If every band played songs similar to the actual songs, then there wouldn't be diversity. That's why different arrangements make the HBCU world so great. For example, listen to all the "Neck" arrangements.
I agree every band should play it different and it does not have to be like the real song. It's cool too add stuff as long as it enhances the song and doesn't sound bad. You might listen to a song and think " this song would be nice with a................"

See if you listen to the real song, by cameo you'll find that TSU version plays it more in line with the actual music. AAMU although good, is out of key and adding unecessary notes. Who ever wrote TSU version wrote while listening to the actual song. Try it Listen to the song then AAMU version. See the difference. Now try TSU.
