I have hyperkyphosis thoracic spine after a trauma, multiple fracture. 2 fusions cervical and thoracic. Failed thoracic fusion, ongoing pain for the last 10 years I’m so beside myself. Have not have a pain consult since 2019 And can’t get one. I’m so lost. In 2022 when I have my metalware removed, PET/CT showed extensive DISH throughout vertebrae in cervical and thoracic spine, sternum and both shoulders. I have 5 herniating two Of which have impingement. Kyphosis is at 90 degrees, problems with shortness of breath and swallowing, digestion, palpitations. The pain is just getting worse. I really do not see a very good future with poor health care in this country and no one taking me seriously, no support from family and I just feel myself slowly dying to be honest. Things are progressing so quickly.

The running joke in the medical profession is that the only people who believe spine surgery works are the spine surgeons.

Hello. I have numbness and loss of sensation in my both palms along with some relative mild muscle weakness in my fingers. It feels like I have pressure in my palms making it a bit difficult to move my fingers. I also experience tightness in the diagram, balance problems and hyper reflexes in my legs. I suspect I have cord compression. Can I survive whiteout surgery?

I just wanted to say thank you all for making this available. I had a recent diagnosis and referral to a surgeon and this discussion has helped me a lot to understand the decision making process behind surgical techniques for cervical problems but also the patient-trusting aspect of what is right for each person. I appreciate y’all took this time.

I've read that most primary spinal tumors are benign. Is that true?

most of the data presented supporting en bloc resection is a decade old!! Can authors suggest any recent data showing spondylectomy is better than intralesional treatment ?

Please can you help me, I am a 72 year old. One morning I woke up with severe shoulder pain IN BOTH BOTH shoulders. I never had any problem before then. I have had x-ray, some pathology, but no dislocation, some arthritic changes but minimal, I underwent an injection with cortisone and lidocaine, helped for a couple of hours but then that was it, I've been in therapy now for three weeks, I do all the exercises, some tiresome but i can do them -- I feel much less pain in the day than I do at night, at night I suffer so bad --- worse is the fact that I am a side sleeper, I try my best to sleep on my back but it isn't happening. I don't know what to do anymore, I am in such terrible pain, I've taken Asprin, Nabumeton, I use Salonpas, I went and got myself Aspercreme, nothing -- nothing. I do not know what is wrong or what to do. I will say that one time when I first went to therapy, he pressed on the left side of my neck and it improved the pain, but only for an hour or so and went right back. I have trouble especially trying to dress to put on coats, sweaters pulling up my pajamas when I go to the bathroom at night. Its two months I have an appointment to go back to the doctor on March 18th, but my God when you are suffering like this, every hour seems like a year. You guys seem to know what you are talking about -- is it my neck, is it rotator cuffs (both?) I don't know -- there was some herniation at C5-C6 but the doctor said it was so minimal he wasn't going to treat it. But the shoulder specialist who was kind enough to help me -- I am afraid to tell the doctor the injection didn't work, I had one on my back and it worked, why didn't this one -- how do I tell him, without him thinking I am making it up -- its both shoulders for two months now! Oh Lord! Thank you. I just don't know what to do. All I know is that I am not getting better, I'm not getting worse, but I am suffering. Thank you for taking the time to read this book of belly ache.

From experience, PMMA does not adhere to the dura and extravasation to the canal is easily removed with a pituitary and kerrison.
