Also, @Joseph McBrayer if you've made some updates to the setup, wouldn't hate a follow up video sometime in the future!! 😉 I took a look at your latest interviews and they are looking great. Well done!
Thanks for the encouragement-yes, the latest interview setup I’ve showcased is this simple one I set up for a 1 day shoot on multi-ethnic ministries & cross cultural appointments. Hope it’s helpful. 2 Camera Interview Setup // BMPCC 6K & 6K Pro with Contax Zeiss Lenses ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3dVjuobSI6w.html
Yes, it’s the Sigma 35mm f/1.4prime on bmpcc6k. The widest mm you can use on a super 35 sensor with the moment adapter is a 35mm. (50mm on full frame).
I’ve not tried it on the 18-35 but the moment anamorphic adapter info says that with zoom lenses it needs to be more like 50mm. It could work on the 18-35mm at 35mm? (If I can try it on the 18-35mm this week I’ll give it a shot and send a screenshot maybe)
It was still very sharp in center of frame for me. The adapter tends to add “character” around the edges of the frame in addition to the 1.33x stretch. Very pleased and it looks good for me.
@@adrianc.jacomille8497I’ve only seen the lens hoods that I know will fit on sites like KEH here: www.keh.com/pentax-35-manual-focus-28-f-3-5-takumar-rectangular-metal-clamp-on-49-229967.html?aid=242239-714117&Pentax&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_vFQtAd8Q4L_53-qivouI4OYS91&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3tCyBhDBARIsAEY0XNnWz_oWA9NawTyy5SBtp3yRPLdKubxhzPXIUveb97e2EaPxqvSOVOsaApLEEALw_wcB It’s only $18 plus tax & shipping. I’m not sure of the focus gear but I ordered one a few days ago from bh-the tilta focus gears which are $2 each.
When I attach my Helios to my R with an adapter every button on the camera stops working. Can't get into a single setting or take photos/video. This lens works perfecting on our Canon C70. Have you ever had any issues??
That’s interesting (and I’m sure frustrating!). I’ve not had that problem before. Does it happen with other screw mount lenses? On thing I thought of is, (and you may already know this) you have to go into the menu to do the “release shutter without lens” to be able to use manual lenses for photos. I’ll do a search on it but this is the first I’ve heard of it.
@@JosephMcBrayer All other weird lenses work but this one causes every button to stop working so I can't even get into the menu to change the shutter. It's a bummer because I specifically use the R as my "toy" camera and I would love to use this incredible lens on it.
@@OhanaFilms that is odd indeed. And it doesn’t do this with other screw mount lenses? It feels like there has to be some kind of contact issue or something. Are you using a m42 to ef then to ef to rf adapter? Or is it m42 to rf?
@@JosephMcBrayer Thanks for the kind words about our films. The lens is using a M42 to EF that it attaches to an EF to RF mount. It works perfectly on other Canon cameras. I'm going to try covering the sensors on the M42 to RF mount and see if that helps. I think it might because I have used some VERY lo-fi plastic lenses on that camera with no issues. I think camera sees the sensors and gets confused. I will report back.
Hey Cheryl-I have just remarked it about once every week or so while it is out there. Uses about 3 cans of paint to do it the first time and about 2 cans of paint to remark it. Hope that is helpful.
I set the focus manually for where the subjects will be located. I place an object in the location of where each person will be and set the focus there.
The trick you mention is so true! I have found Canon cameras with EF lenses cheaper than bought just the lens. I think it's because people who sell just the lens may know what they're selling, while those who sell the camera just want some money to part with it.
Hi Christine- the link is in the video description. Here it is again: www.dropbox.com/s/ybhck2sdkmvqs3y/Chartres%20DIY%20labyrinth%20jmcbrayer.png?dl=0
Good primer on the setup. I did not follow, however, how the follow focus paried up with the side handle so that you could control the follow focus. Can you explain that piece? Thanks.
Thanks David. The tilta nucleus nano control dial connects to a quick release plate that is mounted with a 1/4” screw to the side handle. That way you can have 2 of the quick release plates and move the control dial for the follow focus from the side handle to the ring handle quickly. I hope that’s helpful. Thanks again for watching and for the comment & question here.
The ronin rs2 is going to be more versatile and a smaller form factor, which could work better for you in tighter spaces or if you are orbiting a musician.
Good questions-I’m using Final Cut x and make them into a multi cam clip and then select between the audio/video inputs. In some cases I need the audio from both sources so I’ll duplicate the clip and then switch the audio section and it is synced already.
Thanks for the comment here-I’m all for dialogue and discussion-and, your tone here friend isn’t helpful for dialogue between theists and Anon-theists. Anti-theism is a fundamentalism of a different kind and if you’ll take a moment to see other things here on my channel, you’ll see I’m not an enemy of non-theists nor am I an exclusivist theist. I’m sorry for the harm caused to you by religious folks and I wish you well.
Oh no-I’m sorry to hear that. Rolling shutter is something I’ve heard of being pretty jello-y. The gyro data in daVinci can do something but I’m sorry to hear the issues. And also hdmi?! That’s no good. Hope you can get things resolved!
It is my understanding that 24mm is relative to full frame. So it is cropped by the camera sensor size (super 35 on the Bmpcc 6k) so ~1.55X for the Bmpcc 6k which is close to 37 or 38mm equivalent on full frame. Ef-s placed on a full frame would have significant vignetting and can be done (like the sigma 18-35mm on a full frame canon ef-rf mount Eos R or R6 but it does have significant vignetting and very dark corners. Hope that’s helpful.
