I give one boiled egg and a packet of Knox Unflavored Gelatin daily for their ears to firm up. I also give a couple of sardines to all my dogs once a week. GSM
@@germanshepherdmanofficialc7598 I will start next shopping, my friend I love your dogs and videos So much help and thanks for responding so quickly I’ll need to freeze the leftovers and use them
Shedding Season only lasts 12 months with a GSD! But yep - 2 to 3 times a year you can stuff a pillow or two per day with shedded hair. But their loyalty, beauty, and companionship outweighs the shedding. German Shepherd Man’s videos are great and prepared me for my 1st GSD. Thanks GS Man - great videos.
Will this type of socialism not create an overwhelming excitement towards strange people and strange dogs? So everytime your out in public that dog with try and self satisfy with the environment/ people and dogs? I would think exposure to the environment with short bursts of interactions with people or just being around people would be a better experience for the dog. Obviously you have to read the dog you have and base it off that. I have a young German shepherd who i did exactly what you mentioned in this video. This dog went everywhere with me, met everyone, and was pet by everyone, met other dogs etc. Now she has such a strong desire to meet everyone we see, every dog and this I find super unproductive. It’s so bad that she’ll lunge at people just wanting to be pet, and if they pet her she’ll pee everywhere because she’s so excited… Thanks!
Obedience is a HUGE part of the package...get them great in the home, then great in the yard, then great in town. Meeting people under control is the key. GSM
@@germanshepherdmanofficialc7598I agree… but to create that obedience in public it would require the pup to have most if not all the attention on the handler.
I have a 3yr old female she’s like Star and very social. Doesn’t know a stranger actually. Because she’s so friendly do you think she would protect me if she sensed danger? Also, she doesn’t bark when someone comes to the door or the doorbell rings. Is this normal? She barks when she’s playing and if she hears something in the back yard so she has a voice 😊 I’d like her to alert us when someone is at the door or in the front yard.
She will. I have friends come late night in front of my house I leash him And open my door Walk him out he does go off but he’s so nice you have to have a decoy lol. Where do u live?
They don’t bark at the door cuz they’re controlled trained and smart my GSD only barks if it’s danger or night time you do NOT want them barking at every knock trust me that’s the point of socializing they’re way smarter than you think. And if they’re barking at every thing and everyone in front of the house they’re anxious.
Can I feed my 15 week old puppy boiled eggs 2 times a week ? His ears are not standing fully, sometimes ones up and down but he’s also a huge puppy with huge feet and ears like Bigfoot cross Dumbo
My female GSD had her first heat at 9 months old in December, then a second heat in May, and now her 3rd in September. Any reason why she's having 3 heats in less than 10/11 months period.
I’m so glad y’all posted a video. I have been praying for yall after the hurricane. Yes the puppy training video is great. We got the one for older dogs. We got two rescue dogs. One was a year old and he did very well with it. The other one was two years old and had mental trauma done to him so it’s taking longer but keep working at it. Like you have said always trainings.
@@krisd870 My daughter has a rescue shepherd and we’re experiencing the same issue. It is taking longer but we’re seeing progress and it is worth it. She passed the canine good citizen test.
Your early puppy training system will make your puppy a life changer for great positive things, not negative things. The system worked for Gretchen. I’m still using it for her. Everyone she meets falls in love with her.
Very true. I wasn’t fully aware of this when I got my puppy and now she doesn’t like people or other dogs. They become extremely difficult when this happens and for me the training got a bit harder when she grew past that timeframe. It didn’t help either that I got her in winter and when we did go for walks there were very little people around. I do enjoy this breed though and when I get another I would do it just like your video.
The key to my training system is to correct properly within a second and use BIG LOVE to reward within a second. Email me at charles@germanshepherdman.com
I intentionally bought my last GSD that came from Germany, because I knew she was anti-social by her behavior which was the total opposite of the pack (11 pups). I was not in the market for a female but there I was, picking her. Sie war der großartigste Deutsche Schäferhund, den ich mir jemals wünschen konnte, und ich vermisse sie bis heute.
When he says you can call him and he will call you back, he really will!!!! That doesn't always happen with people on the internet. I would highly recommend him. He has helped me a few times with my black German shepherd.
I put a large towel down near the crate area and have a HEAVY pot for the water. That way they get water as they come and go. We need to make sure they have access to the water soon after feeding kibble...it makes them thirsty about 20-30 minutes after eating. My dog eats a few leaves off my fig tree and he’s always been fine, no vomiting or diarrhea. He’s 14 years old and he’s been doing it for a few years now. I’m also in Tallahassee as well and I too love fruit trees.
It's not so much the leaves but the white sap that is toxic. I had to protect any puppies that could be in the area since they bite and chew EVERYTHING...GSM
I have tried doing this and I will continue But My German shepherd puppy growls and snarls at me like a wild animal when I do this Do you have any suggestions for me ? Or Do I just continue doing this until he understands It’s not as bad as he was, it’s mostly when his overtired
Their Mom is using her mouth/teeth to get them to settle. She bites them just enough to get their attention and STOP moving. When they totally settle, she lets them up. That is what I've observed in nature that seems to work. Maybe you need to be more like their MOM...more serious.
