My name is Kari. I opened my shop, 8 Bit Stitch on Etsy in 2013. I originally sold finished crochet and cross-stitch items. Now my shop has transformed into a hub for cross stitch patterns. I still make finished items, both cross stitch and crochet, on a custom order basis. A year after opening my shop, I began streaming on Twitch. At first, I was a gaming streamer, but when Creative was introduced I quickly made the switch. Now I want to transition my time to RU-vid to help others learn to cross-stitch! I hope to continue to grow my shop so that it will be a staple in every cross-stitchers favorites list.
This is how it was explained to me. Looking at the backside is the same as looking the gift horse in the mouth. It shows 1) personality of person 2) expertise of the person = 3) quality of the piece.
Dish washing soap will remove grease stains. Actually I use my Dawn to treat 😢almost all stains. I use Hydrogen peroxide to remove blood stains. Just apply it to the stain. It's a cleaning trick my nurse husband taught me.
Thanks for the tutorial! I had the broad strokes figured but I'm so glad for the product recommendations as I was planning on using hot glue. Thank You and thank goodness for RU-vid!
Just came across your video. I like your quick method for mounting your cross stitch but as a quilter we use batting on top of the sticky board to protect the piece. Also use a rotary cutter to cut the sticky board. Kimberly Jolly at Fat Quarter Shop FlossTube has some great tutorials for finishing pieces.
I just used your method and it worked perfectly. I have to ask why vinegar? I used salt. But certainly not opposed to vinegar. Mine worked perfectly. I also dunked it quickly into tea to take off the brightness.
Thanks for the tips. I'm obsessed with the chihuahua cross stitch behind you. I looked at your etsy shop to see if it is one of your patterns but I don't see it. Can you share where you got it? I'd love to do one myself.
Hi, two hand-sewing methods you can use are blanket stitch and whipstitch. I like blanket stitch the best because it is easy and secure and it looks nice, lol. There are loads of tutorials for these on RU-vid. Just a note - the tutorials often assume you are sewing two edges together, but these stitches work just fine along a single edge of fabric (ie where you would serge). The blanket stitch tutorial I learned from is "Overlocking by hand" and the channel is called sewberry. Sorry I don't know how to post the link. 🌺
Sorry for the late reply, I have been a little MIA on social media. It's to get out any excess dye that may bleed out onto your threads and your hands.
Sorry for the late reply, I have been a bit MIA on social media. I have never seen that in a pattern before. Did they maybe use a solid block as a symbol that bled into one another?
Thank you so much for showing us these EASY framing techniques. Every other video I've watched only shows the whole hog super thorough techniques which will only keep me from ever getting around to framing my stuff. 😆
Thanks for this informative video! I have a previous project wherein I used 2 strands on a 14ct aida and I didn't like that I'm seeing white parts in the background 😅 that's why when I started a new project, I experimented on using 4 strands on 14ct since I liked how it covered most white parts, especially it's a portrait one. But I'm working on the pattern for my next project and I'm considering using higher count aida since it will be too big if I use a 14ct one so I'm looking into the different aida cloths and stitches for reference. Your video has taught me a lot!
I found you at the perfect time! Just found this really cool cross stitch at the thrift store. Weirdly enough it will go perfectly with my finished Cryptid and Supernatural SAL. The found one has stains all over it. Watching your video now 👩🏽💻
Im new to CS but instantly knew i wanted more interesting backgrounds and your method looks so straight forward... Dare i say "i will be dyeing tonight"
Thanks this was helpful! I just finished my first cross stitch project a couple of weeks ago! 👍 Btw, I'm a teacher and we just call it a paper cutter. 😉
This was exactly what I was looking for! I'm a cross stitch newb and ordered an 18CT 16inx34in Rivendell(Lord of the Rings) kit! I got the highest count on the pattern so my piece could have better detail. Anywho... I was unsure whether I should use single or double strands and wanted to see what both looked like. Your video made me realize I probably wanna go with 2strands because I like the coverage better on the 18CT swatch. Also makes me wish the pattern came in 22CT because I liked single strand on that swatch even better. Thank you!
Oh, do I have a news flash for you! A friend told me the best way to dissolve a blood stain is with your own saliva. I've been doing this ever since when I accidentally prick my finger. It absolutely works!
