this instance has already performed the same act on Canada's GT, AGT, and France's GT). Therefore, a show like BGT does not genuinely aim to discover or provide a platform for entirely new or unknown talent. It raises questions about the fairness and practicality of offering someone who has already been featured on other shows the opportunity to perform over those who have not received recognition or are not well-known. There is a lack of freshness and absolute originality in this contrived approach. Similarly, former performers on X Factor have spoken out about the problematic aspects of these shows, and it's important to acknowledge these concerns.😟
The fact that he said thanks for listening when he wasn't even talking. And is it just me or I was focused on the signs instead of the music playing that was supposed to go with it.
