After more than two years looking for an adventure, it finally took a failed house move to put what would have been stamp duty to better use. We bought a motorhome! And of course we had to name it Stampy. We're new to this lark and like to give you the 'warts and all' experience, so don't expect expertise, though hopefully we'll give you some laughs everytime we get it wrong.
Before the failed house move, we had planned to get a second house in France, but then a pandemic and Brexit happened and we were scuppered! So we feel like our time in Stampy is our chance to do something different in our lives.
We live on the south coast of England and have four sons, one of whom is now grown up! Our three younger ones are all home ed, and mostly don't mind the motorhome adventures!
Thanks for the tip. I did source some fiamma pegs and ropes soon after, so I could sleep at night without worrying the awning would flip over in the wind! 😄
@EscapeintheMotorhome Cool not sure if you have or are thinking of travelling to France but New Haven to Dieppe is a very good and cheaper crossing compared to Poole or Portsmouth twice I've used this crossing to Visit St Mont Michel and Normandy and the D day landing beaches were very educational

We have the S2000pro which has an RV output socket in addition to the unit, so essentially can plug the Moho in and that acts as its mains power thus making all the inside sockets live With the solar panel it’s a brilliant bit of kit, worth the money and not overly heavy
Great stuff. Yes when I had the panels charging the power station, not only was it charging the leisure battery, but it was powering all the internal 3pin sockets. I forgot to highlight that bit. It's like an electric hook up, wherever you are! *weather permitting! 😄
Good point. It comes with a cover, which is probably more of a dust cover than anything else. But to access the DC points, I have to almost completely remove it. I guess it'll depend on how careful I am with it and where it is used. In the UK, I'd say the rain is more of an issue than dust 😄
Haha yes I am! I forgot to add my official Daz talks kit intro to this one. I even used the power station to finish the edit yesterday from a remote bell tent in the middle of the south downs! 😄👍
Another brilliant addition to an already epic French adventure. I have watched the entire vlogs and thoroughly enjoyed every single one. What an education and experience your children had on this journey. They will remember this for their entire lives. Great vlog today, refreshing and totally honest. That church cacophony was rje first Angelus of the day, there is one at 6 or 7am, lots chimes and then a good ring out, then again at midday and then again at 6 or 7 in the pm. Lesson, avoid park ups next to Catholic churches in Europe, lol

I had the same thing with the same company in France. Filled up at an unmanned filling station but as I went to the car pumps it was to low so I went to the truck pumps but there was something wrong with the pump and it voided three times, then I noticed a lady with companies shirt on and she said only one pump was working so I filled up at that pump. On returning to the Motorhome my phone was bleeping and to my horror my sterling app had a £6000 withdrawal on it. Turned out out because I’d used the truck pump every time it cancelled it ring fenced £2000. Regards nick
Ahhhh that makes sense, I guessed it was pre authorising the sale, but never more than £99 in the UK, but as soon as you said truck stop, I recalled that we did stop and fill at a pump outside the station for access reasons and were chased off it after we filled up by a pushy truck driver! 😂 Thanks, Daz
Had the same problem with purs one day i was absolutely heartbroken.. kept telling the fella to check! Then it went away, few miles down the road can smell the same eggy smell again! Turns out it was my Chihuahua! Had to literally sniff her bum.. sometimes us with motorhomes worry over nothing 🤦
does the atoto turns on automatically when you start the car? I do not want that, because i drive almost all the time in town, so i would know if is there an option to turn it on manually only when i need it for longer travels.
Another cheap option for the bonnet is to have it wrapped, there are several places round the south coast that can do this cheaply and match the colour, or if your brave enough take the bonnet off and rub it down and spray yourself - the fiat spray can match from Halfords is a good match and will look 100 times better for hardly any cost at all Great video, love seeing You guys take an honest approach to motor homing, and on a budget which is refreshing to see, we like you use free places where we can here in Spain 🇪🇸
@@user-xt4lr7bg4f it's the money we would have used on Stamp Duty if we had moved which we were planning to do. Our house sale fell through and we just thought, right, time for a different adventure for a bit. So stamp duty became Stampy 😊

Look like the curtain rail is across all your window. Just need to remove track stops to put in full size curtains. I just use them part open with a blackout blind down a bit to keep sun out of eyes and off computer screen. This also lets in some light and air in summer.

We found that if we were uncomfortable in an area, we would turn round and go back out! Unless you are booked into a site in the south if France, the whole area is very motorhome unfriendly. We now prefer the West Coast of France (Lacanau is a beautiful area) or inland towns and villages.
@@dianerichardson3061 yes, we should have left - we've learned that the south of France is not great for motorhomes and agree - the west is wonderful. We were going to move to the south west region a while ago - before Brexit 😔
Another tip, leave fridge open when not in use to stop mould. Some fridges have a safety catch on the door which you pill out, leaving about an inch gap round the door to let air circulate.
A tip! Invest in the wing mirror covers. You can get them on white! They are worth their weight in gold! We have had our mirrors hit about 6 times since we bought our van, a couple of times glass has popped out and these are easily replaced but has saved damage. to the wing mirrors themselves.
