I’ve never played nor never really had much interest in Marvel United. I have everything for Marvel Champions and prefer the depth of card construction, no need for another Marvel game. However, the gameplay seems so simple and has had nothing but great reviews, I would be interested in atleast trying it. DC United has kind of peaked my interest, not that I have a preference of DC over Marvel or anything, but if I wanted to play Marvel I have Marvel Champions and if I wanted to play DC, I could have United. I’m still on the fence to back or not, but looking at videos like this one today to better understand what this campaign provides in comparison to the previous Marvel campaign and if this is a good place to start with United.
Thanks for the preview. I am 100% backing. ALL IN. You did a great job covering the mechanics. The enemy damage rollers also do a great job of keeping the live timer action flowing without spending too much time with damage tokens. I am a fan of the iP, and a fan of Go On Board's execution for Witcher The Old World (WtoW) Board Game. They did a great job with the narrative, deckbuilding, character building, and player interactions and sharing in the gameplay. WtoW is a boss battling/hunting/deckbuilding choose you own adventure with amazing additional expansions. It appears that Go On Board have given as much attention to detail here too. They are definitely fans of Cyberpunk and CD Projekt Red. I would be very interested in seeing a gameplay video from you on this one.
Dude! You seem PUMPED for this game! So much enthusiasm in this video...even some sound effects (Flash)! I, too, am looking forward to this one. The Suicide Squad expansion looks like it's building on the success of the Sinister Six expansion. So far, that looks like the only expansion that is a "must buy".
Great video! Looking forward for the guide picks. In Brazil its gonna be really expensive to get the game in the CF. Althought we can wait for retails, just like Marvel United, lots of extra stuff will be unavailable.
As a backer of the first Marvel United, I’ve always passed on new United campaigns. While I enjoy the system, it’s hard to justify the price for a little, as you said, extra flavor.
Game looks awesome. I agree with your assessment for the $99 pledge. That's a crazy expensive neoprene mat that they're offering, though! Normally neoprene game boards draw me to a game. This one is pushing me away!
Not sure if you've seen, but the giant playmat being offered in the Luthier campaign isn't just to replace the central board, it's for your whole table (35.4 x 60 inches). Plus it is double sided so can be used when playing Luthier, or use the reverse wood effect side for any other game in your collection. A single sided playmat of this size will set you back a very similar amount, so $75 for a double sided one with free shipping is actually a really good price. There is another campaign live right now offering a 36x60 inch single sided playmat for $79 plus shipping! That said, if you have no use for the playmat then there are other cheaper pledge levels that don't include it. 🙂
Thanks for the coverage, I was surprised this was up when I visited the campaign page and the launch is in 48 days. I will most likely back this, love the IP and am a fan of the old world board game they did. I think they will lose some potential backers because of the timer aspect.
Very nice coverage. This is the only upcoming game left that I'm considering backing this year (of course that could change with more announcements). I find the card play interesting. I find the app and timer concerning. I'm just not sure that it fits my play style. I'll be following this one closely. Go on board has already stated that the app isn't required, but we'll see how that impacts gameplay. I also appreciate that this is scenario based, instead of campaign. That makes things much easier for me.
Thanks, Bryan, for a very substantive video! We can't spoil much, but we're pretty sure that our game will meet your ideas and expectations :D We've got plenty of diverse missions that will scale up the challenge and bring even more Cyberpunk themes into it. Enjoy your stay in Night City!
I missed the campaign for the collectors edition. If I buy straight from the creators, I'd basically spend $80 on just the miniatures. The miniatures are neat, but I'd only use them to "decorate" the game area. The wooden pawns seem like they would work better gameplay wise. The playmat is neat, but it would take up too much space, both on the table and in storage. If they found a way to include discard pile spaces on it, it might be worth it. But the lack of discard spaces on the mat means it will take up even more of the table. The game is already bulky as is. I am tempted to buy the book of adventures though. But i need to be realistic. Do i play the game often enough to need it? Not at all. The base scenarios are enough. As you said, it's a luxury item. I'm typically fine with luxury items, but they need tk be somewhat practical. If I could see myself using the miniatures during gameplay, maybe I'd double dip on the game. But with it just being added miniatures, none of the KS exclusives, and not even the boon or mat? Hard pass.
@@outofit08 I like the skill up and combinations you can get in CoD. MD2 is better at lower player counts, I think 3 is good. It doesn't scale well with more players.
Luthier intrigues me. I'm excited to see you coverage of that one. I was initially confused by the boxes piling up on your table, thinking that those were "keep or sell" games. I guess that works, though, because i ended up watching the entire video twice. I'd like to see more thoughts about the games that you're getting rid of...like a hot-take on why a game is not right for your collection. I find that sort of thing very informative. Great video (both times)!
Yeah the title might be confusing. It's part of the aeries "keep or sell" but was definitely just an update. Ive been trying to keep things related to the collection be a part of the series.
The man with 10000 games, but still supports his LGS. Much respsect, ARCS looks pretty fun too! Hopefully the campaign version has more play-overability than you think? Let us know if its fun!
@@GameBrigade Ahh I see. They must have backed the kickstarter. If it helps, the campaign box at retail will be the same when it releases in a couple of months. Just might cost a bit more than Leder's kickstarter price.
It took me also a bit to figure out HexploreIt Adrimon, tit was nice that they added the new version of the cards with drawings etc but it took some time to sort out.
A few more games and you have the same size of my collection. For me its important to only keep games i love. All games are cool and look cool so youll get buried by just holding onto good games
Bryan, I heard from many that you want to play ARCS base game several times before even considering diving into the campaign. Due to many other games, I wouldn't recommend going anymore into ARCS yet.
Man, Bryan, I'm with you on ATO. So much so that I actually sold it a few weeks ago before I even got to test it. It's been waiting since January 2023, so I thought that's stupid and given the difficulty and the theme, I would have a hard time finding people to play. So if I hadn't found time to solo it till now no reason I would any time soon. I'm waiting on my refund for Cycle 4&5 and other stuff now 😅
Honestly way to many. Definitely over thought how many of these I would play. It probably was a little overzealous on backing the dungeon expansion 😂. I just wanted to have a complete game which isn't the best mind set
Great video. Buyers regret is huge and is definitely being driven hard by Kickstarter style products. On one thing you said specifically - So I don't think the idea that people who got in at the start and have "had years to play it" is a good mentality. There is no reason that you need to buy anything else for Aeons ends. You have years of entertainment so... Play it.
Those were some very good call outs for some risks in enjoyment. I know that the team is addressing some of those concerns, there's a first player action so you can have some control over that, they've already done some work on accessibility for colors (the KS page has a section on it). Great, honest review, thanks for the info!
