Love the build and am waiting for more improvements. Have you considered dual fuel injection with your standalone ecu? These 07k and tsfi variants make it a full bolt on setup with the best of both worlds. This could be a meaningful power and efficiency improvement before trying other turbos.
I feel like I've been justified about my thoughts of O7K vs LS in this video. Here's the thing. You can get the same amount of power from an LS with a cam and a tune as was just made in the 07K. And here's the bonus thing.. If you get an aluminum block, you are probably about the same weight as the O7K, maybe even lighter because no turbo, piping etc. Now here is the next stunning factor. dollar per dollar 07K vs LS... the LS wins hands down. O7K's work, but at the end of the day, you are putting in a lot more money for parts for the same amount of power and weight. Plus you are dealing with boutique parts suppliers vs going to every auto parts store on the planet and buying what you need which makes road tripping a lot more fun with less stress.
Unfortunately, when it comes time to track a car on a road course, the LS isn’t nearly as good in practice as it is on paper. To make them live, most people end up having to go dry sump, or wish they would have after several motors. This car had an LS, and it became such a hassle trying to make it live, they changed course and developed this kit. LS swaps are also pointless in these cars, why not just buy a corvette? It’ll be cheaper, easier, and faster.
Thanks for the info. You scared me when you pulled out the wheel dollies!!! I think a few 2x6's will work for my application, if need be. I need a few more feet for a post lift, but oh well.
Just an FYI, Pressure Treated lumber is very corrosive to bare metal. Kiln dried Douglas Fir would be as strong and eliminate a potential corrosion issue.
I tried a year ago with spray paint cans on my hood and it was okay. Then I tried again this time with a roller. The paint was so much more even kind of impressed. But you look like a idiot if anyone sees you lol
This is great. I've been wondering if you moved the pick up points on a stock TB. Other than going to a multi link conversion, this looks like a good option 🙌
***People buy this kit! Looking at the kit online now, that is one beautiful kit, for a poor man, this is sadly out my budget lol that more than I make in 5 months. lol BUT if anyone has the money and is doing this, this is the kit to get, comes with EVERYTHING, minus engine. just got my hands on a gutted 944 and trying to figure out what to do with it, never heard of the 07K engine....that seems like a fun swap. I was thinking about a K swap.
I hope you guys are still building these kits.. I see your site is taking preorders, but I'm just now finding you and your set up.. Purchased my '83 944 a year ago and was going to have to go the ls swap route, but now after finding this I don't want to do that.. Unfortunately will be close to 6 months or a year before I can put the funds together to finish the car.. Fingers crossed that I will still be able to pick this up.!!!
Windshield removal is mostly for junk windshields and practicing on anything you care about invites what happened. I've done a few with my bro (that junk was all he had and it was his shop so whatever) but the smart way is copy success if you're trying to harvest a good windshield. We did them with guitar string (the ancestor of all the wire cutout methods) and a pull knife but these tools are really intended for getting junk windshields out of the way.
Next time try a $15 hvlp gun and some decent automotive paint. Upol, Speedokote, or HighTech recommended. Probably $150 all in. Better result with much, much less work.
