Its definitely got a high skill floor, took me a while to get over it. I think sadly if its something you want to learn, you need to really put in the time. If you aren't ready to give up on it I can help with log reviews and such ;D
@@wannabeme7206 There is lots of help to get started on the warcraftpriests discord, I also have my own discord which is where I do the log reviews. If you don't like using discord, there might be other avenues to help you, but it makes it easier if you are open to it ^^
@@manog2105 Disc could simply be brought because we do amazing damage already, but we also do good healing, and do all the other priest things. I think we will see a disc priest in world first, and I think we will see most guilds looking to bring one if they can on prog aswell
@@Bobzgfx I know it’s still extremely early to decide, but if you had to guess on a 4 Heal comp, what are you thinking? Obviously just speculation but I’d like your opinion
hey, have issues to find/adjust my disc weakauras. can u link us urs? would be giga nice :) thx for ur comments. thats good for understanding how to play disc
Hey! Is it possible to heal solo heroic on dc? 15-20 ppl? Or better not to do this on dc and spec to holy? Holy and monk heal 15-20 heroic ez, only Fyrrak require 2 healers, is it possible do it on dc?
It is definitely doable yes, but it kind of depends on the group. If you play with a bunch of undergeared players and each fight takes an eternity, then probably no. You just need a solid team and the confidence on disc and you're good.
So, you don't need to drop the pillars on the sides? Like two 3 / 3 groups left and right. Instead they could be together and drop the pillars in line?
We drop all pillars in one place yeah, its just the way to go during fated. If you don't do this, the pillars deal dot damage the entire time you don't have them broken which felt way worse
I sometimes dabble in other healers, this season I've been playing my arms warrior though. Sadly because I raid in 2 separate cutting edge guilds as a disc priest, I rarely have the time to send other specs, its just too much gearing :(
@@gregorymanning706 I might do m+ though, but not until war within. I don't really have anyone to play with in current season, but I'd be happy to upload some keys going into war within season 1 ;D
I might make some early in a season, but I don't push outside of the first 2 weeks usually :( I will try to upload some dungeons once a new season comes around.
Hi thanks for video. Any chance you would be kind enough to export assignments/timers and put it to pastebin so I dont need to make them manually? Thanks and much appreciated 🙂
@@Bobzgfx lovely, thanks for sharing We did some prog tonight for first time, S1 had only few pulls as shadow the guild threw towel in... best pull about 45%. Felt okay to heal but my main problem was I fell behind later in 2nd half of eggs with bender reset and kinda messed up. Have a good evening :)
Originally on prog I did, but during awakened we MASSIVELY shifted how we played, we started cutting healers and pushing at different times. Between my 2 better kills on Kurog, we killed our first intermission with THREE adds instead of 2, which made them enrage and shift my timers. On this kill, we killed super early, and the traditional way of sending evang into first heal absorbs in earth phase became a mistake, because you do not get to send 2nd evang into the hard part of earth phase. I didn't really think too much on this though, most of my awakened phase has either been trying overcooked ideas or sending what I used to do before awakened (which in this case probably resulted in lower hps.) If you look at the video again, you can see the structure being similar to how most discs played in s1. P1 is the roughly the same, the intermission instant ramp into teleport --> lethal current is the same etc. So there is a plan, its just outdated.
