HARDWOOD ONLY At Boyds we use only top-grade hardwoods, because a hardwood stock performs! Every stock is dried to exacting specifications to ensure rigidity and stability, then sealed with chemical-resistant finishes for long-lasting durability and performance in all weather conditions.
ENHANCED ACCURACY Boyds stocks are engineered to perfectly fit the gun. They’re tight where they need to be tight, loose where they need to be loose for superior performance and improved accuracy you can measure.
SINCE 1981 Our engineers have continued to perfect manufacturing methods since 1981. That’s why you get far more gunstock for the money.
From Ruger's website, it appears the Magpul stock model has an AI magazine. You will order the short action Ruger American Centerfire model and add the AI-Style Mag Kit from our Accessories page.
We do offer stocks for the CZ600 Alpha. With the 600 line, you need to measure the distance between action screws to determine the appropriate action. Long - 5 1/2" Medium - 5" Mini - 4 5/16"
I love my Boyd's stock for my 7mm-08, but the part that screws on forward of the trigger that the magazine clips to will not seat flat. When tighten the screw it tilts the part forward down so the magazine won't clip in place.
As a trained gunfitter, this is wrong in so many ways. What he is explaining is for a rifle, not a proper fit for a fowling piece. Many factors go into proper fit. There is no one formula for this as he is describing. The gun comes to the cheek, not the cheek to the gun. Width of shoulders, length of the neck, the height of one's cheekbones all have to be taken into account. PLEASE, GO TO A PROPPERLY TRAINED FITTER, NOT SOMEONE DRUMMING UP THEIR OWN PRODUCTS.
I put a boyds stock on my daughters rifle and it's amazing. She loves the thumb hole grip for hunting. Which gives her greater control and strength holding the rifle. She shot 2 bucks last year both off hand . Not bad for a 13 year old .
Id really love to see some of these stocks made for airguns. The Umarex Gauntlet 30 or the Hatsan Blitz. The only aftermarket offerings I have ever seen are all 3D printed and look terrible. I've been grabbing Boyds AR grips and swapping them out on a bunch of airguns, they look great and feel great.
I was trying to configure a build earlier this year, this stock was already listed on the website but I drove myself insane because I couldn’t find info on it anywhere LOL i seen why when the first hype up email came out, guess it was was a glitch. Wonder what would’ve happened if I ordered it, only thing that stopped me was no adjustable comb or lop
Most of Boyds stock shapes are designed with a free-floating barrel channel. Including the Featherweight Thumbhole in the video. Learn more about each of our shapes on the Gallery page. www.boydsgunstocks.com/gallery#shapes
Absolutely, it means Left Hand Stock with Right Hand Action. The stock will be formed for a left hand shooter while still having right hand bolt action cut.
Awesome! I actually just ordered one of your Stevens 320 stocks from Optics Planet! Looking forward to getting it installed. I'll probably end up adding more of your stocks to my other shotguns/rifles too.
I got a spike camp for my ruger American go wild in 6.5 prc which they made in a long action, if I got the new gen 2 ruger American would my spike camp still fit it?

It is model specific, some inlets are compatible with 2 pillars in both screw holes. Others do not have enough wood material in the screw hole to support a pillar, in those cases one is installed.
I don't know what I'm doing, got a 6.5 Grendel Howa 1500mini 22" barreled action, agility stock with pillar bed and some resin. Do I need/might want anything else? (I'll be using one of my LVPO's)
Nothing else is required for installation. If you are experiencing issues with installation, please email our Customer Service team. help@boydsgunstocks.com
I was going to purchase this stock for my 6.5 Creedmoor but after purchasing a stock from Boyd's for my Ruger American rimfire 22wmr, I won't be buying from them anytime soon. The trigger guard screw was so long that it was protruding through the stock and interfering with the tang. The inletting for the tang is too shallow and the tang doesn't seat completely. The swivel studs were out of alignment. The barrel channel was unsanded and I got a nasty splinter from it. I am very disappointed with the quality and workmanship. Beware, you don't always get what you pay for.
