Mr Steve, I just wanted to say thank you for all the footage you have uploaded recently. I finally found a good deal on the bc-x1500 (1000 usd) and bought it! It will be here this Saturday. Any tips for you could give me to get the best image from this camera?
Cracking deal at $1,000 well done make sure you get good high speed SD cards, like SanDisk 256GB Extreme PRO SDXC card, SD Card, V30 Memory Card, 4K UHD, up to 200 MB/s. In hindsight I should have bought a couple of 512Gb ones as they are better value for money, but the two 256GB cards give about 6 hours of recording at max shooting quality of 200mb/s Other than that you need to invest some time in reading the manual. the film mode you select will depend on what computer hardware you have to edit it in POST. I've got a threadripper with 128GB Ram and a 3090 so I shoot in 4K 50fps HVEC LongGop 200mbs for best quality and everything i upload to YT is 4K H265 with all quality maxed out and about 30MBs data rate for final render. My PC outputs slightly faster than real time with everything maxed out. Get your hands dirty with it and experiment and you'll find what works for your. I would certainly start out on Scene1 mode and use that as your baseline
@@MrSteve.I thank you very much for the advice. Strangely enough, I purchased two 256 GB Sandisk pro extreme with the camera. I really can’t wait to get my hands on it. Thanks again for all the great content and Keep posting to bring us all those awesome shots .
My take up reel wont spin cuz its missing the head of the screw that holds the loading pin in. For some reason they r plastic screws into the pin. For now i just inserted piece of tape to hold it in 😂
Between 1962 and 1965 I was a ground crew member of 83 Squadron at RAF Scampton together with Nos 27 and 617 Squadrons and was privileged to be present at a public display of what I believe was the first 4-aircraft, mass rapid engine start and take-off of all four aircraft from the new QRA pad at the end of the runway. Instead of the normal Palouste starter or the internal AAPU being used to bleed HP air to the main engine starter turbines, 6000psi air from internal air bottles were used to spin the engines up to self-sustaining speed before the normal ignition sequence was commenced. Initial primary electrical power was supplied by the normal Houchin generator via QR couplings under the wing which disconnected as the aircraft started to roll out of the flight line.
If I remember right, wasn't it a Vulcan that Maggie thatcher sent to the Falklands. Many people said it couldn't be done, including the Argies. It put the fear of God up them. It was a monumental task of not only flying all that way but all of the logistics involved. That was when Britain had Great in front of it and we had a prime minister with BALLS!
Absolutely. Two were sent but one had to turn back after the stop at Ascension so only one did the actual bombing run. If you have a look at my other video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zk8WLKoOYqc.html you'll see how small the cockpit and crew area is.
Unfortunately flight approval was withdrawn a few years ago for all Vulcans. Wellesbourne Airfield runway is not strong enough for AM655 now and even if it was it's too short. As I understand thing you would need to have so little fuel onboard to take off you wouldn't have the range to reach another longer runway to land and refuel. it's stuck.
There is no direct conversion between thrust and horse power, as they measure different things, but the Olympus 301 isn't capable of 52,000HP. The correct rating would be around 33,000 Shaft Horsepower which would be around 40,000 Exhaust Gas Horsepower.
Would appear to be correct Sooty655 According to this calculator as there is a speed element to add to the calculation calculatorshub.net/mechanical-calculators/lb-thrust-to-hp-calculator/ 20,000lbs thrust at 645 mph = 34,400 HP Can't really tweak the video captions but I've updated the video description
Remember seeing her fire up for an EGR. Coach broke down on the way to Wellesbourne Market, got there, noticed she was off her pan, wondered why. Got off the coach went to the first stall & I hear her fire up. What a great day!! Turns out, on that day, Vulcan To The Sky Trust was at Wellesbourne using XM655 for training on evacuation procedures etc. Great to see!! I also saw her fast taxi in 2014. Wondered why she didn't fast taxi this time. Is it due to what happened a couple of years back or is it an issue with the runway?
Cheers. I heard different things flying round about when she overshot the runway & wasn't allowed to fast taxi down the runway anymore & the drain issue. Thanks for clarification. The joys of social media when people spread misinformation on other pages.
@@MrSteve.I I was happily talking to members of the RAF on their live show and suddenly ended up not being replied too, I wondered what was going on and no one replied, so they left me with no choice other than call their bluff.
Great to see these iconic aircraft kept alive. My father in law (xraf) went to the Falklands back in the day. Great to hear the stories from that time every time i speak with him 😊
Fantastic to see her still running, and running well thanks tonall the hard work of the 655maps crew. Look forward to our next visit. We'll done everyone 🙏🙏
Congratulations to Mike and the team. A stunning achievement if that was the first 4 engine quick start in around 50 odd years. Brilliant just wish I had been there to witness it 😮😊
I Was In The Shrewsbury ATC , At an RAF Base ,Somewhere at I can not remember. I Watched One Of These Beautiful aircraft leave the airfield to help out with the Falkland's War , I also watched a Victor Leave shortly after !
They are rather magnificent bits of Kit. Having seen inside the cockpit and crew area, it gave me and new respect for the crews that went on a jolly via Ascension to the Falklands.
Took my son to see Top Fuel for the first time on Saturday and we had a great day out. I was there last in the late 1980s, so it was a trip back in time for me. Thanks for posting the video.
No idea I'm afraid but light is good when it comes to things you want to get off the ground, by all accounts :-) It was a pretty windy day that day as well
@@MrSteve.I wow. Thank you for the detailed answer. I really appreciate it. Can’t wait to see more footage from this camera. I’m still on the fence on whether I should but it or not. I already have a few mirrorless Sony cameras which makes it difficult .
No worries, glad to help. I did consider the Sony z90 for the 1" sensor but heard bad reports about the poor zoom button. difficult to get a nice smooth slow zoom in or out which put me off it. The biggest downsides of the X1500 are the ergonomics of the buttons and if you want to shoot anything in other than "Auto". The feel of buttons are terrible and it's been set-up really to shoot in AUTO mode, You can shoot in manual but it's a pain to navigate through the menus. If you like to tweak everything all the time, it's not the camera for you. Have to say though in AUTO it does a pretty good job, most of the time. I'm still getting used to it and spent another couple of hours in the manual this evening but I can tell you I'll still VERY happy with the purchase. Look, at the end of the day, you could always buy one from Amazon. If you don't like it they have a returns policy, right ?
It did struggle in the dark, as has been reported in lots of the reviews. I can see some graining on the raw video. What helped it is that it's so small in that crew section the lens was wide open and aperture was at F1.8, not real 1.8 as in DSLR 1.8. Someone worked it out and I think it's about equivalent to F11 on a decent DSLR Still very happy with it as I don't really do much shooting in low light and I like the form factor. I did look at some of the 1" sensor cameras but other than the Sony Z90 the form factor was too large. I've read some reviews about the zoom buttons on the Z90 and they said it's very hard to get a nice slow zoom on it which is one of the main reason I opted for the X1500
Nice video! is this straight out of the Panasonic hc-x1500? that looks great ! I can't wait to see more footage of more everyday things with this camera.
Thanks - video is straight out of the camera. I actually added a very slight gaussian blur 2% to the video in post to make it not quite so sharp as that can it a little less flattering. super close up at 4K
