Yes I can see what you mean, music is famed for travelling and being adapted by different countries it lands in, so although this was published in the 18century it may well have been heard first in the Middle East, it's the way with old tunes. Thanks for your comments 👍

@@noodlin-mandolin Hi Rob, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but I was waiting for final confirmation, so here are the arrangements for Jon's funeral, sorry if you've heard this on the grapevine already : 'Alan Ferguson has sent out details for Jon's funeral arrangements as below. As before, apologies if I'm just repeating what you may already know and please pass on to any others that you feel should be made aware. Wednesday 13th December, 2.00 pm Redditch Crematorium (the Abbey Chapel) B97 6RR Donations to one of Jon's favourite charities: Crisis UK Dress code: "wear what Jon would remember you in". If possible, please wear a hat. Of course, people should wear what they feel they should wear, so a suit and tie won't be frowned on either. As Jon leaves the chapel, there will be live music (tune to be chosen by Alan Smith and details will follow). Anyone that has an acoustic instrument can bring it along. People will remain in their seats to play and nobody should bring an instrument that needs plugging in (that last bit should go without saying, but let's say it anyway). The burial is at 3.00 pm at Westall Park Natural Burial Ground B96 6JY. Parking is limited and space around the grave will be tight. Family and close friends will attend but anyone that feels they want to be there shouldn't feel excluded. All are welcome to go to the wake at The Rose and Crown, High Street, Feckenham B96 6HS. Those that don't go to the burial can head off to the pub and get the drinks in. There will be live music, the beer will flow and so will memories of Jon.'

@@squeezersully7 The Dahlhoff Collection is a comprehensive German dance collection from the 18th century, which is owned by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz. It comprises around 800 melodies on around 1400 pages in ten volumes. Origin: Between 1767 and 1799, the Dahlhoff family collected various folk dances and cataloged them. The Dahlhoff family was a sexton's family in the parish of Dinker [in Westphalia]. The recorded dances also originate from a radius of around 500 km in this region. The collection remained unnoticed for around 200 years until it was digitized and published by the Berlin State Library in 2012. The Dahlhoff Collection contains traditional German folk dance music, which also documents the musical influence from other regions (e.g. "Bayerische", "Polnischer Tantz", "Englisch Offeria"). The collection is not a musicological documentation, but a collection of everyday use, which thus documents folk music as it is lived. [source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sammlung_Dahlhoff] Some folk musicians bring these dances to live nowadays. I recommend YT-channels like TradTanzMusik with a special playlist for Dahlhoff: ru-vid.com/group/PL8T34eFsvHmJzU9zJfW5TOXb_jLNFH8Oh Simon Wascher provides abc-notation of all dances: simonwascher.info/TradArchiv/Dahlhoff/ Would be a pleasure to have you performing one of the Dahlhoff dances!
