Fantastic video. I'm only weeks in and this game is as interesting as it is frustrating. You reminded that this is a journey. Never give up on what we want to do. All the best!
From Canada, and darts here is not anywhere close to the popularity as it is in Europe. I enjoy your channel and can't wait to see you on the world stage someday. You have the drive to get there and I wish you the best.
Nice to see you again Ronnie. I think you can be pretty proud of yourself getting to the level you’ve reached in nearly 3 years. I’m sure you’ve hit many brick walls in that time. I think the hardest thing is understanding your own throw and finding what is actually right, being able to understand what you’re doing wrong and what you need to do to make right. All the very best with the journey and hopefully you’ll get some more practice videos out 👍🏻🎯
Personally I’m not near the standard you’ve reached. I’m anything between 55 - 65 average. Joined a team and played a few comps, just not enough competitive darts to be honest. You need to be playing face to face darts regularly, playing against people online or against the bot doesn’t really put you under the pressure that’s needed. Look forward to seeing the journey continue 👍🏻🎯
Loving your videos. So informative and one of my worries about getting online playing with people is holding them up working out finishes, glad this is what everyone experiences. I really hope to be watching you playing pro some day.
So glad I found your video, you literally have described where I am at, I bought my board last week downloaded the Russ Bray App and started my journey at a 42 average. Can’t wait to dig into your previous and future content
Great video. Game of darts is so mentally tough. Average 80 one day and 60 the other. But like you said its all about keep pushing and not giving up its hard for sure but you only loose once you give up. So lets keep at it champ keep pushing keep moving forward. All the best brotha . 💪🏽
I have no interest in playing darts or learning darts. However, I loved your video! I liked hearing all the details on how you are going about mastering darts. Your tips can be applied to mastering almost any skill. I'm excited for what's next on your hero's journey!
Another great video best of luck to u u have the talent man ur doing a hell of a job and ur videos really are the best a good coach u could also become ur already one really great stuff not doing to bad myself hoping to hit a 60 hit 55 on my last two legs so i might follow in your footsteps one day keep the vids coming please 👍
That’s very nice of you to say mate , I really appreciate it🙌 thanks for watching and will be getting back to the content making over the coming weeks. Keep at it dude and that’s a good standard the practice is key 💪😊
Great video started myself last summer when i got a set of mvg darts in birthday gift (had a board and brass darts before but was mostly just for fun when drinking) got myself a blade 6 and the girlfriend joined in so now we play and practice daily the neighbor who gifted me the mvg darts also joins us we just started in the local club all 3 this mth its great fun and just want to get better and your videos are as said great :) thumbs up and good luck can´t wait to see you on tv :P
Another great video mate. I think these people recording 180s and things on Tik tok really need to understand that you need to do this when you hear game on and it’s a different ball game. I have been playing properly for a year and Half now and I’m an 80+ average player. I represent Tyne and Wear county and that experience on the stage has brought me on unbelievably. Comps on the floor now there is no nerves what so ever. Keep going mate you have played a big part in how I have improved with your advice. Playing against Ryan Joyce and Kevin Mcdine every week helps also the advice they provide is brilliant.
Thanks dude , Yeah if anything not caring when you hit a 180 is part of improving. But you have to be excited and enjoy whatever part of the game your in, sounds like you have some great practice partners , hope to see you at an event at some point 🙌😊
Hey man, absolutely love what you're doing, really look forward to seeing where you're at each time I see a new video and am wishing you all the success in the future for you hard work. I have a couple of questions for you if you have time. I have been doing something very similar to you for around 6 to 7 months. I've set up a board and light in my lounge and bought a few nice sets of darts, then settled on one I like and been hitting maybe 2 to 4 hours of practice a day in that time and never really missing a day, just to see how good I can get and maybe play some competitive darts down the track. My main problem at the moment is that I'm not sold on the reliability of my grip, and just recently my throw seems to have gone off where I seem to throw a few wild darts and I can't quite hit my doubles properly etc. It comes back in, then I lose it again....is this common on your way to getting a really reliable grip and throw, and did you have to mess around with grip and throw style much on your way to where you are now? Like, I keep hearing people say "just throw however is comfortable and learn to aim it"...but I'm just not sure if that's entirely true or should I be tweaking mechanics? So yeah, I just felt like I was getting fairly reliable then I hit a bit of a hurdle and now I'm really trying everything to get it back. The other main question was, as far as the speed of the throw....are you just trying to straighten your arm quickly to sort of get that snap on the dart and keep it fairly straight, while keeping a fairly supple grip and wrist? I seem to be able to get the darts into the board heavy, so they thud in fairly hard, but they don't really have that little kick on the them at the end and I wonder if it's because I'm not flicking my arm quick enough? Cheers for your time anyway, and all your effort putting up this series, really enjoyable. 💖😎
Thanks for watching and glad your enjoying the content . Just on what you have said - to be honest I had to same thoughts and feelings from 250 hours to around 600 hours then I realised all the changing and grip doubt wasn’t helping. Go off of the numbers not your thought measure you different styles of throwing or grip and do matches against a lower level comp first to 4 and take the average of all three games- then see which one is best and stick with it. It will take a good amount of time for your throw to develop properly and you have to put the work in and be patient. Playing in tournaments and local matches in person against others will change everything so be prepared for this and go when your confidence is good in your throw. All the best 🙌
@@RR10000Hours I live very remotely (regional Tasmania) so tournaments are a pipe dream at the moment, unless it's online. But maybe down the track somewhere, when I'm starting to be happy I can go close to hitting what I want with some degree of consistency I might think about travelling. That's given me some food for thought and good info anyway, and I think I may just stick with my grip in that case and really try to just keep it absolutely the same without re-tweaking it all the time. One thing I have noticed is that if it goes "off" or whatever, I start hanging on to the darts or releasing badly, I seem to be able to hone it back in somewhat by making sure that I feel my fingers really extend out toward the target. I'm not sure if that's a thing, but it certainly seems to help. Cheers for the reply😉😉
I do hope you go to Q school next year. Looking at some of the scores in the first stage this year I think you could've had a chance getting through. But I understand why you didn't, if you don't feel ready, you're not going to play well. I'm hoping to be ready in 3 years to go to Q school as my average is slowly going up and now I'm playing twice a week I should improve enough to hopefully play in my local super league next year. Keep up the hard work mate, it'll pay off 👍🏼🎯
I feel confident I would have got through the first stage but for me not good enough to do well in the second stage or on the pro tour. I will definitely be going next year as will do challenge tour and hopefully get some traction, I need to be going to Q School knowing I can beat pros not hoping to get a good draw 😊
Hi i am curious , when throwing do you stand with you leading leg "locked" or is your knee slightly bent and have you noticed which way other players stand?
