Welcome to my trout fishing channel. I love fishing the rivers of Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. I hope I can share with you some of my adventures, if not some trout some beautiful scenery. Enjoy
Aaron, I struggle to get a decent drift in this braided water with indicator. Did you fish this Czech nymph style? Thanks for the look at the fly that works. Appreciated, Geoff
Aaron, Loved the content. I haven't fished the lakes. It was on our list last time when we fished the river last time and opeted for the Tuki Tuki instead. You have inspired me go go in. I don't care that they are smaller fish, they are all beautiful. Thanks Geoff
@geoffwatts8605 Thankyou for the great feedback, I was really happy to capture some great footage of some of the aquatic life, its somthing I would really like to do for each video
Aaron, I am very impressed with your day on a small river. Looks like lots of fish by our standards. I have fished the Manawatu and Hawkes Bay rivers a lot and was wondering how they have recovered from the cyclone?. Was this river in that region? I would love to plan a trip next season. Appreciated Geoff
The Tuki and Waipawa appear to be least affected and probably tutaekuri and esk fearing the worse. Numbers are down in mohaka and Ngaruroro but should bounce back ok
Hello, sorry I don't do lessons but the fly fishing guides around here are very much worth their money. I'm far from being a pro just a fly fishing enthusiast but thankyou for you kind words 🙏
@@aarontroutfishing right, its hard to find and book a guide these days but if u ever change ur mind, pls know im intwrested evennif u dont consider urself a pro. cheers!
Used to fish those lakes around 30 - 35 years ago. From memory the lakes were stocked with a different strain of fish back then. Loch Leven maybe? Prettier and more colourful than our standard brownie. Also very tasty cooked over a fire on the lake shore. Never any size to the fish in those lakes, but prolific risers and a nice easy outing if the main river is a bit high or you are short of time.
Yes they are descendants from the original loch leven trout dropped into the lakes and quite likely that strain hasn't been diluted by other trout due to its remote location. Very beautiful fish.
i fished this lake in the 80s and 90s fantastic in a southerly the trout were tarawera r strain and my dad landed a 10 pounder and played another for 30 min before loosing it
