I have always wanted to be a pro sportsman but was never good enough at anything particular. I started playing darts a for around a month a few years ago and I enjoyed it but had to give it up soon after starting due to work commitments and starting a family.
I was reading some sports science books and a couple suggested that if you practice 10,000 if something you would become an expert.
After further reading I discovered this rule was not really a rule but had never been disproved in a scientific way; In 2020 I picked up my darts again and so I created the 10,000 hours experiment. Which is a personal study from me starting as a poor standard pub player to try and become a true darts expert ranked top 10 in the world in 10,000 hours.
I started with a 40/45 3 dart average in Jan 2020 and have been documenting my journey so far on Instagram but decided to set up a RU-vid channel to show my journey too!
Honestly, if I'd have bumped into you in a boozer and you told me you'd gone from a 40avg to a 80 in a year, I'd honestly think you're taking me for a mug. But the way you've broken down how you did it in phases and talked us through it, I genuinely believe ya. Because of work and other commitments I can only really practice for an hour during the week, but try and get at least 2 hours in over the weekend. I've been playing for 2 1/2 years now and have gone from a 35avg to 55. Not a massive leap, but I'll be using your steps from now on. Hope you get the success you're after and you reach the levels that you've worked towards. All the best, fella. Top man 👍
Would be good to see the difference between how you personally warm up for a match and how you practice I.e what practice game u play and what u do before u start an actual game
Still a very good average 67 in context I’m a 50-60 average player my best average over a first to 6 match is 73 and that was a one off that’s with 10 months of playing Interesting stuff what you said about it taking probably 18months 2 years to bed the skill in gonna bare that in mind next time im playing like shite lol
Great to see you back Ronnie. Can't wait to see how you progress from now on. 3 months is a long time to not play, but to see you still average a 67 against a bot is good to see. Not too much work is needed by the looks of things. Keep up the good work mate 👍🏼🎯
Haven’t thrown a lot myself recently. Just got the stand back out with the Grand Prix being on. So back on the grind. I just need to stick with 1 set of darts and a set up instead of thinking I am Peter wright. Glad to see you back.
Great to see you back, indeed. I wish you all the best and am rooting for you to reach your goals! Many blessings on the coming year, you're envisioning 🙏
I don't play much all summer either. The weather is too nice to be stuck indoors throwing darts. My throw suffers once I get back at it till that muscle memory returns. Good luck on your game mate!!
The angle of the dart being to similar to the next , if you throw a dart without it being more upright or sitting flat you will get more deflections and Robin hoods pick one or the other in my view
just stumbled on this video and seems like this is my issue, i just shorter stems but find it super inconsitant some go in a strange angles some perfectly flat. going to try some longer stems when i get home :)
Great video. I used to be very good at darts in university. Played in the team. Hadn’t played darts for 30+ years and recently started playing again. I’ve started getting better but form is not anywhere close to where I was. I used to be very consistent at throwing straight. Hardly ever got 26. Trying to replicate it now
I have been playing for two years now and I am stuck 58-65 average while I want minimum 75. So I am looking for videos to help me get better, I have also noticed my darts go to 5 section a lot because my darts pointing it when I hold them. I am working on the hold and throw. however, the key part of this video is when you say "practise it intensely and focusimg" During the last week, I got up on the board and threw to hit 180s without paying too much attention, but then I got bored and decided to focus while throwing.. not only the scoring instantly changed, I hit 180 easily as well. my average still sucks, but I know it will get better eventually.
Haha I’m new to darts so I knew this would be doubtful , played round the board doubles did it pretty quick got a couple doubles first try, tried 3 in bull/outer bull for 1.5 hours best I could get was 2 and the third bouncing out😂
I’ve only been playing 3 months usually do doubles 15-20 getting 2 in a double then do triples 7-20 getting 2 in then just throw at the 20 I’m gonna do these
Wow I love the advice ty so much n makes perfect sense keep up bro I'm going to try this starting tmw but one question how long are ur practice sessions??
1hr- 4hr generally try to do 10 hours per week if I can currently on a break unfortunately until September due to work ing 120 hours a week and an injury 🙏
Hi there Just watched your video and I'm about a 60 average but never seems to get better as I practice every chance I get but when it's time to play a match I fall to pieces
Unless you’re practicing more than 5 hours per week with back to back days of play then you’re just maintaining your level . I would advise playing as much singles play and tournaments like opens and even online , this will get you used to playing with adrenaline flowing makes a huge difference, best of luck
Everything it’s the fundamental of playing the game , not necessarily what it looks like but the mechanics , watch some pros and see the similarities then watch a low level player there are usually big differences 👍
I've just seen this channel via this vid. I searched on Google, "how many 180s is enough to take you from beginner to the next step up" In your opinion how many would you say?
@@RR10000Hours Jk jk. I throw 1h a day and my best avg is 72 in a BO3 match. Usually it goes from 50-60 so i'm satisfied ! I watch these videos to improve even more ^^
@@ferencsimoens try to practice more like two hours then two hours next day then break day if you can it will have a much bigger impact as 1 hr a day will maintain your level good luck mate
@@RR10000Hours oh rly ? I thought it would be better to play at least 30 minutes a day instead of 1 time 5 hours in a week ? I 'll try it out ! Thnx for the tip lad !
@ferencsimoens for maintaining your current level yes , if you want growth then more intense sessions and getting your muscles working overtime will make a bigger difference 👍 let us know how it goes
Man i just realized how really long is 10.000 hours......at the b3ginning i said ,yeah i will do that too.....but ufff 3 hours a day equal 1095 hors a year...so we talking about 10 years......wow if anyone can do that definitely become a profesional
