My name is Carl Seggons I'm a small contractor/spanner monkey/welder based in North Devon, my videos are just afew of the things I get up to in day to day life running a small contracting business and filling in the wet days with machinery repairs, I appreciate constructive criticism and tips anyone may have to share in the comments, leave a like and Subscribe to help the channel grow!
Just out of curiosity, I’ve watched this video of yours as well as the 6 cyl rebuild videos and I was just wondering if the 50 series 6 cyl versions have ballancing shafts along side the crank?? As I’ve got a 3050 to rebuild at some point! TIA
Im not sure is my hex driver shaft little bit rounded, but seems to be nightmare to get it timed right so that the first two blades do not touch each other.
Hey man ...!did you cleaned a main oil hole that ends with oil pressure sensor? I have done this job already ,but have no video ... And my second main bearing oil hole was blocked too .... oil line to oil pump had crack ... good luck ,,.... want to hear a running sound and smell a smoke😂😂
No! I've tamed the local John Deere dealer and they let me have it for the weekend, you can buy them, contact Nick Young tractor parts, I'm sure they stock them
Good to see some more progress👍putting the axle on first will visually seem like a big step forward but I'll bet you curse it, having to keep walking round it whilst you finish the engine off. Look forward to the next one whichever you decide.👍
I am hoping to get another video up soon with more progress, I've been busy on money earning jobs and farming rather than tinkering! But it will run again!

Nice vid. Cannot wait to see it running. I am currently searching to buy a solid 3130 for forrest application. It would be the perfect fit with a claw trailer.
Thanks for this video. Great choice those EBC rotors. I installed the same ones on my Disco 2 V8 along with Akebono brake pads. Excellent braking power with minimal brake dust. 👍🏽 Replacing my rr hub is my next on my list to do. I got the 3-amigos and my Nanocom identified the rr hub.
Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to drive it enough due to more breakdowns 🤦♂️😂 if you go abit later on in the channel you'll see it in its current state
Hiya Carl enjoyable vid as always, this reminded me of my many years I was a stockman on a local dairy farm until he sold the herd and decided to rent out the buildings to the horses folk, he made an absolute fortune doing that and he only need one person to help run the stables anyway was still one of the best jobs I ever did, also I'd say most of those cattle are British Friesians as they are a smaller but bulkier breed, that's why the Holsteins look so much bigger than the rest of them but I could be wrong it has been a few years since I worked with dairy cattle.
You're right it does! I've started to grow quite fond of this group of heifers. Normally, it's just a job to get a bit of winter cash in, but I'm enjoying having them this year!
Super video... I was having heart palpitations watching you put the rings on. No matter how many times I've fitted piston rings, I'm always waiting for a snap 😂
@AgrimotiveFarmMachinery But people love when things go wrong! 😂 I just had a look through your channel and realised I watched the 165 restoration video I while back! Good video 👌
Best practice would be to use a permanent marker to mark liner to block so that after you have measured protrusion and you put the seal on you get the liner in the same spot you measured it at. Used to enjoy building JD engines, really satisfying when you get them running again.
You are probably right yes, I think the machining of the new parts has come on a long way from when it was first built, as they were all very close to one another in the measurements 🤔 I can imagine it is! I'm enjoying the build anyway as it is something that I like doing 😊
Enjoyable vid as always Carl, and can't wait to hear it running, and honestly mate I would be fine watching hour long vids on the rebuilds of both John Deere's if you ever feel like posting one's that long that is.
Thank you 👌 neither can I, if I'm honest! Well, I'm uploading as I go otherwise there wouldn't be a video for a while, because I have other workshop jobs on aswell so it's just filling the gaps really 🤷♂️ but thanks for the feedback though! 😊
Thank you, I bought them 2 or 3 years ago from a guy in Holsworthy, he makes them for all makes and models, he's called Bradley Ley I belive, I would highly recommend them to anyone running lots of machinery on the roads, as it saves alot of pressure washing!!
Wauw, that is black on every side of the casting. As I recently bought a 2140 myself I look for all possible tutorial videos for problems I might one day run into. This job I will follow up until the end. Can I just ask if you could put some extra work lights on the piece, so novice youngsters like myself get a good insight on what you are taking off and where it came from :D good job and keep doing what you are doing best!
You are 100% correct, but the trouble is, I don't have the time! I do have a spare 15p engine to go in it, and the knowledge on how to do it.... but time is a valuable thing 🤷♂️
👍just aswell it started and moved under its own steam as the chain would've been frozen to the ground.😂 as for what to do with it now 🤷♂️not a clue. 😂
Nice work, We’m enjoying watching another farmer fixing gear! You could buy just the bearing inserts to save money rather than full bearing and blocks.
To replace a rotor spreader, I would go for a shelbourne reynolds power spread dairy pro, either 1600 or 2000, it's a good step up but a lightweight farmers machine, brilliant spread pattern and easy to maintain 😊
@richardmorgan5785 I'm not a fan of rotor spreaders. However, it is one machine that will spread literally anything and not break, but... they can be very slow 🤷♂️
@@seggonscontractors588 not really slow 😁 the 2 Hi Spec 800 we have had could empty in 3 minutes in good dung 😊 they can drag 100 hp down at the time 🤣
Hateful hateful things those wests..... We ran them for years and years at home on the farm, cant tell you how many times I have forked one out by hand! More time fixing than running from my experiance unless you only spreading slurry / very light stuff! We decided to try a Shelbourne Powerspread Pro after the last west causing so much grief and was the best thing we ever did. Machines are in two totally different leagues, zero issues and output is uncomparable! Good work though all the same!
I completely agree! I've only run one or two, and every time there is something wrong or the ergonomics of it, just don't work at all! I agree that shelbourne is a better machine, but I have to say for user friendliness and general "get the job done" ability! Superior machine, in my opinion! 😊
