I did the same think on holiday , my first time attempting a turn , some how did not get hurt . I went back to the beach and asked about what happened no answers . This is the first time I have been told what happened . After this happened I used front foot straps was not my plan but stopped a face plant .
What part of the board cut you like that ?? The mast or the front or back wing or propeller? Christ now im worried about letting my girlfriend try foiling 😢
joder! estaba pensando de comprar uno.....estoy harto de choques de bici de montana....pero ahora veo como es lo mismo problema con efoil.🤣 but looks fantastic fun and such freedom. but yeah, if you have to wear protective clothing then it's not for me.
Nice to see that even such an experienced guy like you is falling. That means everything is okay with me:) I was beginning to think I can't do this as good as on RU-vid.
Yeah falling is normal especially when you are still learning/getting comfortable. This video is over 3 years old and Most of these mistakes don't happen to me anymore 😉👍
I've done that a number of times. Mostly rib pain even with a vest. I've been lucky to avoid the wing. Those direct falls are mostly happening for newer riders. Definitely keep your focus. Thanks for the video!
Not at all.. Actually been doing this intensively for over 3 years now and running a school. Why would you get bored?? It's the best toy atm to me. Flying over the water what can be boring? And it's not only riding straight. Carving, playing in waves or with boat wakes. Learning and creating new tricks (still a lot to invent since it's pretty new). You can go ride in any conditions.. Wind, no wind, wave, flat, river, lakes, sea, ocean.. Why make u think it's boring? People are boring.. Not efoiling
Hey sorry for the late reply.. Between explorer and Patroller I really recommend the Patroller. It's much more playfull and fun. The explorer though will give you a little more battery time since it has a bigger surface. But right now my 2 favorite wings from Waydoo are the Racing wing (very responsive and playfull) and for wave riding and off power riding the Gliding 1500 is great! Both wings should be used in combo with the new surfing stabilizer. 👍 Hope it helps and hope I'm not too late. Cheers!
thanks for the video. I can’t knock the bullet part off with a mallet as you showed. I don’t want to risk breaking the prop by using too much force. Did you encounter this problem?
They seem but aren't.. That was my first 6 months now I ve been efoiling intensively for over 3 years and only once got injured at the beginning. With a bit of experience you know how to fall (and don't fall much). I agree life jacket and helmet is best but.. Not for me I'm a bit loco 😂
I had the same wipeout (falling on edge of the board) as a beginner wing-foiler. Out for weeks with very painful rib bruising. Had helmet on but no impact vest. As a beginner foiler you tend to fall a lot. After a while you get sick of falling and you start to try "to save it" but that's when it can get dangerous.
Same injuries and same cause but such a world between wing foiling and efoiling. Looks close but it's so different. To me the closest thing to efoiling (in terms of how you move your body on the board) is wakesurfing.
We had a guy at the local beach lose a thumb from the propeller a few weeks ago. Not sure if he removed the shroud or not. They couldn’t find his thumb, the water was deep. These things can bite. I sand the tips of my foil down to make them dull. Also had a friend who got hit in the neck when his wing board blew over on the beach. He had the wing leash attached to the mast but the mast was to windward. It nicked the artery in neck and 3 stitches required for his skin.
Ouch! My first thought after seeing your fall was rib fracture. I bet you felt pretty beat up next day! I’m happy it didn’t kill you or blind you or chop your head off. I have never tried this or any other board, just normal skiing, but as a former dancer and therapist I know everything there is about balance and contact with your feet. Men are often much worse than women on this but it’s actually very easy to become an expert: you just take time every day to feel how you are standing, that your balance is present and your core is grounded without restricting any movements. If you ever have to learn others how to foil and you meet someone who is really bad at it, who can’t seem to concentrate or know where their feet are, let them go home with red socks and let them sleep with it. Walking in red shoes works good as well. Weirdly enough it works wonder at grounding you, and to find your balance and contact with your foot soles. It looks so fun to do this! Be careful! Your family loves you!
Yes I do teach others because I am running an efoil school for 2 seasons now. It goes very well and most people get to fly standing within the 1st hour. Yes after this fall I had to take a whole month of rest. My rib hurted like hell. I fell on the side of the board and I am glad it's an epp foam board rather than a carbon board. THANK YOU for your comment! Try efoiling when you get a chance.. I am skateboarding, snowboarding and wakeboarding for very long but efoiling is the craziest feeling I ever had. It's by far the best toy on the water at the moment.
sweeet, 61 just got mine goin off......many crashes just like yours, no selfie stick...... helmet cam, and yeah pay attention or smash ya face eh.....foil on fukrs sickest ride eh👍👍🦾🦾👌👌🍻🍻✌✌🤳cheers
Seaweed is a problem obviously will get around ur mast and into your propeller so best to avoid these areas. No danger but forces you to interrupt the ride and remove it. No seaweed free areas on that lake?
It's great you have had a chance to ride so many boards. I have never ridden and would like to buy one. Which one is best? Which one is best bang for buck? Thanks!
Well I can only recommend Waydoo since I am working with this brand for over 2 years now and if you are looking at bang for buck then this is it. Very reliable and fun board. Of course Lift and Flite are superior but not that much (not by 2x the price for sure). It's the same fun! The Waydoo is playful and agile especially using the patroller wing and removing propeller guard. Then if you install the folding prop it's even better. Speed is over 35kmh now (when lift or Flite can go up to 42-45) and it's more than enough... I personally never ride at its full speed and don't know many that does. EPP foam board is great (floats well, light and durable..) and the plug n play system is awesome. So yeah if you don't want to spend 12-13k on an Efoil, I recommend the Waydoo Flyer ONE. You can basically buy 2 of these for the cost of 1 lift/flite..
@@NEPTUNEFOIL is the epp strong from dents / dings? Carbon better ? Will either or both support my weight without sinking standing still? Just did a feature spec compare with Waydoo and others this morning. How about Waydoo quality ? Where do I get service if needed? Are initial quality issues solved? Some reported manufacturing quality issues with V1 early on.
@@ericshufro8150 yeah the EPP is durable and take hits much better than the carbon ones and it also floats better. The Waydoo is a very reliable and fun board. Check out Waydoo usa on Google you will have a great support with them.
I think you are mistaking with the traditional surf foil (or wing/kite foil) without engine. These ones don't make any noise and can catch an animal by surprise. The electric foil has an engine and a propeller and make noise so sea life can hear/feel it coming and dive. Same as a motor boat. I have never heard of any incident with an Efoil. Got a friend who owns an Efoil school in Mayotte where there are loads of turtles (that he loves) and nothing bad ever happened. If you hit something riding an Efoil you will notice because it will make you fall. So hitting and killing a dolphin sounds unrealistic..
Good explanation. I think the issue really occurred when you turned backwards to check the drone. This exacerbated your very slight backwards stance and altered the attitude of the wings further, resulting in the breaches. I bet you had some 'oh shit' thoughts going through you mind! What contacted your knee-cap - I am assuming it was the leading edge of the wing? You mentioned soreness in the chest area ... I assume this may have been the mast or you landed on the side of the board. I know it all happened very fast - but you did fight the fall a little rather than going with it. Stay safe amigo!
