An English County Dance tune published by Henry Playford in the Complete Dancing Master Vol. 3, 2nd ed., c1726. Some refer to it being first published by John Walsh in 1711 although researchers think that the modern version is in his 3rd book c1728 and not 1711 when the modern dance figures were published.

Sounds very Middle Eastern ... Mind you, I think some very old English music I've heard is in this vein.

Yes I can see what you mean, music is famed for travelling and being adapted by different countries it lands in, so although this was published in the 18century it may well have been heard first in the Middle East, it's the way with old tunes. Thanks for your comments 👍
