8:53 why not spaghetti? It’s a noodle and it would be kind of weird to point out that essentially he’s using lab equipment to fix spaghetti. Just as it’s equally weird for him to use it to make Ramen. They were already changing lip, flaps to fit “Americanized food“ but why not switch it to food that actually makes sense to be confused with other stuff?

3 episodes? THREE EPISODES!?! WB, WHAT THE HELL? I know THE WB is ‘The Superman Network’ but you could have taken the chance and run the whole 13 episode run!!! You guys really dropped the ball!! I already watched 3 episodes of the show, and I think this show is awesome!! It really opens kids eyes to not only life in the old west but teaches them things, too!! Like, in episode one, Jane teaches the cavalry commander to think about the situation before doing something he’ll regret! Again great choice for a show to review!!

Rewatched “Charmander the Stray Pokemon” recently after watching some later Kanto episodes and it’s always so jarring to hear Team Rocket’s voices before they started really sounding like themselves. Love Nathan Price’s voice for Meowth though, He’s probably my second favorite besides Maddie Blaustein

The Legend of Calamity Jane is far from perfect, and I don’t expect anyone to walk away from it thinking it’s the greatest thing they’ve ever seen, but this was still a solid Wild West cartoon, with a gorgeous art style, and so much potential for more great stories. I wish the show was given a chance to keep going, I think with some more character work, and making more use of the setting, this could have been an absolutely great show. I honestly hope someday we can get another show like this, in the old west, with a badass female protagonist. It’d be great to see. But hey, we can at least take a moment to appreciate the 13 episodes we got with this one. These reviews have been a lot of fun, Suede. Hopefully the information I provided helped in some way. I can’t wait to see the full series review.

With this episode, you could tell, even those the flashbacks were blurry, you could tell they were reusing a lot of old footage for it. It’s also a little weird having the final bad guy for the series just be… some guy. He doesn’t even get a name. I will give this episode some credit in that they were unafraid to show Jane getting the absolute crap beaten out of her. I know there are probably some people that would be afraid to portray that level of violence towards a woman, but I think this episode does a good job showing just how strong she is to get back up anyway and put a stop to the bad guys. Also worth mentioning that we see Wild Bill actually just straight up shoot two people! But we do see that they’re still alive. This is probably due to the standards thing I mentioned a few episodes back, where you can say someone’s bleeding as long as there’s no actual blood shown. Probably the same logic with saying you can show someone getting shot, so long as you show they’re not dead. It honestly felt like we were firmly establishing Bill’s character too, showing just how much Jane being hurt affects him. Considering there may have been plans for a romance between the two characters, I think this set it up subtly, and it would have been great to see a season two go into further detail on it.

Like this show the Godzilla 98 cartoon is for me something of wasted animation potential. Something that could've offered more if they'd been given a chance but sadly we'll more than likely will never get a continuation in any way.

_Neo_ confederates in the wild west? Edit: Apparently the the timeline does line up, Jane was thirteen years old when the US civil war ended and this takes place in 1876, eleven years after it ended.

I think this one is my personal favorite episode. Honestly makes me wonder why you’d cancel this show when it gives you premises like “CALAMITY JANE GOES TO THE CENTENNIAL EXPOSITION AND STOPS FORMER CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS FROM ASSASSINATING PRESIDENT GRANT IN AN EFFORT TO RESTART THE CONFEDERACY!” Like, that’s just so awesome that I’d be willing to give the team however many episodes they want if they can come up with something like that. They’ve earned enough goodwill from me! Also, it’s kind of funny how Jane gets there, the reason being that Cornelius Vanderbilt himself wants Jane to inspect one of his prototype trains being showed off there. I don’t know why he chose this random bounty hunter from South Dakota for this, but surprisingly, Jane knows enough about trains to see several weaknesses in it! The title always confused me too. Like, “I’d Rather Be In Philadelphia”? But… you’re IN Philadelphia right now. You’re at the Centennial Exposition. Just a little weird. By the way, Suede, if you’re still reading, I sent some last minute info in your DMs. Not as pressing as all the other stuff I sent you, but still interesting in my opinion.

While I think the next episode was my personal favorite, I can definitely see why this one stuck out to you. I do wish Ellie played a bigger part in the final action scene, doing more than just distracting our heroine for a second until Jane just fights her way out, no problem. But yeah, this was a solid episode. I liked the flashbacks to a younger Jane, establishing what this version of the character was like growing up. Also, yeah, the scene where she first shot somebody, that was quite intense. Especially if we’re meant to believe she’s still a teenager in that scene, judging by her appearance… yeah, the guy she shot deserved a bullet. Again, if the show were allowed to continue, I’d have liked it if they went back to this, showing how Jane processed it, and how it shaped her into the badass she became. Great review, Suede. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the next one.

Yeah, this was a nice change of pace, having Jane be without her supporting cast for an episode. It’s honestly impressive how many big name actors they got for this show. Frank Welker, Clancy Brown, Michael Horse, Tim Matheson, Robert Patrick, Miriam Flynn, Mark Rolston, Jim Cummings, Mark Hamill, seriously, it’s a who’s who of voice acting talent! Also liked them bringing back John Wesley Hardin after he was just a supporting role in episode 2. Maybe if the show were allowed to continue, we’d see other characters get more expanded too. Who knows? Also liked the villains in this one. Delightfully intense. I mean, I doubt we’ll see them again after they were both thrown down a well at the end of the episode. Yeah, I’m thinking they’re dead. Really liked the art direction for this one too. Loved getting out of the deserts of South Dakota for a little bit. Solid episode. Can’t wait to see what you think of the remaining 3.

They nearly got Jennifer Jason Leigh to play Jane, too! Especially funny when you imagine her using the voice she did in The Hateful 8 😆
@michaelanderson6394
@michaelanderson6394 3 месяца назад
@@OfficialSuede To think, they had her record all of the dialogue for this show, and then two weeks before the premiere, they decide, “she’s too young and girly sounding. We need to find someone to replace her.” Sure there’s decades between this and The Hateful Eight, but still, it makes you wonder how Jennifer’s voice acting sounded to make them want to swap it out for Barbara Scaff’s at the last minute.

I actually cought this one on a compilation of old cartoons amd Cartoon Network ads. I felt for a bottle episode it was quite alright. But that might be the unique feel of the show carrying a thin plot. I'm reminded of something Noah Gervais said about westerns, where they often give writers an excuse to drag the pace and get indulgent. It seems this show is no stranger to the concept.