You are better off sanding and finishing the stock yourself. Boyd"s does an average job at best, and they don't take the time to sand everything smooth. they also failed to check their inletting for fitment. This is a company where you don't get what you pay for.
Why can’t I not see any bedding compound at the rear tang of the receiver? I saw you put it on each side, but it isn’t visible at the end of the video.
Hi I recently bought one of y’all’s stocks for a Remington 783 short action 6.5 creedmoor. I am having issues whenever I push the bolt forward the bullet is getting stuck sometimes will go into chamber but most of the time the bullet is hanging up. I tried putting a spacer where rhe mag catch is cause the mag will not completely snap into place it seemed to help some but still gets stuck most of the time. Any help would be appreciated
If a fella has a Savage 110 w/ a factory mag. or a Remington 700 BDL with a floor plate and wanted to change it into an AICS detachable mag system, does Boyd's offer that type of stock?
Not at this time. The only models we offer in short action configurations that can be converted to an AI style is the Ruger American series and Mossberg Patriot model.
Not at this time. The Ruger American AI Magazine Kit we offer is only compatible with the following calibers: 204 Ruger 243 Winchester 7mm-08 Remington 6.5 Creedmoor 6mm Creedmoor 308 Winchester
I have a new remington 700 sps tactical arriving and it already has aluminum pillars... is it necessary to glass bed anyways? with that i greatly appreciate your approach to glass bedding! It is way easier than the majority of the instructional videos on here!!! very helpful and I hope you can respond! Shoot straight and thank you!!
Glad this video helps explain the process easily! Glass bedding can be added in addition to pillar bedding, both help improve the accuracy of your rifle, especially for long range shooting. With that, glass bedding is personal preference and only required on one Boyds gunstock model, for the Ruger American series. We actually send bedding compound with the new stocks. Otherwise on any other models, it's up to the shooter if they prefer glass bedding.
@@danietkissenle Our Sales Team would be happy to take your call and assist you in placing an order for the left hand Featherweight Thumbhole, but it would also be shown online if your specific model is compatible. In general, most actions for the Savage 110 and Remington 700 offer a left hand Featherweight Thumbhole shape. Please call or email, 605-996-5011 or help@boydsguntocks.com.
You didn't mark where your nose TOUCHED the comb though. You marked where the tip of your nose was, which is a good quarter to half inch further. Wording matters. So which one is it? Where it touches or where the tip of the nose stops?🤷 I'm an extremely detailed oriented and meticulous person and we're literally talking about precision custom measurements here that cost extra. I watched that portion like 5 times over. He marks for the tip. So... I'm 6' even with long arms, long neck, long nose and I'm supposed to subtract an inch from a factory 13" length of pull??? POPYCOCK! This doesn't make a lick of sense or check out and I performed it precisely as instructed multiple times.🤦 Doesn't specify what I already stated nor take into account different lengths of features on people, both of which would throw this whole method off while having zero effect on the actual person's length of pull. What a crock!
Fast forward to 2024 🎉 just mounted a new Boyds stock to my 22 mag. Gun is now beautiful, the only bad thing is they dont offer a estuchian for the front magazine stock bolt. I had to go buy a brass washer to keep bolt from crushing into the wood. The magazine area is flat, shaped like a 2x4 😢
I’ve seen people support the barrel with tape or clay near the forend when bedding. I am worried about adding any unnecessary torque. Why did you choose not to free float first or temporarily support the barrel in place while bedding here? Boyds Provarmint Thanks!
Most gunstocks models we offer now are designed to have a free-floated barrel channel. Unless your barrel is larger than the what's listed tech specs, you would then need to free float for any addition clearance. The stock in this video was already free-floated, and the 2nd video referenced around 4:25-4:30 discusses if you need to provide clearance beyond what we normally mill for our channels.
Most of Boyds gunstocks are now free floating barrel channels, this video is from 2015. Since a majority of our stocks come with a free floated barrel channel, you would bed your firearm and then do a dollar bill test to ensure the barrel is still free floating after bedding.
