This would be the DoubleGeek ... at www.reedgeek.com choose the DoubleGeek GEN2 Black Diamond or Chromium for a bit direct cut. Both will work on Legere reeds as well as cane. RG
i never understood why you have to spend 60 bucks on something when a regular razor blade applied correctly does the same exact thing? your shaving off a thin layer of wood.
Hi Sam, ReedGeek’s are extremely balanced with an ultra fine and completely true edge. They will actually leave the reed flatter then it left the factory and aid in sealing the pores. Also, they have specific curves to perform very precise balancing and profiling to the top side. A razor blade is not only dangerous and refined at the edge, but will tend to chatter and leave gouge’s and nicks in the reed when pressure is applied. … Mauro
@@sampowellmusic The ReedGeek can be used very successfully on plasticovers as they are rarely flat. Email us at reedgeek@gmail.com for a summer discount coupon.
I recently got a reed geek and I am very happy with it. I got a Bari synthetic reed, classed S, soft or 2.0 I got it to allow younglings to try a clarinet easily. Plastic reeds disinfect very well. The reed was too stiff for me, and I use 3.5 or 4. Thanks to you, I have taken my reed geek to this reed to make it easier for younglings to use. Thanks.
Hi Warren, Both the Classic and G4 will work on all synthetics. The Bullet was designed to not only excel on cane reeds but work extremely well on the Legere polymer. ...Mauro
Sure John!..I understand completely. Unfortunately, it is going to be very hard to produce a synthetic reed that will play equally well on various mouthpiece designs and varied tip openings . ReedGeek tools and specifically the new "Bullet tool" are the only tools on the market that can successfully undertake this endeavor with repeatable results.
Just got black diamond Already improved an existing reed Looking forward into a mound of rejected reeds I just know that it's going to save a great deal of money AND Reduce nerves on concert night Thank you , Saint Mauro
Man! Us old Dudes rock Man! Kids? Even the best, don’t have soul like this. You had to eat it, love it, listen and understand it. No kid under 45 can put more than one on one together man. No, this is not true. Sandpaper will not give you a truly flat surface. The ReedGeek utilizes the worlds most wear resistant alloys and is machined square and flat to tolerances -.0005" with a proprietary "True Edge" process. THAT will give you a flat surface. Thanks! RG
