Michael Burnham has this intense I-won’t-blink look that is frankly unsettling. It looks beyond fake and I don’t understand what it achieves. Her entire demeanour comes off as over-the-top intense. Sorry, but it’s terrible and sad.
In these clips, she's really desperately trying to be threatening, mean, dangerous. But she comes off as just a fussy old person resisting the very and only things that can save her. Claws out, only her nails have been clipped.

I liked the fact that Vance didn't follow the usual trope of being an evil admiral. He was gruff and stand offish at first but ended up warming up and in a way becoming part of the Discovery crew in some respect.
