I recall when she 1st appeared. Sure surprised everyone then. She shocked the world with her golden voice❤

this never gets old, I am like a kid who always looking forward to hearing the same storey.

The rest of the back story is that Simon consoled her after the announcement of the winner. He told her how excellent she was and that he was going to help her. Her back story is that, as a newborn, she didn’t get enough oxygen and had mild brain damage. She did a lot of pub singing Kareoke but she wasn’t taken as seriously as they did others. Simon set her up for success by creating an environment that supported her, screened her from the madness of the music industry, and stayed by her every step of the way into international stardom and beyond. She was able to buy a house, but preferred to live in her apartment. She has traveled the world several times over and won many awards both domestically and abroad. Simon, the man we think of as mean, was and is her greatest supporter.

I am a South African, and I witnessed her first audition with my friend when I was 20, and we were in awe, it was one of the most amazing auditions we've ever seen, to this day, Suzan Boyle is amazing and phenomenal.

Question: whatever became of the people who finished "first" in BGT? In America I am not sure I have even ever heard of them. (No disrespect intended).

The only reason she didn’t win was because it was thought she simply wouldn’t cope with the extra fame. Runner up was just as good. The shock and surprise was obvious in her first appearance and it just goes to show you should “never judge a book by its cover”!
