Goin' home, goin' home, I'm a goin' home; Quiet like, some still day, I'm jes' goin' home. It's not far, jes' close by, Through an open door; Work all done, care laid by, gwine to fear no more. Mother's there 'spectin' me, Father's waitin' too; Lots o'folk gather'd there, All the friends I knew. Home, home, I'm goin' home! Nothin' lost, all's gain, No more fret nor pain, No more stumblin' on the way, No more longin' for the day, Gwine to roam no more! Mornin' star lights the way, Res'less dreams all done; Shadows gone, break o'day, Real life jes' begun. Dere's no break, ain't no end, Jes' a livin' on; Wide awake, with a smile Goin' on and on. Goin' home, goin' home, I'm jes' goin' home. It's not far, jes' close by, Through an open door; I'm jes' goin' home. Goin' home.
Awesome job Todd. I really enjoyed knowing your dad and flying with you at Vance. The formation flight in the Beechcraft Bonanzas with your dad and mine was truly memorable. Well done!
These were kids that grew up to be men, and the Greatest Generation. We should take a cue from their unbounded love for this nation, for each other, and for the fact that they answered the call. Fair winds and following seas!
Ok what is up with this crew. 1 they are going slow, 2 those wing on the 120 should have two closest to the plane out on before loading against the body as it becomes difficult to do so after it's been loaded 🤦♀️ wth
1968 of the coast of Hawaii the USS Rogers helped the USS enterprise fight a fire i think there was 27 sailors lost their lives that day, i didn't get to do much but watch in silence.
France uses 200 naval aeronautics aircraft divided into 15 flotillas and 3 squadrons, or 4000 sailors, anchored in 4 aeronautical bases. France has 4 nuclear ballistic missile submarines, 6 nuclear attack submarines
This brings tears to my eyes. May Gunner's Mate Loyce Deen rest easy and move gently with the ebb and flow of the sea. You will be forever remembered. Let the gentle rocking of the ocean carry you away.
In WWII, the 379th wasn't the first B-17 group to enter service, but it racked up the most distinctions as the narrator states. However, she missed an important one: the 379th logged more combat mission over Europe than any other heavy bomber group (there were forty or so).
Nice to know that the unit is still going - I do wish a lot more people who study history actually knew about the 379th & some of it's more famous B.17's such as "Swamp Fire" & also Charlie Brown & Franz Stiegler incident regarding "Ye Old Pub" & lastly about the legendary "Ol' Gappy" who flew 157 missions, making HER the Top scoring B.17 of WW.2 Such a crying shame she survived all the way to early 1947 in the heat of the Arizona sun, thankfully just in time to be seen by a "Life" magazine photographer who had the precsence of mind to photograph her, in all her glory (minus engines) before she was stupidly scrapped & melted down (essentialy) into aluminium ingots (she should've been saved) It's because of 'Her' that I took such an interest in the 379th Also ironic, as my Son & his girl went to buy a house at the neighbouring village !! (& we live nowhere nearby !)
Any information on my grandfather's plane, Scotch and soda? Or scotch n soda. Edward R B urke second lieutenant, pilot. 525th bomb squadron. His navigator Leonard tew was unfortunately killed next to him by flak But my grandfather still managed to land the plane with the rest of the crew. He had a few crazy stories like that to say the least, wish I picked his brain more. I did quite a bit though. I have two different tail numbers, the records might be mixed up. I would have to go back into the personal documents my family has to find out exactly which tail number but I have two, one of which is likely his correct one.
@@robstaaass = Remember I'm an 'outsider' as such, but, clearly an 8th A.F "fan" since the late 1960's Are you either Dan Stasiukiewicz, related, or know him (?) - Either way, some interesting news** I've seen a sharp image-photo' of your Grandad AND two images of his actual Boeing B.17-G Don't wanna put words in your mouth (laughs) so I'll let YOU tell me the '17's serial number (please) You Yanks (understandably) call it a 'Tail number' (BTW, so do I) - but it's "serial number" officially I've got 'the low down' on it & it's eventual fate & once you pass over those two 'serial numbers' you have, we'll see if they tally up (match) **Of course I'm assuming you already know this AND (perchance?) have already seen those 3 images ???? If not, then obviously you'll be very pleased - (I know I would be, too) Always keen to help anyone interested in the 8th Air Force , fairly local to me... If it's the correct one, then I've also got it's "Fuselage Sqdn Codes" too - (which is amazing !!) The details I have are for a B.17-G in N.M.F - We'll presume this is THE one Len Tew WAS killed in Get back to me "if" ya like, via here. Can you PLEASE give me the TWO serial numbers (tail numbers) you have please (?) = Cheers !! Thanks.
@@hawnyfox3411 Dan is my brother! He gave some info to the American air museum or something of sorts a while back. Haha love that, Here's the serial numbers I have (and yes the one with Leonard Tew was definitely his): 42-97302 OR 42-107175
@@hawnyfox3411(thank you for the info about the official serial # vs tail #) I've seen a couple images, the one of him in his bomber jacket by himself of course but was never sure of which one was his plane. I also have hard copies of "scotch n soda" but havent seen it online l don't think..any if l is greatly appreciated. I also feel honored and fortunate to have people like you who truly understand and respect such things to this day, as the mighty 8th. It's awesome
a few weeks ago one of these SH60 Skyhawks flew over my high rise apartment by about 100 - 200 feet above the roof of the building, then they circled around and flew over it again...two more times, for a total of three fly by's...for no fucking reason.. What they did is highly fucking illegal. FAA regulations states that helicopters flying over congested areas require the aircraft to be at least 1000 feet above the nearest obstacle. Not only were they not even close to 1000 feet above my apartment, there were other condo's in the area that are taller than mine and they weren't even above those at all and were flying in between them. But i guess with the military being all hush hush about their people doing shit they're not supposed to do, apparently they probably feel it's fine to just put the lives of hundreds of civilians in danger in the unlikely event that the pilot loses control of the aircraft. And this was one of many time's in recent years i've seen helicopters flying dangerously low over residential city areas and no one seems to give a shit.
All the French combat pilots are super trained and among the best in the world but by habit in the French armies it is said that the best of the best in our Rafale pilots are those of the Navy and not of the Air Force. ^^ I think that it's the same with you in the USA and in all the armies of the world which have a Navy Air Force on aircraft carriers.
As we can see the virus was crearly outside the van. There is no danger if someone gets in the van or sits down in a bar terrace. Una pena tener que ver un video tan interesante como este, contaminado con aquella farsa. I’d like to know how long it takes from cold start to the take off in a scramble. And which things are done on the flight. For me in dcs, it takes too much time to be effective IMO.
Do not criss cross the red line if you cross the red line will have to use Force do not look at the red line do not approach the redline do not contest the red line do you understand