@Bobzgfx I have a question regarding your trinkets. Why are you using "whispering incarnate Icon" and not "Rashok's molten heart"? Thanks in advance and keep up the awesome videos man 😊
Hey! I use icon because it provides me more benefits, much of Rashoks value lies in the stats it gives our allies. After the nerfs, the mana it returns is irrelevant, and the trinket itself is only doing relevant % healing on bosses where I am already doing massive overhealing. I haven't done the math, but I'd expect icon to double rashoks value when you start to move into 550k hps + territories
Thank you sir. I also recommend warcraftpriests for most of the numbers theorycrafting done by their amazing disc team, it is very helpful. I also have a discord if you are not in it ;D
Typically yeah, because I play on EU, there is usually tons of logs to dig through since our reset occurs 1 day later. I will say though that when people usually do heroic, most disc priests play as holy when they are not familiar with timers. I personally don't think this is helpful, heroic is usually not hard enough, and getting the practice early and a feel is really important
you always ramp with rapture, without evang? every video i saw from u is 2 different big ramps, can u explain the thought process? i kidna just ramp both together and i feel like i'm missing so much hps
Combining rapture + evangelism is an approach lots of players take, but its usually just because of laziness. You are better of splitting for hps, but the difference is miniscule (hence why so many end up combining.) I feel like being lazy on disc priest is an oxymoron, so why not split and play properly? Regardless, big ramps is a weird way to look at it, I think radiances and total width of ramps is what determines how big a ramp is, any ramp thats 2x rads and enough single target atones to be 18+ players, coupled with a pet is a "big" ramp in my mind ;D Not my job to dictate how people play though, if it helps your mental bandwidth to combine rapture and evangelism, then send it!
This fight looks insane. Are you pumped for the amirdrasill to be awakened? I am because it will be something I have a bit more knowledge on, since I never did any of these fights ha
I am hyped for all the raids in awakened, I love this season lol. I get the familiarity people have with amirdrassil though, aberrus was a raid that many players took a break during.
Great vid mate, it actually inspires me to play Disc again lol. I've played it before during S1 and S2 of SL in m+ pretty well, however I got discouraged from continuing with it as I've struggled healing in raids. Comparing your performance to mine though clearly I've made mistakes haha. May i kindly ask you to answer a couple of questions about how you approach each encounter as a disc priest? 1) From my observation there are two types of ramp. One involves spreading about 9 renews, followed with 2 casts of PW: Radiance, followed by Shadowfiend and Evangelism to make Atonement last longer. And while all those effects are up weave in as many Smites and Mind Blasts as possible. Second Ramp involves using Rapture to coat 9 shields, 2 casts of PW: Radiance and Shadowfiend. According to your latest logs at Magmorax you've opened up with the first ramp. However in the video here you've opened up with your Rapture ramp plus Shadowfiend, with Evangelism saved for your second ramp. How do you make a decision on what ramp you're using at any given time? Do I understand correctly that Shadowfiend and Evangelism, whilst both being important cooldowns, should not be used within the same ramp? 2) When you do not ramp I noticed you simply continue with your Smites and purge the wicked refresh until the time comes to start your next ramp. My understanding in the past was that in between the ramps I have to slot in 1 PW: Radiance to help with healing the raid, as well as spot healing with flash of light. Do you not recommend that? I'm also a little surprised how you do not run out of mana because I was much lower at the time when I played the class (probably incorrectly lol). 3) Final question from me is I want to understand when I should ramp. Obviously one wants to ramp shortly before damage lands, so to that effect I'm thinking about configuring my big wigs to shout a countdown for example 10 seconds before the mechanic takes place, so I know I need to start spreading atonements. Looking at your video however I do not hear any voice reminders or indications that you should start preparing for a ramp and neither do I see any Kaze MRT reminders. So how do you do it? Do you simply already know the fight, so you dont need the reminders?
