@@MrBigsock what was that moment like on campus the day y’all found out what happened to the financial fund and that you guys were no longer able to attend Morris Brown. Please respond cuz this was my dream school it hurts that I might not ever get a chance to experience Marching Wolverines at the level you guys had to.
@@ixel_4x it was really tough! Everyone was confused and crushed. We actually found out in December of 2002, before DRUMLINE premiered! The school appealed and we thought we had a chance to regain it. But the appeal was denied in early 2003, and 90% of the students left at the end of the spring semester. Those two years were AWESOME!!!
@@MrBigsock thank you so much for responding. I love hearing stories and personal experiences during the peak years at Morris Brown and after doing a lot of research I see why the appeal was denied with the amount of millions the school owed and etc. This will forever be one if the biggest HBCU heartbreaking moments in Black College history imo. So if you know any info, what did the school with the band uniforms and windbreaker suits you guys had the cleanest windbreaker suits ever that Purple and Black was untouchable.
My mentor Jahleel Eli composed this! He was the head of the percussion department at Morris Brown (1999-2001) As seen here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T3EXbfjO8j0.html. I've personally seen the original hand-written sheet music of this piece he composed. This excerpt which made it in the film "Drumline" is actually only a small part of the full composition.
Damn, I'm born and raised in Atlanta. Breaks my heart that Morris Brown's Marching Band is a thing of the past. Lawd please make it make sense cause I just can't! 😢😢
dude you realize this video was recorded in 2000 or 2001 right and plus DCI drumlines are totally different from Showstyle HBCU style drumlines. your folks have what's entertaining to y'all this kind of drumline is what's entertaining for us folks. this school no longer have a band program cuz they lost accreditation back in 2002. just be appreciative
