I live in Florida where the hurricane came on land. I have been just in awe of how far it traveled. We return to school tomorrow so we will see how everyone is feeling. I know I have one that lost her home.
We just got Wonders this year so I haven’t used it in 1st! From what I have been hearing, lots of people love it in the other grades. I will say it’s a whole curriculum that works in tandem (mini lesson, read aloud, word study, writing, etc.). My school has a lot of resources so I just kind of pick and choose what I want from Wonders for the week! There’s a lot of great resources though!
@@MissLifestyle We lost power for only a few hours my familys biggest lost which seems small compared to so many people especially in NC was when the power came back on my computer that I use for my school work will not turn on. I think a power surge hit it.
I’m glad you have someone that helps you. As a 7th year substitute teacher, I can tell you that pre kindergarten and kindergarten is a very difficult grade level and you need a lot of patience.
First grade is one of the grades with the highest expectations, in my opinion. Students are expected to make tremendous growth, ready or not. That being said, 1st grade is one of the most special grades BECAUSE of the growth they make. You got this!💪🏼
The tough part about kinder (amongst many others!) is that you get students who have not been diagnosed or who do not have IEP plans at this time. Your cats are so adorable!
They arent ready for level A books because they arent appropriate to use for beginning readers. The Science of Reading tells us levelled readers/guided reading promote poor reading skills. When you know better, you must do better for your Kindergarteners. 😢
Getting the full scope of a situation before passing judgement surely has its benefits. As a teacher, I’m SURE you know that. However, my school/district has certain protocol that must be followed- whether I agree or disagree. Plus, we use Wonders as a resource, which is SoR aligned. Again, surely you know this but as an educator there are many things out of our control.
I personally know kindergarten teachers who start with level A readers as well. They have to start somewhere. Students need to be exposed to books ASAP period!
I attend WGU which is an online school and it is not any easier than attending a in person college, which I have done as well. They are very on the ball and hold you accountable every step of the way.
I got hooked on day in the life of a teacher videos a few years ago…and I’m not even a teacher!!😂 I am going to check out flight attendant videos and cruise personnel next. That would be interesting. Could you please share the channel you watch? Thanks! Love your videos! 😊
Yup! Other careers are so interesting to me!Flight attendant vloggers I love are Kat Nesbitt and older Carrie Ann videos. Cruise- the only one I have watched so far is Jordan Bauth and she is a great vlogger and very entertaining!!
Teachers definitely need someone to stick up for them as there are multiple demands on teachers and it's just overwhelming, so it's good to have people to help you out when necessary.
