Thank you! My 5 year old daughter had a crown fall off earlier this evening, Saturday. It was so traumatizing for her. Her tooth is super sensitive and has to drink from a baby bottle, or she says it hurts when the water touches it😭 We live 2.5 hours from a pediatric dentist. We moved recently from a big city to a very small town near the Canadian border. I pray she'll let me do this tomorrow until I can get her in. 95% of her teeth are capped. I was religious with brushing jer teeth, but unfortunately, she got my genetics as far as teeth go, and she needed crowns at only 2 years old 😢 My heart hurts so bad for her right now. She's not handling it very well.
It happened to me today and I returned it back and press it with my hand now it’s ok for half day , I’am surprised that I can take food no issue but iam scared that it’ll fail again 😂😂😂 and shock me
My dentist told me not to use toothpaste to clean my nightguard. He said it would ruin the nightguard. He said only use soap, which I don't like because my nightguard taste like soap.
I read several articles stating that you weren't suppose to use toothpaste (too abrasive), soap's better and that alcohol is bad since it damages the guard.
I’m so glad I saw this! Just got my NTI guard yesterday (night two and I strangely love the thing lol). I asked the dentist how to clean it, and the hygienist was the one to respond “antibacterial soap and water.” I had first asked if Efferdent was okay because that’s what I used waaaay back in the day on my expander and retainer lol oddly, they said liquid hand soap and water was good enough? Crazy. I understand the alcohol deteriorating it part. But it’s crazy to think that toothpaste is abrasive too! So what are we supposed to brush with 😱😱😱
yeah mine lasted for a month or so. Sometimes 2 months but it's very random. Sometimes less. It's the way you mould the cheap mouth guard. Sometimes I bite too hard, if you bite too hard, it won't last long lol. It's always different when you try and shape it hahaha I think they both have there pro's and con's. The custom made one is expensive. The cheap one is cheap and you can buy in bulk. Custom made just feels better and last longer. I have a custom made one a week ago and I'm loving it. Time will tell which one is better.
1:55 and how do night guards made by a dentists treat bruxism? From what I hear they only relieve the symptom and not the cause so they are still doing the same thing as over the counter kits.
They treat the symptom by limiting the damage grinding creates, not the cause itself. The cause is neurological and bio mechanics which are difficult to modify. Over the counter kits have differences in their effectiveness but the goal is the same.
I was also told to make sure the guard does not touch or cover your gums as it dames them and to cut the edges so it does not touch the gums. Yet as soon as I do that it no longer stays in my mouth and no longer fits. I keep buying these and cannot get it to stay in once I cut the top edges. But again I cannot have the top edges touch my gums so seriously how can this work?
You would need to get a custom made at a dentist office. That’s the only way it would fit perfectly and stay on. Just had mine after long consideration and lots of over the counter night guards
