We live in France and visit mountanous areas in our 7.3 mtr, 3.5 tonnne camping car regularly. Tips to avoind brake fade, and overheating. Drive down a steep hill, the same speed you would drive up it. Dab your brakes off and on. Keeping your foot on the brake all thre time will overheat your discs very quickly. and could ultimately warp the discs. Don't worry about traffic building up behind. If there is a suitable layby, pull in and let them pass. They'll probably beep you as a way of thanks

Good video. Some advice. We love mountains and spend many weeks each year up them. The technique is your gearbox. If you are braking lots when on an downhill drive you are driving in to high a gear. Just to explain, in theory you can come down the steepest hill in 1st without braking or very little use. So change down. Ignore anyone hooting but pull in and let them pass as soon as its safe to. Glad you got Sammy. We hate fireworks too from the point of view of our animals. Take care.

loving your adventures. we are out in France atm working south, we are loving the ease of services for the MH, not like the UK where we really need to get the infrastructure sorted out. glad Sammy was found and it ended well I would have gone into melt down! by the way did you ever find a replacement window for the cab bed? we have the same problem as we lost ours a year and a half ago but we made a window shape out of 3 layers of the insulated bubble wrap and duck taped it on around the edges and its still there. we cant seem to find a second hand one but i am sure we will eventually. we have a 19yo Kon tiki so unless we are lucky enough to ask a breaker as they break one we will have to just keep what we have. like I said I love your vlogs and you determination to deal with all life has to throw at you. happy safe travels. PS from a couple of Saga Louts, Sue & Andy xx

Haha love this message - Sagalouts 😂❤️ Brilliant. Yes we did! When we got back to the UK Daz had to go and get it fixed in the midlands, think they sourced a window which was new, so we were lucky, even though it was pricey. That's a clever fix though, well done. Enjoy your adventures, wish I was in France right now! Thanks for commenting 😁❤️ x

Hills use low gears and slow speed dab brake pedal as this will give brake pads a chance to cool. If you have an idiot behind get to close put on the hazard lights. You will see some HGV going slow up hills with hazard lights on.