Very good question - - from what I can tell on a few threads on Reddit, it looks like the small rig 6K pro cage should also fit the new cinema camera 6K full frame. Thanks again for watching and if you do decide to get the full frame, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
I sure miss fall in Atlanta. Thank you for your inspirational videos, and excellent editing and music. When I grow up I want to be like Joseph. In so many ways. Hi from Cynthia also
Actually the dropped the "P" in the name of the new Full Frame. 🙂 Anyway, thank you for sharing your thoughts! I love that the switched to L-Mount and I swapped my R6 for a S5 already. Having the 6K G2 only instead of the Pro though... 😀
Haha. Hard to break the BmPcc habit. I’m glad to hear your experience and going over all the way to L mount on the S5- so you miss anything from the Canon side of things? (I have some nice EF glass that I adapt for the R6 and would just get an adapter for the L mount full frame…maybe someday. Anyway, thanks for watching & commenting.
I do have some EF glass as well and I do have the SIGMA EF-L adapter, as a leftover from my fp. But to be honest Joseph @@JosephMcBrayer, I did not test the S5 too much until now, but the only thing I would miss would be the lenses anyway. As I am able to keep these, I am pretty happy. 🙂
Very very cool! 😲 For a 10-18 this doesn't look too wide at all. Awesome! I have to try this with my Tokina 11-16. Did you use ... ah, yes, the DJI RS2. Hmmm, maybe I dshould buy me a gimbal some day... 🙂 Anyway, awesome footage!
Yes, I used to have the tokina 11-16 f/2.8 when I had a canon 60D and it was a great lens for aps-c! So it should fit well on the 6K. The gimbal does make things so smooth and then a *little* gyro stabilization in DaVinci feels just right. I used the DJI Ronin-S for a long time and still use it for projects in addition to the rs2. Biggest difference on the RS2 is the tracking of subjects and pulling focus with LiDAR-both of which are great for me as I am often filming myself and a solo filmer most days. Thanks for watching this video too!
@@JosephMcBrayer wow, that's cool to know! I will definitely check the RS2. I do have a Ziuiui...something, but that is one of the things that I bought and never used. Maybe I should finally give it a try. :-D Thank you!
I think the wobble has some relation to the rolling shutter of the camera. I bet it's not as pronounced in 4k 60p, or 1080p. I notice 24p on my R6 has worse rolling shutter than 24p. It does look a lot better though after the update. I think adding more weight to the camera or using a gimbal would help a lot. The 16mm weighs nothing on lightweight camera, which helps the camera shake around as you walk and record.
Thanks for the reply here. Yes, using a gimbal certainly helps minimize movement. A big part of the appeal of this setup is the light weight factor, so adding weight while it will help stabilize the camera is a drawback of the minimalist weight setup. Thanks for the ideas and good thoughts here.
Idk if you're just dumb or what but the literal lens ou mentioned (sigma 18-35) has stops BUILT IN to it. Also this isn't "auto focus" unluss you have lidar. idk wtf you smoked before making this video
Hello, I have a Nikon Z6, and I primarily use it for shooting weddings, real estate, and hotel advertising. I'm planning to upgrade my equipment, and I'm considering getting the Blackmagic 6K full-frame cinema camera. What is your opinion?
Hey thanks for asking here-I don’t know the Nikon Z6, but I use the canon R6, which is a similar capacity photo/video full frame mirrorless. A few thoughts: 1) the new full frame blackmagic camera will be excellent for video, but he’s not used for still photography. So that’s a very different type of thing. 2) the black magic cinema camera is a full manual focus camera, which would be a big difference from the auto focus present in our Cannon/Nikon systems. So unless you’re experienced in other ways with manual, focus, that’s going to be one of the biggest things for you to consider. In wedding videography there are many things that happen only once and if it’s out of focus, then that’s bad for your client and ultimately, the bottom line. 3) Additionally, lenses for the L mount system are going to be different than your current Nikon set up. (I use a lot of EF glass adapted on canon mirrorless & is native to the Pocket 6k pro) 4) I do think the video image will be superior and look much more cinematic on the black magic camera, but it’s a very different system than Nikon, as well as editing in b raw as opposed to h.264/265 from Nikon.
There are two options: 1) m42 to ef to rf (2 adapters) M42 to EF adapter: amzn.to/374VCfO Ef to Rf: amzn.to/46Ar0M2 Or 2) m42 to rf (1 adapter) amzn.to/46wM6eh Either is a good option depending on what you prefer. Hope that’s helpful!
love it , i was curiouse to this combination, if you have the opportunity to test the tamron also vintage, would be great to see, awesome work cheerfs from france!
too bad no nd filters again !! too bad they didnt change the screen with a new one and put the IBIS ONCE FOR ALL !! Full frmae is great like L mount but i wont get it for all that anyway.. i ll wait again for more upgrades ....
If you set up color management in Resolve (Search for Cullen Kelly he pretty much wrote the book on color management in Resolve) it will give you a base grade as soon as it's on the timeline.. I use BRAW and it's so fast and flexible compared to PREZ and the color tools in DR are world class.
I used final cut for the first time today it took me like 20 minutes to get all my usual cutting and basic stuff the button layouts the same so it's really easy to adapt to DaVinci this is a DaVinci user talking by the way😅
Hey thanks for the daVinci encouragement! I do use it for basic color grading of b raw and just need to jump all the way in. Ha. Glad to hear of your experience with fcpx too. Thanks again.
