Only people who had locs will fully understand what your saying imo. I had my locs for 11yrs also there is something within that naturally just wants to let them go, its been 1 week loc free since 2013. Everyday I feel more growth and willing to seek knowledge and experience new things in life. Its like a switch that triggered a whole new direction in life. I don't even think of the locs anymore
Lol I'm watching in 4 years according to RU-vid. Just started a new dreadlock journey a little over a month ago and was getting a "refresher course" of info and found this. Your hair looks great!
in the case that you secretly succumbed to the human condition of having a superficial concern about your own physical appearance - you’re still just as handsome without them. :) But, as-if, right? That would be sooo shallow.
I am a "white" scandanavian-irishman who literally just got the top of my head and sides cut down dreaded. Ive inky had them for a couple of days. So i see a lot of comments over several videos said dont wash them until they actually started locking in. So im going to take peoples word for it. Especially if ines DNA deals with thin hair or risk of balding. My heads not itchy just the frizziness in between my dreads kind of have to getting use too. Especially when im use to manipulating my original hair all the time. So, i see a lot of people joking or making sarcastic comments which are really funny. So, basically my hairdresser told me to be gentle with them at first because they onky baby stage. Treat them as if its my own hair because it is apart of me now. Now my dreads arent normal ones that are just dreads. Some of them have the prebuilt hair beads in them. So i didnt think about that before applying them. Welp, its too late now, the prebuolt beads shouldnt be an issue while eashing right? My hair is naturally straight until it starts getting pass my shoulders. Anyways. Thank you for the informative videos and subscribed and followed!
I just "trimmed" (took about a foot off) my 20-year locks the other day. I feel massive regret in one aspect, but it also feels amazing! You bring up all the valid points, and im so excited to be able to swim this summer and not be as concerned over my hair.
Question….so I’m 6 months into free forming,I have about 13 dreads now,but the top front of my head and temple area won’t lock,I’ve tried different things,I haven’t tried salt water yet,my question is am I doing it right and they’ll eventually form,or do I need to try something to help thanks
I'm 2 months in, and when I get hot at night in bed, my head and neck itches, I need some maintenance desperately, but my loctician is booked up for a while and I'm struggling to find someone else that does dreads in my areas. Just a quick side note my head didn't itch too much after getting them done, that was a different kind of itch too more from the tension at the scalp which i had for about a week till they grew out slightly. Just now their starting to get a bit frizzy and hotter weather, they feel rough as hell not they have gone a bit wild.
I brushed my first set of dreads out after 4 years. 60 hours over 5 weeks. I should have been using some oils as I had a ton of breakage. I gave it 3 month break, and then tried natural/neglect method 4 months. Dreaded too tight to my scalp, had some family deaths, shaved it all off! Had short hair since, but now I'm trying to grow it out again, and going to make wool dread extensions to help myself with the sensory issues with the awkward growth stages. Learned my hair dreads too tight to the scalp all on its own, and I can't deal with the pain. Temporary locs are the way for me now, I suppose. And I love the shampoos from Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve! They are amazing! Great ingredients!
Please do some more dreadlock videos. Update some maybe ? Just because you dont have them anymore , you still have alot to offer. Some dont want to watch 10 yr old videos. Even though its good info. Maybe just redo some old ones ? Please !!! When you have time
Still watching! Lol started dreads years ago learned so much ended up brushing them out before the matured and heavily considering locking up again now that my hair is long again ✌️🤘
Yesss I use this method for the ends of my braids! I don't want to use a shitton of tiny rubber bands so I lock the ends of my braids with the twist & rip, works perfectly :)
A Big Thank You For The Tutorial.. I Have Kept My Hair For Sixth Years, And I Have Decided To Remove It Without Cutting But Finding It Difficult To Loosen It,.....
My mom been using beeswax in my dreadlocks locks 7 years ago in 2018 if I'm not mistaken what years ago and they sill long and healthy some past my chest and some touch on my chest
Love the info but one statement was incorrect. You can use a commercial dive helmet with dreads. Kirby Morgan, Divex etc are surprisingly roomy compared to the really old style mark V helmets which is likely what you are thinking of. But either way you just have to wrap your dreads tightly to your head. And if you have too much hair still then you just get a bigger size helmet. But these helmets are mostly used for deep diving (below 350ft) so the average or tech diver is never going to really have a use for that and there is a ton of different options in mask for recreational and tech diving to help not tangle your hair. (Scuba Instructor here. Hope that helps)
I wanna try dreads I’ve been wanting it for so long but what scares me is the damage part I keep hearing about and I have a question. What about the mold? I hear dreads gets moldy I’m not sure.
Hey LazyDreads. I know this is a really old video but im hoping you still check the comments occasionally. I was wondering, when you dry your hair off after a shower, did you ALWAYS rub it like in a clockwise motion before you wrap it up in the towel to sit for a bit on top? What about if youre only 1 1/2 years into it? My dreads are 1 year and 4 months old and i feel like nothing is changing with them at this point and i wonder if im missing out on maintenance for them with the tpwel rubbing from drying off. My hair is just like yours. Im white with wavy hair. HELP!!!
