Welcome to Andy’s Tandys! This channel features videos on vintage computing, MS-DOS Gaming, music production, sound design, photography, digital art, and tutorials on shooting and editing video. I’ve been obsessed with art, computers, video games and video production since I was a kid, and have been working in the new media space for the last 25 years. Here, I share my expertise and passions and explore how old and new technology can be used together in interesting ways.
It sucks as I went to the Roland store in Tokyo and the face plate was $25 AUD off the shelf, which is $23 Canadian. They should do this with all the stores that sell sp404's
@@erikarabie Yes, if you plug your microphones into channels 1 and 2, and then hold the 1 and 2 buttons down, it will merge them into one stereo track, with the two mics panned L and R.
I think there may be more things to steal in town. I think the Sheriff's house may have more stuff but it has been over thirty years since I have played this game.
Excellent idea, flawlessly presented. I have used this idea in combination with the MPC one and Boss rc 505 mk2. With all the various options you can get lost for hours trying endless jam ideas. Thank you,
I think the bugs might have been cockroaches. See 14:48. There is a body near your left hand that hasn't decayed completely. Roaches are the most common bug found in household/office environment. They are also obsessed to heat sources that are not in the open. A computer like this is the perfect definition of a hive. I hope it helps answering you and fellow viewers' question about the bug.
The shotgun mic is a Sennheiser MKE 600, or equivalent. I think the one I have may be an older model. It's a good mic, but it isn't exactly cheap. You may be able to find a cheaper shotgun mic that works as well. The boom stand I have is a Cameron LS-65B Boom Stand. Again, if you can't find that specific one, you can probably get something very similar. Other than that, you'll need an XLR cable.
@@andystandys Awesome, thank you andy -- whats the length of your XLR cable? Also was the H6 recording separate audio from the camera or you synced through a cable?
@@GeorgeJefff I think I normally use a 25 ft. cable. I have a few different lengths. I sync the cameras to the H6 by running a 3.5 mm cable out of the Line Out jack of the Zoom and into the mic jacks on the cameras.
@andystandys going to do my best to record some music. I figure I'll have to send them to someone else for mastering but I'll do my best on my end. You're a wealth of knowledge sir. Thank you
@@andystandys Thank you for the confirmation, was recording song from youtube with h6 line out , but when the ads coming in, the sound is unbearably loud
My x/y capsule is no longer working, and when I use it hooked up to my computer as an audio interface, it has a horrific noise floor. It is almost 5yrs old now, so something may have happened....
This is a well-explained video and very well done, thank you!. 9:36 How do you set this up? I'm using Teams and would like to be able to talk to the online talent without audio coming out of the in-room speakers.
Thanks for your comment. I've never tried doing that, and I'm not sure if it can be done on this mixer. There is only one stream of audio going from the mixer into the computer through to the Teams participant, which is the main mix that includes all audio channels. You can't send two streams of audio, one that's the main mix and one that is just one specific channel for the talent to hear.
With these videos that I'm producing, I'm editing everything in post, so the stuff I don't want, like me speaking to the talent, just gets edited out. If you're doing a live broadcast that is being recorded, you may not be able to talk to the talent without everyone else hearing it...
I tried to follow this tutorial but only got as far as the handclaps. The handclaps are always out of sync wth the hihats. Is there something I'm missing??? I set the length to 48 step, set the settings to 1/16T as well as pressed the 'Step 16' when setting the length, as I watched you do. No matter what, when I press play... the hihats and claps are out of sync. Are you doing something else, that you are not showing?
I'm showing all the steps to make this work in my video. The RD-8 does poly rhythm, where you can set different bar lengths for different instruments so that they go out of sync with each other. (I've never really played around with that feature.) I wonder if you've accidentally set a different bar length for the claps or something.
@@andystandys it sounds like I may be accidentally setting a different bar length, however I'm copying exactly what you are doing onscreen. I've only had the RD-8 a few days, I've been trying to find tutorials that thoroughly explains how this machine works. I thought Behringer would have their own tutorials but I can’t find any from them. So I'm looking for anyone now. Do you know of any channels that have good tutorials on the RD-8 MK2?
@andystandys ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d8ACMsVUvdE.html please go to minute: 18:19 and hear the "right" playback of this Song in DOOM with a SC-88.Compaire it with your playback and you find out that your playback its terrible to hear and its absolute wrong! Your Soundcard gives at this moment wrong notes to the Yamaha MU 80 and SC-88 !Believe me Andy!
@@andystandys Its only by this Song, all the other Songs here are correctly. It can happen that the sound card sends wrong notes to the modules and then crooked tones result.

Passt auch nicht. Sogar mein SC 8820 im SC 88 oder SC 88 Pro Modus bringt nicht so schräge Töne rüber. Vermutlich hätte es einen Reset und eine Neuinitialisierung vor jedem Playback gebraucht.
@@andystandys I don't know if you got what I wrote as I wrote in german: Something is way off on the distorted guitars in this Video regarding the 88 VL and the MU80. I guess it would have been good to reset the Devices and play them all seperated (no MIDI Through or s.th. like that). I just listened to the DOOM MIDI Files on my SC8820 and its SC 88 and SC 88 Pro Modes. It doesn't do that. I only know such strange things if I switch the Modes after the initialization while the music plays. But even then it is not often a problem.
I'm trying to learn how to best use mine for home music recording to whatever DAW I am using or also for outboard kinda recording. By that I mean, shooting with whatever camera but capturing audio on the H6. Can I buy an affordable vid cam that I can mount the H6 to the top "boot" as it were? Yes, I'm rookie at this and have a lot of stupid questions! Lol. Your video is very informative and thank you for taking the time to make it. I know it isn't easy!
Sure thing. Look up "SmallRig 1/4" Mini Ball Head Cold Shoe Mount Adapter" on Amazon. You just need something like that, and you can mount the H6 directly onto the top of most cameras that have a hot shoe mount.
It was 1994, and I remember seeing Robin Finck of Nine Inch Nails smash the hell out of a keyboard with his beautiful Gibson in Toronto. Looked badass as f*ck. I finally got to smash a keyboard (with a telecaster) 2 years ago. And yup, it was satisfying as hell. Hope you had fun bro.
Great memories! I would have loved to have seen that. Yeah, I had a lot of fun with this. I shot this outside of my condo, so the trickiest part was just finding a spot where I could shoot it without people wondering what the hell I was doing...
Thank you a very useful video indeed. I am new to this kind of audio. I have a DJI Mic2 and Rhode shotgun mic. What cables do I need to connect them to the Zoom please. Both microphnes have use a 3.5mm jack - rather than the XLR. I can't find this information anywhere. Please forgive my ignorance
Thanks for your question . The X/Y Microphone capsule on the top of the ZOOM also has a 3.5mm input jack on the side of it, so if you're looking to input only one of those mics at a time, you could plug it in there. If you want to use the XLR inputs on the side of the ZOOM, you would need to buy an adapter. Search for the "Rode VXLR Mini-Jack Female to XLR Male Adapter for VideoMic" on Amazon. I have two of those and they work fine.
@@andystandys Thank you very much for that information, it is exactly wehat I needed from someone who knows what they are talking about. It is odd how a simple piece of information can be so hard to find. I realise that it should be a no brainer, just get an adaptor .- unless one does not know how it all works - and that one would be me. Thanks again, great channel :-)
