Great post ,weḷl done ! Could you please propose an alternative that is as strong and portable , but the light can be remotely fully adjusted through android app ?
We haven't heard anything yet, so the 60 we have is probably the extent of what we'll see for this product. That said, it would be fairly easy to adapt any appropriately sized transparency, so you could potentially print your own.
The calibration setting seems to be a necessary part of how the TCM function works. Godox could potentially allow the controller to apply different calibration settings to each group, but that would also be clunky in its own way. We agree that it's kind of cumbersome to use at the moment unless you happen to have a whole fleet of the same light.
The sub flash does not work when I have different channels on my flash on! It sucks and doesn’t make any sense to me. I usually work with my main flash with other room lights (strobes) and for my use this sub flash is quite useless most of the time.
You are correct-the sub flash is not supported when the V1Pro is using its Rx or Tx modes. It's possible that Godox will find a way to implement the sub-flash in these modes through a firmware update, but we haven't heard anything yet.
Does anyone know if this flash has "Custom Buttons" or "Shortcut Buttons" For example if I want to set to different flashes strengths I can just push a button
There is no way to save and recall settings at the push of a button on the flash, but Godox's Photo app does allow you to save specific group presets. So if you are working with the speedlite off camera, that might be something to look into. The app is supported via Bluetooth on the XproII and X2T radio controllers. If you are primarily using your flash on camera, it might be helpful to know that you can press up and down on the dial to cycle through power settings in full stops and rotate the dial to make your finer 10th stop adjustments.
The only thing I desire from this controller is for it to tell the (Sony) camera that a flash isn't attached to the hotshoe when enabling pause, so that I may easily view the shot preview as I adjust settings for an ambient shot, used in real estate.
Hi Jesse! Thank you for this video! Can we create own slides and insert them into the gel holder in lieu of the porjector kit? PS I love the jazz music during the slide show! Classy. The music also helps to track the various assessories.
Hey Kevin, Unfortunately, you will either need a focusing optic or to greatly increase the distance between your flash and the slide for it to be visible on any surface, so the projector kit is probably your most practical option.
Excellent video, right to the point. Thank you. I have a question that anyone can answer if this happened to you. I bought mine brand new and now ( a month later) the battery is almost dead and I decided to charge it. when I connect to the wall it shows that is charging with the picture on the screen and the green light. After 5 hours of charging I turn it on and I see upper right on the screen that it only charged 1 bar. Have you ever encounter this problem with your flash?
Hi Daniel, Glad you found the video helpful! Electronics do have their occasional problems, but I can't recall hearing about the issue you just described. If you purchased the unit from us, get in touch and we'll see what we can do to replace your battery. If not, we're still happy to take a look at it-though we are solely based in western Canada, so that may or may not be convenient for you. I would say that the issue is more likely to be with the battery than the charger.
@@Strobepro hello, thank you for your response. I bought it here in the US so nothing to worry about. Thank you anyway for your help. You guys are awesome and the videos are excellent .
Hi I’m new here.. I have a question does Godox v1 pro works with Canon cameras? I mean does the metal bracket at the bottom works with all canon cameras? P.s I am from different country, so sorry for the mistakes
Hi @jasiunaiteugne2572, Canon has a confusing array of hotshoes that appear on their cameras now. The EOS R50 is not compatible without the AD-E1 adapter sold by Canon. Other Canon cameras that have the new "multi-interface" shoe still retain the legacy E-TTL contacts and are compatible. The Canon Rebel cameras that lack the centre pin are also compatible with Godox devices on their latest firmware. At the time of this writing, unless you have an EOS R50, you should be good!
Godox does have a receiver designed for Sony flashes: the X1R-S. We've never tested the HVLF20M with the X1R-S, and it's unclear if it is compatible, but that's probably your best shot.
We'd usually suggest an on-camera flash that you can use for ceiling and wall bounces whenever possible. Generally, the most universally useful flash at an event is the one that follows you around. Flashes placed throughout the room would most typically be an addition to your on-camera flash. In some cases, an event venue may not have any usable bounce surfaces. Even then, an on-camera flash can be useful for filling from the front. Godox flashes have a radio transmitter mode and can function as the controller for other flashes. A controller could still come in handy if you set up any formal shots where you control the environment and can really use your off-camera flashes to their potential. It's just less weight to have on your camera whenever it isn't needed!
thank you for the info but I might be missing something, I have the the nikon version, when I switch mine on and in i-ttl mode there is no sync button, this only appears when I go to M (manual mode) how do I get it for I-ttl mode?? thanks
If I'm getting an Ad200 but want to use my current Canon speedlight wirelessly this? Can I connect the speedlight to the top of this, mount it on a light stand, and use it with another godox trigger on my camera?
