I'd like to say that I was really struggling to choose between the 3 of these as my first Color digivice... but that’s a lie; it was always going to be Nu Metal Empire, but the guest ultimates actually are some of my faves (Zekegreymon specifically), so it became a no-brainer. What I am surprised by is how much I like the Virus Busters lineup; i do very much like the Gammamon line (plus Quantumon), and i was a massive 01 manga stan, so Dominimon makes me very happy.
The style appeals to me personally more than the Uni, which I don't have any experience with. I know many tamagotchi fans really like the Uni though, so it may be worth trying out, but it's a higher price item of course

Honestly, the only reasons why I haven't bought a Connection yet is because my favorite character (Maskutchi) isn't available in those devices, and there isn't a shell pattern/color that has screamed loud enough for me to want to buy one. However, since Bandai did confirm they'll release more shells, I'm willing to wait! I've waited on Digimon devices for half a year, what's a few more months for a new Connection shell? XD
If you enjoyed the connect(I had one of those too when I was young but never found anyone else xD) then try the Uni, it dose one thing I wish digimon would do. Extra download able content, with the uni they've released extra content that you don't have to buy an extra device to get ahold of(Just buy an unlock code). You can only have one extra content pack actice(like Vitals rosters) but it's a nice addition and removes some of the buyers remorse(I got the base model and wish I had waited for the monster uni, low and behold I can get the monster uni content just by buying its code.)
Picked one up based on your recommendation in the hatchery Discord and have been having a blast. Thanks for being one of the last few quality RU-vid channels doing real content instead of shilling for sponsors.
I bought one of Tamagotchi On devices after I got into v-pets a few years ago. I hated it because how slow it was. Menus upon menus and just w a i t i n g. I never used it again. This looks a lot snappier.
I am SO happy the v3 came back. It's what I grew up playing and I had a lot of them. But my first one ever was the zebra print shell v3. I'm gonna wait it out and see if they come out with new shells before I buy. If the old zebra print comes back I will be getting it in a heartbeat 😍 lovely review! So happy you fell in love with the V3 all over again
Strange that you say the screen contrast is better than the originals, because I've seen many people complain that the contrast is horrible compared to the 2004 versions. Maybe there is variation in contrast on an individual basis? The two shells you have (bubbles and clear retro) have exactly the same contrast?
There could be, but yeah both of mine have the same contrast and I have no complaints about either. My original connection is much darker, and the p1/p2 Tamagotchi rereleases have always been much too light. There may also be a variance caused if someone has a low battery, hard to say for sure why someone would be seeing different.
mannnnn, i feel you so hard on the modern tamas not being as appealing. i just... dont like the modern characters. i like how the vintage characters are just Lil Guys. Maskutchi? Nyorotchi? PEAK creature design. Lovlitchi? .....hard pass. (sorry Lovlitchi fans; she's just the perfect example of what i dislike about modern tama designs 🤘😔)
My opinion is the same! Modern tamagotchi characters look like people in a costume. Too humanoid and generic... The old designs had a lot of personality because they were such strange creatures haha

I am glad that the v3 has a sense of randomness for evolution rather than the clear cut you have to just neglect your tamagotchi to get certain evolutions like modern versions. It just bugs me lol
Agreed!! I usually prefer Digimon, but I've been really into Tamagotchi lately as well! So much fun. Between this and the Uni, there's so many hours of fun to be had.
So does the modern rereleased connection connect with the older original ones? Also are they going to release a version 1 or 2? Can the connection connect across different versions? Or do you specifically need two version 3's to do connection?
The rerelease can only connect with other rereleases, it is not compatible with older models. Since they started with the V3, I don't expect to see versions 1 and 2 make an appearance, but who knows.
I actually didn't like the Tamagotchi Connection! I gave it a good chance but just didn't like it. It just wasn't for me which made me sad because I loved the OG. 😢
YEAH! When I got my anniversary Digimon toy a few years ago, I burned through it and kinda just stopped caring. Even at the time, I was kinda jealous of the Tamagotchi camp because their stuff looked more impressive for the modern times. And that still does seem to be the case THOUGH what I really want to an app on my phone to play with Chao from Sonic Adventure. That's probably my ideal.
