How much would I give to my 12 year old 52lb goodlen doodle. This is muffin. file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/84/04/1BDE506E-6B71-4EA9-82AE-12E7E5BEDE04/IMG_7264.jpeg
We were able to keep my Lucky Dog who was a golden retriever almost 15 years by doing home made food but we started when he was 10 year with 4 fatty tumors and he already had pancreatitis. My 12 year old golden has been on homemade since 8 years. Your recipe is better than mine. I will try your recipe and keep my sweet Muffin who is now a 12 year old golden “youthful” golden doodle. My question is how did you know your dog was allergic to chicken ? My 12 year old get sick sometimes. I think my old recipe was too high in protein.
I’m so happy I found your channel. I recently lost my 9 year old Pomeranian Gus to imha. We are devastated. No warning nothing. Just was acting tired and suddenly not wanting to eat. I have been beating myself up because he was on a commercial diet. I have been reading so much about the pet food industry and I’m horrified. When we are ready to get another dog I will definitely be cooking homemade organic food. Thank you for doing these informative videos.🦮🐕🐕🦺
Please don’t beat yourself up. This of course is not a guarantee that they will never have medical issues. But I do think it definitely is a big factor.
Thank you!! I've searched all day to find a recipe for homemade puppy food, just kept coming up with dog food. Can you replace the grass feed beef with venison?
So I finally found the link to the recipe. Did not like giving my email . I already get too much Then the document is colored so would use up my ink and can't print it. Why? How helpful is that?
Thanks for all your great advice. Because I prefer raw meat, I cook my vegetables separately (minus the chickpeas) and just combine them with the added oils, eggs, and dry supplements when preparing meals.
I have a bag of the Chefpaw supplement that was included in my order. How much of that do I put in instead of the supplements you indicated in your video?
Do you have a link for the poo emoji trays? I can’t seem to find those and I really like the size, seems to work perfectly with the blended amount you make!
My cat eats dog food, the wet stuff not the dry stuff like I saw him eating with the other dogs the other day and they absolutely destroyed the porterhouse steak meal 😅
A couple of questions if you wouldn’t mind. Why add the pumpkin if it doesn’t add to the nutritional profile and what is the difference between Nordic naturals omega-3 oils and cod liver oil ? Also, I can’t see where are you state how many calories are in this recipe so we can’t figure out what our pets need.
Hello Dr. Jesica, thank you for a very informative video. My question is if I feed my dog dry food and cooked meal on top of, how do I know how much calcium or nutrients I should give my dog? Can you make a video please that combines 50% dry food and 50% cooked meal? how much vitamins, calcium and phosphorus dog need, I’m not sure if I cut the nutrients to half if it’s ok? Or overly supplements? Thank you again for another educational video! 👍 keep up the great job 👏😻
New Subscriber here: So, I have a 27.2kg lab mix with an RER of 1.6 and pretty much a couch potato. If I did the calculations right it is showing 41oz a day, which is about 5c/day. That seems like a lot of food for her. We also have a 40lb Glen of Imaal, and a 3lb Chihuahua. So, am I right in my calcs?
Hello doctor Jesica, it’s an honor to finally see veterinarian that actually believes in homemade dog food, every veterinarian that I took my dog always reprimanded me for wanting to cook for my dog and said that I won’t give my dog a full nutritional and he will get sick. Thank you for your great videos it’s really help us the pet parents to choose the best for our dog. I have 11 years old husky , he is getting a grain free diet all his life because he got really sick, but he could eat homemade grain. I didn’t like the amount of grain in commercial dog food, so I cook for him every day separately the same dinner as us but without all the harmful ingredients, if we have burgers he gets his burger or if we have steak he will get stake, I also cook some zucchini sweet potato parsley carrots chicken etc… Maxx my dog loves his food and love to be part of the pack, I tried to cook a different food just for him and he won’t eat it, it has to be similar to our meal. My question is can I continue the grain free diet just for the morning because huskies eat only if they are hungry, so that food is just incase he gets hungry if I’m not home. He hate eggs no matter how I cook it if I put cooked chicken and vegetables in the morning as a topper, he eats only if he feel like it. Most of the time I throw it away, do you think that I can continue the grain free dry food in the morning. And for dinner just cooked meal (like you did in your videos ) and add a complete formula for dog like the formula from ( Dr. Andrew Johns - veterinary secret, he has a RU-vid channel) the supplements called- ultimate canine advanced plus health formula and adding also krill oil supplements, please help me out, thank you so much, I truly enjoyed your informative videos and I also subscribed to your channel.
Yes, this is great. I have not analyzed his supplement recipe but, I do know of him. If it is designed to give with a home-cooked diet then Im sure it’s great. Some dog supplements don’t have enough calcium. If you use this exact recipe (from my video) then you will not need to add anything else as it is complete and balanced. Thank you for your nice message!

Thank you so so much. Its a miracle, when I feed her this. She eats every bite and does not beg for food anymore. Shes instantly satified. Its amazing...I think because she finally got a dog food geared for nutritional needs and when yheyre met. Shes a calm dog that does not beg inbetween meals🤯 I was shocked. Shes a teeny teacup chihuahua..and her needs are finally met. Thank you so much. I have referred alot of peoplr to your site. I tell everyone i know..they are very interested in the health of their dogs too...
It depends in the breed. Small dogs until 10 months, medium dogs one year ish, and large breed can keep growing up to 2.5 years so they need a different diet.
Hi, thanks so much for the video! In the recipe PDF, it says 100 grams of liver, but in the video, you mentioned 80 grams. Should I split the difference and go with 90? thank you!! Also, I didn't see blueberries and mushroom powder in the PDF recipe, are those just something you add generally to your batches?
The printout is correct. I play with these diets obsessively! Sometimes I might mis-speak due to remembering a slightly different number. Thank you for pointing out the error so I can make a note of it in the description:-)
I have got really bad ears on two different dogs and I'm taking them off of commercial dog food and I have been giving them probiotics and it's not helping I don't think. But I need to cook them a diet that will be good for them
This one would be a really good start. I’m gonna make a video about how to handle food, allergies and how to figure out what works and what doesn’t. The main thing is you have to definitely eliminate chicken and look at all the treats to make aure they don’t have chicken and stick to it for at least three months to see a difference.