Hi Adrian, The hotshoe on the X2T functions as a passthrough only. The X2T cannot act as a receiver. However, Godox does have a receiver specifically for Canon speedlites. The product you'd be looking for is the X1R-C Receiver: strobepro.com/products/godox-x1r-c-strobepro-xrc-radio-receiver-canon
This strobe is only natively compatible with Godox controllers. From the current lineup, you'd be looking at the X2T, XProII, or X3. The older X1T and original XPro also work. Technically, the MS300V also comes with a 3.5mm sync port, so it is possible to use a third party trigger if you have a receiver for it as well. However, the sync port can be used for triggering only, meaning you'd have no remote control over flash power.
I did something stupid installing the bulb and thought the silver part was the safe part to touch versus the rest. Strobe hasn't been used past start up test. Should i do something to clean it or has damage been done (i assume life has been shortened). Great video, wish i had found this at purchase!
Generally, the only part you don't want to handle is the flash tube itself since oils from your hands can then become "baked" onto it. The AD400 Pro flash tube comes with an integrated protective glass cover that shields the tube and can be safely handled. The prongs with the electrical contacts can also be safely handled when the tube is not plugged in-though you don't want to be touching those during installation or removal.
Because bounce flashes introduce too many variables, you will only see a distance indicator while the flash head is pointing forward. When using a manual flash power, you will see the rough distance where you can expect a good flash exposure at your camera settings. In TTL mode, you will see a range of distances highlighted, reflecting the V1Pro's minimum and maximum flash powers. The distance scale will only work if your camera can obtain aperture information from the lens, so be aware of that if you are using any adapted lenses.
Unfortunately, no. This accessory works on a variety of small fresnel head flashes such as the V1 and AD100 Pro. Bare bulb strobes like the AD300 Pro are incompatible.
Thank you very much! I just bought this as my first speedlight. You give a really clear explenation of it's functions and workings. Helps me understanding it really quick :)
Yes, these are multi-voltage strobes. That's a good thing to double-check because a lot of plugin strobes are single voltage devices. The DPiii series strobes can be operated from 100-240V.
Hi @JohanSchmidt, Unfortunately, no. The X2T functions as a transmitter only. Its top hotshoe is used for passthrough only. Godox does make dedicated receivers for Canon, Nikon, and Sony flashes. You'd be looking for the X1R-C, X1R-N, or X1R-S respectively. These receivers also have sync outputs and include cables if you wish to connect them to full sized strobes.
Hey Luis, sorry to hear about this. We have not noted any major reliability issues with these flashes yet, so I wonder if the issue you encountered was related to a specific batch. A very small number of these flashes have needed their trigger coils to be replaced. Electronics can be fickle sometimes, so it's important to buy from a retailer that backs their products. If you purchase from us, we include a 2-year in-house warranty at no extra cost. We also do on-site repairs. The particular repair I mentioned (trigger coil replacement) takes about 15 minutes, and we were able to get flashes on their way back to customers on the same day we received them in each of those rare cases.
Question: How does the Canon version of the X3 interface with the new Canon ‘smart’ connector hot shoe design of the R6mkII and other cameras? Does it use the smart connector or just the five contacts of the hot shoe? Can GODOX flash functions be controlled from the camera menu as with the newer EL-1 / EL-5 / EL-10 flashes with the STE-10 controller in the hot shoe?
Hi @TeddyCavachon, The Canon version of the X3 uses Canon's classic hotshoe. The X3 supports cross-talk with any compatible hotshoe type. As long as your camera's hotshoe is compatible, you can control your flash groups from the camera menu if that is your preference. Here is a summary of Canon's FOUR current hotshoe types (get it together, Canon): Fully compatible: -Classic E-TTL hotshoe (5D Mark IV, 7D, etc.) -Combination hotshoe such as on the EOS R6 Mark II -Neutered hotshoe with no centre pin such as on the Rebel T7 Requires Canon AD-E1 Adapter -Multi-function shoe without the classic E-TTL pins, such as that found on the EOS R50
@@Strobepro Thanks for your reply. I started using dual flash back in 1972 assisting top wedding photographer Monte Zucker who introduced the idea of triggering an off camera key light flash with fill on a bracket over the camera. I’ve used that technique ever since, in the 1970s - 2004 with Vivitar flashes and Wein photocells starting in digital in 2000 with a Kodak DC290 which had a PC connector when I also purchased the Stroboframe Camera flip bracket I still use. In 2004 I got my first DSLR, a 20D and a pair of the then new 580EX flashes posting tutorials on how to use them on photo forums and my web site. I still use the 580ex flashes with my 50D but recently bought a pair of R6mkII bodies they are not compatible with so I’m happy to hear the X3 will work on them with the Godox flashes.
Why do you need multiple flash reciever when i thought each flash unit has it own because they have 1-5 channels? So you need a reciever for each flzsh you use on pole or stand?
If you have Godox flashes, no receivers are required. They are built in. Receivers are only necessary for bringing non-native flashes on board: For example, let's say you had a Canon speedlite or an Alien Bee strobe. Let us know if you need any further clarification.
Thanks When I trigger the flash using X2T trigger the Flash works but the light stays on, Any setting to turn this continuous light off (post triggering flash)
You will have to disable the modelling light on your controller. If you turn the modelling light off on the flash, you'll find that the controller's setting will override it. Hope that helps!
