People in the UK think the grass is greener on the other side as many English people are running away to Australia, Australians are not so tolerant and open minded they are very outspoken and more direct than English people even though most in Australia can trace thier history back to England and Ireland they have thier own way of life and traditions . Australia has thier own issues with high rent homelessness and high cost of living and many in Australia are fed up of new commers .

Magpies are the absolute true terror of Australia. Snakes leave you alone if you give them some respect. Magpie season is the true terror!!!!😂😂 Aussies eat chip butties too, you’ve just got to be 50 plus 👍

Best thing I ever did was get a piece of dirt. Retired on a government pension, skint and happy as Larry. Time flies by, never enough time to do everything, - so let it go. The stuff to be done will still be there tomorrow. Best advice I can ever give is start collecting machinery that will lighten the work load. The older you get, the less physical lifting you can do. I bought a property that had been left derelict for 20 years for less than the GV. First up was a 3 ton Kobelco digger that had seen better days very cheaply. 3 years later and the property is cleared of the regrowth ( some 60' high trees rooted out). Then came an old 25 y.o. 30 hp Kubota tractor for a song, but it had a slasher. The grass is easy to maintain sitting down and just driving. Next up was a disc plough that wasn't really necessary so sold on for more than I paid. Then came the rotary hoe which got beaten to death and paid itself off in the first year by growing peppers and chillies., enough to buy a new one. The shelter belt trees are long overdue for topping, 30 year old casuarina, excellent firewood, so a 40 ton ram wood splitter keeps the cook happy and in pocket money selling firewood at the gate. Just invested in a 70hp Lovol orchard tractor as we are putting in a fig orchard. Man is that a beast! Does everything from slashing, rotary hoe, log hauling, post hole borer, spraying you name it. Easy to buy new. The payments are the same as smoking a pack of fags a day, so gave up smoking. No brainer. The one other thing on a lifestyle block is having friends. I mean real friends, you know the type, a friend in need? When they need a hand,- over you go. When you need a hand, they turn up and bring the barbie and beer too. So what if it is half an hours drive? You make a day of it and bring the kids too. Ever seen the joy of a 5 y.o. operating a digger? They all make a beeline for that tired old darling . Heaven - under close scrutiny. Live off 100 bucks a week and lack for nothing. Lonely? - no chance. In fact visitors are a PIA sometimes when they drop in at the wrong time. They know that I have not got time to stop and natter. That comes after they have given me a hand to finish the current project. They love it and keep coming back for more. Living off grid is liberty in its purest form.

Here's my tip for anyone considering an international move: first determine how your going to split up the things you have now (1) take with you(ship) , (2) storage in home country (paid storage or with relatives) (3) sell. then buy coloured sticky note pads (post it notes, come in different colours) and a note book and some clear packing tape, on the first page write what each colour means, i.e. pink=sell, blue=store yellow=ship. then on the next few pages write a colour at the top of the page, when you assemble a box stick a sticky note on it with the correct colour, write a number on it with a thick black marker, then cover it with the clear tape so it's well secured to the box, write the box number in the book and everything you put in the box write down next to that number in the book. - When the shipping company or movers or whoever come to your house you to help you move stuff, just tell them take boxes with this colour to storage / shipping etc. - When you get asked by the shipping company tells you the destination countries customs needs an inventory, you just photocopy/ scan / photograph with your phone the pages for the colour tags of the boxes you shipped - When the boxes arrive at your new home in the destination country (because this will be 3-6 months later), you know if all the boxes arrived (or which one is missing) and you know exactly which box has which items - when your emptying out the stored boxes in your original country in a few years time (because your sick of paying storage fees or your family member wants them out) you know before you get there what is in each box so you can have a plan what your going to do before you get there instead of having to open boxes to remember what you have stored

Good morning 😊. I'm in NZ 😢 and use Woolworths Everyday rewards. Every week we get boosts and Gold card for pensioners. We only started this process in January this year. I have literally saved hundreds of dollars and received so many $15 vouchers. I think its about six now 😊. I buy only specials and boosts. The boosts this week are phenomenal. 10xpoints when spend $15 or more on health and beauty. 200 points on spend $10 or more on fruit and vegetables.❤Boom🎉. Another $15 dollar voucher thanks. That's two in my kitty for next petrol day. I love my everday rewards 😅❤😅. I make all my own bread and baked goods. Grow and preserve most of my fruit and vegetables. The bottling side of it all I am just in the process of learning 😊. This has saved me so much already 😊. Thanks for all your tips. Have a great week 😊.

G'day 😊. In answer to your very last question. We moved to Australia twice. 1987 left 1990. 2005 left 2005. Why? Family and so-called mates back home. We wished we had never left Australia 😢. WE LOVE ❤ AUSTRALIA 🌏🦘🌏. We would move back to the Sunshine Coast in a heartbeat, but we're retired now and the cost of moving back would cripple us😢😢. We're hoping to go back for a holiday and maybe catch another John Williamson concert. Last one was 2019 in Caloundra. Thanks for this 😊. Enjoy your amazing life 💖.

Hi, you'll get no stick from me about transport. Its still pretty poor in Australia. Really a driving country unfortunately. Obviously our size doesn't help. Within the cities its ok, but regionally its terrible still. I'm an Australian who is returning back to Brisbane next month after 20 years and I needed you two to help me think the move will be ok. Different from moving from the UK as was your story. I've been in Vietnam, so it will be super different. Thanks for your channel.

I'm a Canadian who emmigrated to Australia in the mid 60s as a 16 year old. I agree with your statement that the younger you are the quicker you adapt and settle in. I also observed, both in myself, and other immigrants I have met, that when you have lived in Australia for more than 7 years, you can't go back to the country you came from to live. Sure you can go for a visit. But family and friends you have in your country of origin will find you both familiar, and a stranger. You don't belong there anymore. And the proof of this comes at the end of your visit, when you get on the plane bringing you back to Australia, and you can't wait to get back to your Australian home.

Australia got introduced to Espresso early in the 20th century, so that and only that is what Australians call "coffee". Whereas in the US, we started drinking coffee in the 1770s because the English controlled the tea imports and we were at war with them. The espresso machine wasn't invented until the 1880s, so Americans had been drinking drip coffee at home, and away from home for 100 years by then. For us Americans and Canadians, both drip coffee and espresso are "coffee", chances are good most of us still make and drink drip coffee at home like we always have. When a European or Australian(or other people who are not familiar with drip coffee) come here and order "coffee" they are probably going to be disappointed! PRO TIP: Look for an Espresso shop(not Starbucks, that is the "fast food" of coffee here), and get your coffee there. I'll continue to drink my half-liter to full liter of drip coffee that I make at home, that fancy stuff is nice but expensive to drink in quantity like I do.

Came over in 1995, Hampshire to Victoria. Best thing ever. Yes it does take time to get used to it, but because Ozzies almost speak English lol, it is easier than moving to Europe so I found after living and working there for over 5 years. The easiest way to accept the difference is SAY YES TO YOUR WORLD. Love and respect.
