"As a modern Automotive Technician the two most valuable tools are your hands and your mind, so wear gloves and watch Mechanic Mindset!"
Welcome to Mechanic Mindset. My name is Darren and for the last 14 years I have been writing and delivering Master Technician training for big auto brands globally. Now I want to help you improve your automotive diagnostic game; whether you are a DIY mechanic, apprentice or Master Technician, we have something for you!!
In this channel we will cover videos on how the latest vehicle technologies work, how to test them and ultimately how the systems are diagnosed. We will install faults and review them together in an easy to understand way and discover diagnostics techniques by thinking outside of the 'box'!

Can you relearn dpf sensor offset? Does it do dpf regen dynamic and static, will it do dpf reset? I need these functions and so many 900 quid scanner dont havebit unbelievably. Cheers
Genuine life hack that I now need in my life, never thought I'd be saying this. But I think it maybe time to "go on the rob" in the Missus sowing box 😅😅😅.
@@jdavis8610 As it’s often the case! I suppose you could load the circuit with a bulb or test light. You just need to be careful not to overload the circuit (use a suitable load similar to the original)
Hello, I signed up for your courses electrical ,but other than advertising tools I get nothing . More now 2 and a half week waiting for the lessons to start how to work with a meter or or the oscillator and how to find the circuit in the wiring how to measure the sensor and so on. Can you please explain how is it working. Thank you.
My VW T5 2.5. 174 160k miles dpf was blocked I cleaned it using hot water and finish gold dishwasher tablets letting it soak overnight and used air compressor to blast the crap out and kept repeating this every night for about 5 days until water was clear took it to the garage for dpf reset and measure the soot content only 5 grams soot left in the dpf van runs like a dream and saved a heap of cash
I cut my teeth using BIG, SUN Engine Analyzers in the 1980's; the scope patterns were AWESOME. Waveforms were stable, predictable, repeatable & analog. When SUN introduced the INTERROGATOR, and subsequent models with DIGITAL scope, the waveforms got choppy and went to hell. In 2024, the one thing that hasn't seen improvement from legacy SUN ewuipment is the IGNITION SECONDARY WAVEFORM 😢.
I suppose the analogue waveform will be hard to beat there. My Granddad had one in his van, mobile home tuning! The 12 bit scopes are pretty good though. The 8 bit can’t cut it really.
My multimeter is a klein mm400 from home depot , its built wierd as hell , but once you figure it out it aint bad , you turn it on bu setting it to volts , but it wont measure volts , until you push function , then it shows millivolts , i tell anyone that uses it , that it was built by idiots 😂😂
I appreciate the machine. But i think it can be taken off at home .. Soaked in DPF cleaner and then flushed with water and a conpressor through both sides. Of course you need to be careful and dispose if contaminates.. my research now leads me to understand / Research Difference between soot & ash ???
So the subscription is only for updates? If you decide not to get anymore updates, can you cancel the subscription and will the scanner function as it should?
@@LeeYang07133 yes it will still work, but any features that require a download will not 👍 It’s mega cheap to be fair compared to the full size subscription cost
This machine is so unnecessary, expensive, a faff. The manual pump is a nightmare. Somebody has made a machine for no reason, just thought they found a solution to problem that can be replicated with DIY tools at home. You also need an expensive compressor.
@@OmarMuhammad-s3v thanks! Unfortunately we don’t have that opportunity available - there are some great workshops out there who might be able to help. We have a whole training platform (and mobile app) with lots more like this at mechanicmindset.com
Good video. Please could you tell me what the expected live data pressures should be for a good dpf from a differential pressure sensor on both idle and fast idle as well as from a exhaust pressure sensor (single pipe). We use e3 technical at work which often doesn’t give me this relevant information. Sometimes if the pressures are too low this could indicate a cracked dpf but not knowing how low is too low makes it harder to diagnose. Although black soot within the tailpipe is usually a giveaway.
So there's actually nothing in this machine, no integrated compressor and no automatic water feed ??? So anyone with a 'watering can' and a compressor can use a rubber hose fitting to 'clean out' your DPF. I'm calling BS on this so called 'machine'.
In ireland a professional dpf cleaning is 180 euros. Or proble 150 pounds dpf removed and sent off. There are serveral stages cleaning a dpf apparently they say it takes 6 hours . Ultrasonic vibration and flushes are involved. Apparently high pressure water pushes the insulation surrounding the dpf out and possible the expensive metals also
early peugeots had a 2 part DPF that came apart to clean or replace - the replacements were only a couple hunderd pound - ALL the maufactures could do this if they wanted - - IF IT WAS REALLY ABOUT THE ENVIROMENT & NOT JUST MONEY !!
Hi, I am new to your channel. I was very impressed. You obviously have the heart of a teacher. Any thoughts on opening a virtual school for car repair.
If engine vibration plays a role in forming the waveform , so I think this test will be challenging and confusing if there is engine misfire due to non-mechanical internal failure ! , e.g : misfire due to ignition failure in one cylinder , which will reflect on the waveform behavior as it will create inconsistent waveform corresponding to the failed cylinder , due to engine unbalance I'm not sure if this will raise the waveform voltage value or decrease it , but I think it will be decreased opposite to the expected raise if there is head gasket leak It deserve an illustration video on the effect of misfire on coolant pulse waveform ! lets try it --- and we are waiting for your experiment !
@@mahdiscope2545 So this measurement we show here, the voltage is set very low. If there is a problem, the spike will make the small oscillations look more insignificant. Plus, it’s best to do this test with relative compression to confirm the pulse is related to pressure loss 👍