Locked as the hours I do my leg muscle would become two inconsistent, I try to be relaxed with my stance more weight on my front foot. Back leg Just to stabilise the throw
Enjoy your videos mate, just started out and was putting in the hours. Seem to have injured my elbow in the process which has put me back a little. Was your injury darts related when starting out?
It’s part of it mate when trying to do it fast , worst ones I have are neck strains can’t move my neck etc or spasms so can’t practice had about 7 in total so that’s my weakness , stretching helps. Your body takes time to adjust but if you have a weakness you got to find what works for you best with training 💪👏
Hey mate! Yeah it’s crazy, I had my first online game last night, and realised I haven’t a clue on checkout routes!! When playing an app, it tells you or I grab my little card! But because someone was waiting on me, it made me flap!! That will be even worse at an actual event.
Very true mate you will get more comfortable the more you do it learn a route to get out on each number is a big step helps a lot , even if it’s not the ‘right way’ until you improve. All the best 🙌
around your point at 11:00 not drinking vs drinking and whats used too... i started playing again last summer when i got a set of mvg darts and bought a blade 6 (before that had a nodor something and some brass darts for drunk entertainment) since then ive been playing more or less drunk but lately i start early in morning with practice and so far have +10 180´s this yr none of them drunk :) bassicly i feel i trow better drunk but stats dosnt agreee :)
Yeah you have to measure that but for a lot of people they are less nervous when playing matches in person if they drink. Practice in most people should be better without drinking 😊 keep up with the practice 🙌
You should call out a game of cricket with Matthew edga be good to watch. I hope you get sponsored so you can get the hours in with out juggling jobs great content pal
Greetings from Kentucky in the US. Been watching your earlier videos for 2 weeks now working my way through them and I must say you have really good information. I have been throwing for 20 years in leagues and I am a decent darter but inconsistent. Since watching you I have started seeing a little more consistency in my game. I have a question though. Do you count league throwing time into the 10,000 hours? Going to my first ever tournament in a few weeks and I'm really looking forward to it. Keep up the great info, and good luck with your game.
Glad it helps in some way and wish you all the best with it 💪 I count practice hours and playing hours so yes any league or match play for me. More practice and play back to back or days in a row helps for me
Yes quite regularly but and always ongoing in my mind but the longer I go when I play usually go back to autopilot and it works. But the tweaking and slight changes can help improve if they are small and practiced 👍
Plenty of coaching out there but I learned and studied every aspect of the games myself and took successful development principles from other sports also
I like these videos because your real. 85 average and still on the edge of being able to turn over, every other youtube darts player is a "70 average after 2 weeks of playing" or some other bullshit and 3 months from debuting at the pro level lol - even 1 of them would struggle to compete with the top top pub players.
Thanks mate would love to have a RU-vid tournament 😅 I think Edgar would win , but as I say to anyone 90 one day 70 the next for me 90 plus more majority of the time will be a big step. Averages don’t count for anything, I beat a now pro player who played world champs this year when I was averaging 70
Im the best in my leagues and bars, and all of a sudden it seems like I forgot how to throw and I am in a mounth long slump...Ive been on the practice board at home for dozens of hours, I show up with my old great darts for 10 minutes then Im lost and pull everything to the right and miss my marks by 2 frames....Ive been playing for 30 years and never hit a wall like this...after winning my singles league championship, and sharpshooter championship in november IM STINKING UP THE JOINT,,,I have good darts for a few then Dartitus sets in again....Please help me, I need to be back to normal...Ive thrown so many hours of practice that my arm actually keeps getting sore....PLEASE HELP ME, I NEED TO BE # 1 AGAIN...PLEASE HELP....THANKS, ...Scott.
I am going to do a specialist dartitis video at some point but I do feel your pain. Darts is such a mental game and my best advice would be change your expectations when you go to through pressure and self pressure will do lots of things to your mind and body. If you can play with freedom to be in the moment and enjoy the darts it can help. Also don’t beat yourself up when you miss a double hit a 26 or pause on your throw, the best players in the world still do these under serious pressure.
@@RR10000Hours ....I believe you are correct about playing with freedom, thats been the way Ive done it for years on end, and only lately worrying about where every dart is landing instead of just letting them rip,is destroying my confidence and shot, there are times where it seemed like I could jump up and down on one foot and close one eye and take out a 140+ with ease, and now for some reason Im overanalyzing everything and not just playing foot loose and fancy free, and let that dartitus thought creep in, Thank you for getting back to me, I will try to get back to just playing free like you say..I'll keep you updated....Best of luck on your journey my friend ,I look so forward to seeing you on that big stage one day soon....I will be eagerly waiting on your dartitus video, ...Take care, hope to talk again soon....Scott