Thanks for the kind comment, happy I inspire people to play the spec I love ;D. For question 1; You are not looking really at any number of renews or shields for your ramps, you care about total number of single target atones, you want to spread 10 atonements with shields, renews, and flash heal (which applies 2 atonements, 1 on yourself from binding heal, and 1 on target.) Then 2 radiances to cover the entire raid. Inside the ramp, you are not looking to smite primarily, you are looking to send mind blast --> dark reprimand --> shadow word death because each of these spells are amplified by abyssal reverie, shadow covenant, and they trigger "Inescapable torment," another one of our talents. Smites that occur inside our ramps are still useful, because they give double cooldown reduction for our pets(our 4 sets smite counts towards void summoner), which is where most of our burst lies. This last bit also answers another question, you ABSOLUTELY must combine shadowfiend or mindbender with evangelism. Taking a look at the right side of the tree, we can see that ALL of our power lies inside our pets, if we forego a pet inside our largest ramp (evangelism) we lose incomparable power, imagine a fury warrior using 1 two hander. For the last part of the first question, decisions surrounding what I use my cooldowns for is super nuanced, but on Experiments here, I worked backwards from the mechanic I wanted to hit evangelism (strongest cd) on, which was the eruption from thadrion, this occured so early that I could not weave an evangelism before it. Its also worth stressing that evangelism benefits mechanics that deal damage for a longer period of time, whereas rapture deals with burst damage just aswell, since the longer atonement duration doesn't matter when we can top everyone off inside the shorter atonement duration anyway. Question 2; During this season, and the last season, discs smite importance has gone up, but not for any traditional reason. Smite provides CDR for our pets through the talent "void summoner," when between ramps now you want to press as many smites as possible to prepare your pet. Your understanding of how we play between ramps lacks the nuance that the game offers, if I were to offer you an example, if you were playing experiments and sent a radiance between the first few ramps, you'd hit that radiance into **absolutely no damage at all** but massively fuck over your following ramp into a massive 10 million raidwide burst hit, because you'd lose a radiance for the main ramps. Another example is rashok, your rule would suddenly apply here, sending radiance into the mini soaks between your big ramps is very appropiate, but because this rule would apply well on Rashok does not take away from the fact that disc offers more nuance than this rule would willingly let up. You are looking to plan out your radiances beforehand, using a viserios spreadsheet to see where they'd ideally go. I share one on my discord, where people can take my radiance planning and use in their own personal notes. To conclude I really want to drive home the point of; radiances are used and cycled such that you are not impeding on uses that would otherwise go into your main ramps, but if you have space to cycle a radiance, that is the correct thing to do. Question 3; This is very personal, you are essentially talking about what I anchor myself around to figure out when to start ramping. I recommend doing what you think is best for you, I use bigwigs timers. For when I start ramping, this is also a bit nuanced, but without pi or lust; I start at 15 seconds before damage hits for evangelism, or 14 for rapture (this accounts for the extra global evangelism demands.) With pi, or lust, I take that down to 12-11 seconds, and with both I always send at 10 seconds. This might slightly differ for you depending on haste, but might be a good starting point ;D
@@Bobzgfx thank you very much for such a detailed response ! War Within looks really good for Priests, so I think I'm gonna get mine out and start re-learning .Out of all the healers Disc priest feels, looks and performs in a league of its own honestly. looking forward to more vids !
@@alejvie With background you can mean many, many things sadly with frame addons, but I will presume what you mean and direct you to "Statuses --> health & heals --> health-current and health-deficit"
What do you use for your raid nameplates? It’s super clean and it lights up nicely for atonement’s and dispels, would you be able to export it? Also, thanks for these uploads, hopefully more people will watch, you do a wonderful job.
Absolutely love the commentary dude. Very good info, as I came into this xpac from a hiatus since bfa, I came back 3 weeks ago and your videos are incredible for atleast getting somewhat of a grasp for the fight right before a pull 😂
i dont remeber what the spells name owas but the one when you fly up in the air and penance a lot of ppl. who do you target when you do that, the boss or a player?
Depends, if you have atonements out, I target the boss since it heals through atonement with the damage it deals, if I don't have any atonements and press it anyway, I target a friendly player. The thing with Ultimate penitence is that its FAR more powerful if used offensively with atonements active, the upper limit of healing if used on friendlies is in the neighborhood of 2 million healing, the upper limit of offensive use approaches 15 million healing.
@@Bobzgfx Thx enemy with atonement it is! you have brought my hps up 100k with ur raidframes and help! thank you. this is the firt time i play healer. in 20 years
hey man, nice healing, can u share your addons? what is the addon that makes ur raid frame green when someone has atonment? and the boss ability tracker above the raid frame pls
I use bigwigs for the boss ability tracking, don't think I changed almost anything in the settings. This is my grid2 profile if you want the raid frame colour change paste.ee/p/r4CHm you obviously need grid2 for it ;D
